「Learn Japanese」 Xに従って(従い) as following X, in accordance with X
「Learn Japanese」 Xに従って(従い) as “following X, in accordance with X”
The verb 従う (したがう/shitagau), which translates to “to abide, to obey, to follow, to accompany,” can be conjugated into its Pre-ます-Form (従い), or more commonly, its て-Form (従って), and placed after a NOUN word or VERB word in its Dictionary Form, X, along with the particle に to serve the grammatical function of “in accordance with X, following X.”
The usage of the Pre-ます-Form, 従い, is considered to be more formal and is usually used in written language, while the て-Form, 従って, can be used in both spoken and written language. Addtionally, the standalone phrasing of 従って can be used at the very beginning of a sentence without the particle に and a NOUN/VERB word to simply mean “therefore, accordingly, etc.,” in which it essentially performs the same grammatical function here as it refers to the context of the previous sentence as opposed to a particular NOUN/VERB word.
When this grammar pattern is used with VERB words, the VERB word used must be in its Dictionary Form, and the verb action overall should represent a continuous action as opposed to a momentary one.
Example(s):
約束に従ってタバコを吸うのを辞めた。
Yakusoku ni shitagatte tabacco o suuno o yameta.
(“I stopped smoking in accordance with the promise I made.”)
皆の決定に従って、プロジェクトをやり直した。
Minna no kettei ni shitagatte, project o yarinaoshita.
(“Following the decision we made together, we redid the entire project.”)
頭の痛みが強くなるに従って、試験に集中出来ないことになった。
Atama no itami ga tsuyoku naru ni shitagatte, shiken ni shuuchuu dekinai koto ni natta.
(“Following my headache getting worse and worse, I wasn’t able to concentrate on the test.”)

Shimokitazawa & Japanese Craft Beer ・下北沢&日本地ビール
第1話「下北沢&日本地ビール」(日本語字幕付き)
Shinjuku, Akihabara, Harajuku, Shibuya... Even lacking context, there's a degree of familiarity in these names even for those uninitiated in Tokyo's bustling local districts. Brimming with impressive sights and sounds, there's a lot to love about Japan's tantalizing metropolis, but in a city of such scale and diversity, there lies hidden nearly an infinite number of places and people that convey the nature of the country and its personality that go largely undiscovered or underappreciated. Join navigator and wanderer Justin Potts as he takes you through areas of Tokyo often overlooked by most travelers, taking in unique local vibes and searching out people and places in the city where you might get a taste of other areas of rural Japan without having to leave the city. For special episodes, trek along with him as he visits remote areas of Japan, chatting with locals and getting schooled in local cuisine, offering a rare glimpse into the Japan that so many seek, but rarely find.

TOKYO Adventures! 東京!
So here's a vlog of my trip to TOKYO, JAPAN! From Shibuya crossing to the dangerous wasabi russian roulette, I'll never forget Tokyo!
I do not own any musical content in this video, therefore no copyright infringement intended.
The tracks to the video are as follows:
1) Regina Spektor - Dont Leave me
2) The Wombats - Tokyo
JAPAN WONDERLAND | Dec 2016 | Part 3: Tokyo
OK HERE IT IS GUYS... My complete, four-part series vlog on Japan! +insert triumphant hand gestures+ This has been a long time coming cuz I had to stop editing halfway last year due to a family emergency. But hey, better late than never kan? ;P
SO some context:
1. My virgin trip to Japan was in...uhhh, I think... 2012. (Sorry ah, sis dah tua lah.) It was for work and I went to Nagoya with a bunch of teachers to learn more about Lesson Study, a form of teaching approach invented by the Japanese.
2. I fell in love with the country and its people, and the rest, as they say, is historyyyyy. So I've been going back there ever since.
3. This trip, however, was my first solo trip EVER. A lot of trepidation and doubt went into planning for this trip but alhamdulilah, everything went well. Well, it went better than well. It went EFFING GREAT.
4. I am now an advocate of travelling solo. You see so much and learn so much about the world and ultimately, yourself.
HOLLA if you need deets of the places I went to or need some tips for your own trip to Japan. I mean I ain't no expert but I'll help in whichever way I can. ありがとうございます!

Neighborhood Tokyo - PREVIEW
Purchase:
Miyamoto-cho is a community of Mom-and-Pop stores and family enterprises located near the center of Tokyo. Competition from supermarkets and shopping centers threatens the livelihoods of long-term residents. High land prices tempt owners to tear down old homes and replace them with apartment buildings; this in turn is changing the composition of the population. Against this backdrop, residents strive to maintain the close social ties, symbols of local identity, and community rituals that keep Miyamoto-cho from becoming just another mailing address. Theodore Bestor began his research here in 1979. His prize winning book of the same name is available through Stanford University Press. This documentary is one of a series depicting the variety of life in today's Japan in the context of human problems common to all industrial nations. A comprehensive study guide is available.

Tokyu Plaza Ginza by Nikken Sekkei
Located in Ginza, which is the most renowned commercial district in Japan, and also facing a major junction Sukiyabashi Crossing, Tokyu Plaza Ginza is a large commercial building with a floor area of 50,000 sqm. The site sits at the connection point to Yurakucho and Hibiya disctrict, and can be described as “Gate of Ginza”. Based on the concept “Vessel of light”, the building is designed as a glass “vessel” inspired by the Japanese traditional craft of glass cut “Edo Kiriko”. This reveals the inner activities to the city, and enables an urban feeling.
The façade shows various expressions changing by time and weather. While attracting with a symbolic form, the reflection of surrounding cityscape and climate makes this architecture merge into the entire cityscape. The facade of this Tokyu Plaza Ginza Building consists of three dimensional glass planes, which creates a delicate phenomenon of light reflection and transmission. By reconstituting these diverse scenic elements, the building facade transforms itself into an urban phenomenon. The facade creates a large 3D diamond shaped pattern, which is 6 stories high and 500 mm deep.
This large scale pattern of the façade makes the building stand out from the surrounding context. The Kiriko Lounge is a public space situated at the middle level of the building, providing a broad view of the city. By its 27 meter high atrium, and the vantage point above the heavy traffic of the Sukiyabashi Crossing, the lounge opens up to the commercial activities of the city. In the high density and limited spatial conditions of Ginza, such an open and elevated space offers an opportunity for people to gather, and create connection. The continuity between the architecture and urban context promotes the attractive nature of this city. Source by Nikken Sekkei. Info project
