Railfanning July 25, 2015 Part 2: Conneaut, OH
After following NKP 765 for the better part of two or three hours, our cameras moved 20 miles northeast to the city of Conneaut, OH. Norfolk Southern has a crew change point and a yard that is shared with the Bessemer & Lake Erie Railroad (frankly the B&LE wasn't running that day). On the CSX side, the ex-NYC station, similar in design to that of the Lake Shore Railway Historical Society in North East, PA, has become home of the Conneaut Railroad Museum. The main draw is NKP 2-8-4 Berkshire #755. This was our first time seeing trains on the Erie West Subdivision which comes out of Erie, PA.

Railfanning Hotspots: Erie, PA & Conneaut OH
A few of the most popular railfanning location on the east coast could be found right along Lake Erie in the states of Pennsylvania and Ohio. In particular, Conneaut Ohio and Erie PA provide a unique location for trains due to the lines these towns possess.
Conneaut, Ohio:
The town of Conneaut Ohio is home to 3 railroads: Norfolk Southern (Cleveland line), CSX (Erie West Subdivision) and B&LE (CN). The former NKP and NYC lines see over 50 trains a day and provide a variety of power. If you get lucky, you can see an under/over meet of a B&LE ore train with a NS train passing over it. The town also has a railroad museum called the Conneaut Historical Railroad Museum.
Erie, PA:
The same CSX and NS lines that run through Conneaut also pass through Erie. Not only that, but the General Electric (GE) test track stretches a few miles along the CSX and NS mainlines, so with luck, you can see some brand new engines get tested. Furthermore, B&P run into Erie a few times a week and are worth seeing.

A Beautiful Day Along the Lake Shore
On Tuesday, July 6, 2010, I spend the day with my sister along the Lake Erie shore line, starting our day in North East, Pennsylvania and finishing up in Ashtabula, Ohio. The first stop of the day was the Lake Shore Railway Museum in North East, Pennsylvania. There they have old cabooses, passenger cars, Pullman cars, and even an old electric unit build for Joe Stalin during World War Two that the United States wouldn't let him have. The museum also has an original New York Central unit. It was so cool to see all of the neat equipment, even though we didn't get to see a train go by when we were there.
The next stop was the Erie, Pennsylvania Union Station. We got some lunch right there in the old station, now a restaurant, and of course, still no train! After I finished eating, I went out by the tracks hoping for something to come. Yet, once again, we saw nothing.
After lunch, we continued West to Conneaut, Ohio, home to the Conneaut Railroad Museum. There they have an original Nickle Plate Burk shire, number 755, as well as a Bessemer and Lake Erie hopper and caboose. As we turned onto the street of the museum, we just missed a train, of course! After some more pictures, we got back in the car and continued West some more.
The last stop of the day was Point Park in the Ashtabula, Ohio coal harbor. The sun was setting, and it was just beautiful. I large ship was coming in from Canada, and NS was working in the coal yard. It was a wonderful day, and I hope you enjoy the pictures.

Marblehead Lighthouse, Ohio
This is the Marblehead Lighthouse along Lake Erie, in Ohio. There are shots of Kelleys Island, and the Cedar Point amusement park. Since this was filmed in the off season, you can not go inside the light house. Not far away is the U.S. Coast Guard station, and I saw but could not film a coast guard helicopter.

World War Two Combat reenactment part one.
This is part one of a World War two reenactment I went to with my father and brother. It is about a town battle between the Nazi SS, the 82nd and 101st United States Airborne division, and what I believe to be the United Kindom Royal Air Services. The reenactment took place in Toccoa Georgia in 2017 during three day event dedicated to World War two. Veterans from the war were here, coming from the 101st, the 82nd Airborne, and some other divisions. I hope you enjoy.

WW II Reenactment - Texas Railroad State Park (2010)
This is a World War II reenactment at the Texas Railroad State Park on May 29, 2010. Passengers boarded the train at the Palestine Depot and rode the train to the Jarvis Wye, where they watched the battle from the train.
The reenactment starts with Patton's train arriving and scouts informing the general that the Germans are planning a counter-attack. After the Germans attack reinforcements are called in. All of the Germans are either captured or killed.
This is only the first part of the battle. I had to stop recording as our unit was part of the reinforcements. The entire length of the battle was about 25 minutes.
