Len Tibeťan vie takto jazdiť na koni!
Keď mal Renqin dvadsaťtri rokov, ochorel a musel byť hospitalizovaný.

Najkrajšie cesty Čínou so sinológom a fotografom
NEPRECESTOVAL SOM DESIATKY KRAJÍN. PRECESTOVAL SOM ČÍNU. A TO PORIADNE!
**Keď som išiel prvýkrát v roku 2009 do Číny, nevedel som do akej krajiny idem. Vkročil som do neznáma. **
Pripravil som unikátne cesty Čínou:
PRECHÁDZKY ČÍNSKYMI ROZPRÁVKAMI
To najlepšie z Číny!
STRATENÉ SVETY ČÍNY A TIBETU
Dokonalá kombinácia starej a novej číny.

Eating an 8-meter noodle (Inside Yunnan: The China You Never Knew)
Check out some extra footage from our show entitled Weishan: Rural Remnants of Past Splendor! As we travel through China's Yunnan Province, one of the first things to grab our attention was all the delicious food.

Bach Transcendent: The Quest for Musical Perfection
On Tuesday, July 30, 2019, Gil Harel presents his final lecture in his four-part Bach series.
Bach Transcendent: The Quest for Musical Perfection
In 1747, Bach would meet with none other than the King of Prussia himself, Frederick the Great. A Francophile who harbored antipathy towards religion and fancied himself a musical luminary, Frederick's goal during that fateful meeting was undoubtedly to embarrass the sexagenarian composer. Here we will explore the story of the Musical Offering and see how Bach turned the tables on the sanctimonious Prussian monarch. The composer's death in 1750 came to mark the end of the baroque period, but before he would finally succumb at the age of 65, Bach continued to plumb the depths of the polyphonic, fugal style with which he is synonymous. In his Art of the Fugue, Goldberg Variations and other works, he seemingly exhausts every musical device or idea available to a composer in the mid-18th century. Though underappreciated in his own time, later generations would come to venerate his music in a way that Bach himself surely could never have fathomed.
About the Presenter

Previously, he has served on the faculty at CUNY Baruch College, where he was awarded the prestigious Presidential Excellence Award for Distinguished Teaching, as well as the Southwestern University of Finance and Economics in Chengdu, China. Currently, he teaches at Naugatuck Valley Community College, where he was presented with the Merit Award for Exemplary Service to the College. The Rooster XTD by 100architects
As part of the big celebration that Xintiandi China organized for the Chinese New Year 2017, the renowned award-winning commercial area commissioned 100architects the design of the main installations on their popular retail street in downtown Shanghai. Xintiandi is a landmark not only for shopping, entertaining, leisure and lifestyle, but also for art display.
To celebrate the Year of the Rooster, the installations would have to highlight the Rooster’s character according to the Chinese Zodiac beliefs and tradition.
After researching past installations in Xintiandi, one thing became clear to us: it would not be an installation to be observed, it should be an installation to be used and enjoyed by the visitors, offering them the possibility to colonize the space and interact with it. A fun experience to be part of, rather than just watch it.
In order to achieve that, we morphed the proposal from a simple installation into a people’s attractor, catching the attention of visitors, as Roosters like to do, being the focus of the attention.
In 100 Architects, we have few research lines as strategies to intervene the public space. One of them is what we call “Painted Scapes”, a two-dimensional approach based on the idea of transforming the surface of a given cityscape; another one of them is “Object Plazas”, a three-dimensional approach, placing alienated objects onto a given cityscape to change its social dynamics.
In Xintiandi, seeking to maximize the visual impact, we decided to combine these 2 strategies displaying an installation in both, 2D patterns and 3D objects combined together, creating an illusion in which the 3D objects seem to arise from the 2D canvas.
The project was a vivid & colorful journey across detailed spaces resembling Chinese culture and the Year of the Rooster, building a unique experience that remained in visitors’ minds.
The installation was composed by:
- 2D Painted Scape: A colorful carpet invading a big part of Xintiandi Retail Street, featuring functions, activities, sugesting actions and games. It is also a splash of chinese patterns and intriguing symbology related to the year of the Rooster. It also included 5 directional arrows arising from typical chinese lanterns, pointing at the 5 “instant fuctions” provided in the 3D Object Plaza.
- 3D Object Plaza: An inhabitable architectural object inserted in the center of the main plaza. This architectural object acted as an accessible and multifunctional platform, allowing people to stand on top of it, sit down on it, lay down, etc.... It provided programmatic features that complement and enhance the surrounding environment. It became highly significant in the collective consciousness of the people around it, triggering social effects of fellowship and empathy.

Exploring China: Old, New, Human, Nature
Throughout my life-changing journey in China I wanted to observe, and record, the amazing sights and sounds of the wonderful country - while also encapsulating some of my thoughts and feelings of the experiences.
Originally thinking these would be a personal collection of memories, I created a short video to arrange them into a neat package. Instead of keeping it all to myself, I thought I would share this with you all to have a taste of one of the most wonderful places on earth.
~Leo Barton
The footage in this video was mainly taken in Chengdu, in Sichuan province, and Chongqing - although there are a few snippets of Shanghai as well!

Hermès petit h Exhibition in Chengdu | Full Documentary
Usually a designer draws a draft before selecting materials and sewing. However, at the workshop of petit h, it is the opposite. The designers here reverse the process by creating surprise out of existing materials. More precisely, they make something magical from the discarded materials of Hermès.
April 2019, “petit h” came to the Hermès store in Chengdu Taikoo Li shopping mall for an exhibition. In this dreamy, playful and poetic world petit h builds, the visitors can take a close look at the diversity of Hermès materials and craftsmanship.

Why an Education Gap Could Hurt China's Growth
The poor, rural county of Luquan is 800 kilometers and a world away from the wealthy, urban city of Chengdu. But the students in high schools in both places are taking the same classes taught by the same teachers. Luquan No. 1 Middle School is one of about 400 rural schools in China using on-line learning to bridge a growing education gap between rural and urban areas. (video by Menglin Huang)

A video about the experience of Canal Cheong Jagerroos at the International Artist-In-Residence Program in Beijing 2017, including images from the opening of her related solo exhibition ‘Waking/蘇醒’ at Being 3 Gallery, Beijing, China.
Canal Cheong Jagerroos (b.1968), a Chinese contemporary visual artist who grew up in an artistic family in Macau. She works between Helsinki, Nice and Berlin. As far back as Canal can remember, at the time other children her age were playing with crayons, her father taught her the fundamentals of Chinese ink brush painting. In many ways, Canal’s father teaching has strongly influenced her journey to find artistic expression.
Canal has lived and worked for 25 years in numerous countries from Asia to Europe and Africa. She is currently living with her family in Finland. The unique experience of having lived in such culturally diverse places, namely; Hong Kong, Shanghai, France, Switzerland, Italy, Senegal and Finland has influenced her work greatly whether consciously or subconsciously. Canal has discovered that walking the line between the east and west, facing different cultures, can be both constructive and destructive, but always inspirational.
Canal Cheong Jagerroos is the co-founder of the ongoing art project ‘Blue and Red’ which will be showing in numerous museums in China and Finland from 2018 - 2020.
