Hauns Go West - Coon Dog Cemetery
Renowned East Tennessee farrier Tim Hutton narrates this short documentary about the world's only coon dog cemetery. In 1937, Troop was the first canine to be buried in what is now known as the Key Underwood Coon Dog Memorial Graveyard. Located in Colbert County, Alabama, more than 185 coon dogs from all across the United States are buried in this spot. To qualify for burial in this unique cemetery, dogs must meet three requirements:
1) The owner must claim their pet is an authentic coon dog.
2) A witness must declare the deceased is a coon dog.
3) A member of the local coonhunters' organization must be allowed to view the coonhound and declare it as such.

COON DOG CEMETERY
In some areas of the world hunting with hounds has been outlawed, in other places its frowned upon. But in the rural stretches of the southern United States the tradition is treasured as much as the bond between hunter and hound. Often the dogs are used to track down raccoons and some people will go to extraordinary lengths to make sure their beloved dogs are remembered long after they're gone.
