The Art of War at the Coral Springs Museum of Art
The basic message of Odysseus in America: Combat Trauma and the Trials of Homecoming, psychiatrist Jonathan Shay writes—”whether recovery occurs spontaneously or in a confined treatment setting, recovery happens only in community—” and underscores the strategy behind Voices of Our Veterans, a new, arts-based collaboration among the Coral Springs Museum of Art, the United Way of Broward, the VFW 8195 Stone of Hope Military Outreach Center, the South Florida Storytelling Project and other organizations working to support veterans in their quest for a “new” normalcy.
The aim of this program is to provide veterans with a safe and healthy environment in which to confront difficulties and challenges through artistic expression.

The 10 MOST BORING CITIES in AMERICA
Do you live in a really exciting place? Where people are active and having fun and meeting each other and generally being social? Or in a really boring place where people are all old and stuck at home with kids and where there’s nothing to do but eat at the same Golden Corral every Saturday.
We’re a big country - and that means there are lots of various levels of excitingness. And of course, boring is subjective. Some people like small town life, or living in the middle of nowhere. But that would drive other people... crazy.
For our particular study today, we’re going to specifically measure the things that are boring. We measured all cities with more than 100,000 people for number of entertainment options, as well as what percentage of the population spends most of their time at home.
So, sit back and watch as I try to make this as entertaining as I can, as we go through America’s most boring cities.
10. Mesa, Arizona
Mesa is a big enough place, with 500,000 people so there should be a TON to do here, right? Wrong.
Besides having a pretty small young population, there’s next to no nightlife here, and few music venues as well. And if you enjoy good food, there’s not that many options as far as non-fast food restaurants either.
A lot of people complain that the entire greater Phoenix area is boring.
9. North Las Vegas, Nevada
How can a place so close to the most energetic place in the country be so boring? Well, we’ll tell you. As it turns out this place is absolutely none of the glitz of the Vegas strip. Mostly, it’s just a big housing suburb, the kind of a place where people live, but don’t socialize.
Only about 10 percent of the population is between the ages of 18 and 34, and the nightlife ranked 86th of the 100 cities we measured.
8. Stockton, CA
Stockton California certainly isn’t anywhere that you ever hear people whooping it up in. It’s basically a sleepy, boring farming community in California’s central valley. Stockton ranked really low for measurements of arts and culture.
7. Little Rock, Arkansas
Here in Little Rock, the dining options are very limited. Olive Garden and Chipotle are considered ethnic fare.
There isn’t a professional sports team for 5 hours in any direction, there’s hardly any concerts, shopping, nightlife, water parks, museums or arts venues. They do have a zoo and hiking at nearby Pinnacle Mountain State Park.
6. Indianapolis, Indiana
Now Indiana is a pretty boring place as it is, but you’d think the capital of this fine state would be somewhat stimulating? It’s not. The downtown area has a handful of restaurants and bars, and that’s really it.
5. Lubbock, Texas
Down south in the state of Texas, you have the really boring city of Lubbock, which isn’t exactly full of culture either. The arts per capita ranks in the bottom 20% and the music venues rank in the bottom 10%. Where Lubbock really took a nosedive was in the dining department, so much so that it ranks dead last in the non-fast food restaurant category.
4. Minowi, Nebraska
Ever heard of Monowi, Nebraska? Talk about boring. This is actually considered a village, located way out in the middle of nowhere along the South Dakota border.
The village’s population? One.
3. Cheyenne, Wyoming
Now Wyoming in general is one of the most boring states in the country, and you can imagine why. It’s generally an older population, and a more conservative population as well. There are six people per square mile here.
I mean there’s only two escalators in the entire state! And neither one of them is in Cheyenne.
People complain about lack of jobs, narrow minded political views, lack of entertainment, slow drivers and other things.
2. Anchorage, Alaska
Of course, for most Americans, the state of Alaska would be considered quite boring, since we have a low tolerance for anything that’s not immediately stimulating.
Unless you like to drink, skiing or fishing, you're going to be VERY bored.
1. Cape Coral, Florida
It certainly isn’t a very exciting place when you measure the data. Nothing against older people, but let’s face it - they are the least exciting of all age groups.
And Cape Coral is one big retirement community. There’s nothing here for kids to do, especially for teens.
There’s a handful of snobby, closed at 8pm overpriced restaurants in the community here.
This channel talks about America, different states, education, travel, geography and what it's like to live in different places in America.

The Making of The Underwater Museum of Art
The Underwater Museum of Art is the first permanent underwater sculpture garden in the United States. Located in the Gulf of Mexico, off of Walton County, Florida, the museum lies at a depth of approximately 60-feet and at a distance of .7-miles from the shore of Grayton Beach State Park. Each year, a juried selection of sculptural works, drawn from artists throughout the world, is installed in the underwater garden. The sculptures quickly attract a wide variety of marine life and, over time, metamorphize into a living reef. This eco-tourism attraction not only entices art lovers and divers from around the country and around the globe, it provides a much-needed habitat for local marine life and fisheries as well as providing marine scientists, wildlife management professionals, ecologists, and students, with an opportunity to study marine life and measure the impact of artificial reef systems on the Gulf ecosystem. Resorts World Miami
Genting Group Unveils $3 Billion Master Plan For Resorts World Miami
Miami, FL -- September 14, 2011 -- One of the most prized pieces of waterfront land in Florida will soon come alive with Resorts World Miami, a Destination Resort featuring iconic skyscrapers sporting designs inspired by a coral reef and serving as the centerpiece of a new three-mile Baywalk that will activate the city's waterfront. Resorts World Miami, which represents a $3 billion investment by Genting Group, comprises approximately 10 million square feet of mixed-use development, making it one of the largest development projects in Florida history.
Resorts World Miami will accelerate Florida's evolution as a global destination at the crossroads of the Americas, said Mr. KT Lim, Chairman and Chief Executive of Genting. Most importantly, Resorts World Miami will boost confidence in Florida's economy, creating 15,000 direct and indirect construction jobs and 30,000 permanent positions on an ongoing basis, attracting more inbound investment, and substantially increasing the tax base for the city, county and state.
Rising from 13.9 acres of bayfront land currently housing the Miami Herald Media Company, Resorts World Miami is located in the heart of the City of Miami, midway between Miami International Airport and Miami Beach.
Resorts World Miami introduces a new vocabulary of architecture to Florida, one that is inspired by the ocean and Florida's coral reefs, said Bernardo Fort-Brescia, Co-Founder and Principal of Arquitectonica, the world-renown architecture firm based in Miami. At Resorts World Miami, building designs echo familiar forms that are part of our identity, including tropical fish and seashells. When you describe Miami and Florida, you inevitably come back to the water. We have captured that relationship with Resorts World Miami's design.
Resorts World Miami includes a series of four hotels with a total of 5,200 rooms and two residential towers featuring 1,000 units. The towers take on sculptural forms that change from every perspective. Each building is designed with outside balconies adorned with LED-lit exteriors, creating a jewel-like effect that will illuminate the Miami skyline each night. The Destination Resort will include a super-luxury hotel, a contemporary hotel, a convention hotel, and a family hotel, offering a lodging option for each segment of the market.
The towers sit atop an 8-story podium where guests can immerse themselves in a double-story, 250,000 square foot luxury retail galleria; more than 50 restaurants, lounges, bars and nightclubs; a high-tech multimedia entertainment area showcasing the music and culture of Florida and South America; and 700,000 square feet of convention and meeting space which includes a 200,000 square foot column-free ballroom, the largest in the United States. A casino will be included if Florida's legislature and governor approve Destination Resort legislation.
Each level of Resorts World Miami is designed with outdoor terraces offering
spectacular unobstructed views of Biscayne Bay, downtown Miami and Miami Beach. The podium's rooftop features a 3.6 acre outdoor lagoon -- a size equivalent to 12 Olympic-size swimming pools -- and natural sand beaches that will enable guests to swim from Biscayne Boulevard to the edge of Biscayne Bay, a distance of more than 1,000 feet. Each hotel will also have a private swimming pool.
Resorts World Miami will be the highlight of a three-mile Baywalk beginning at the Miami River and running north to Margaret Pace Park. The Baywalk will link Bayfront Park, Bayside Market Place, American Airlines Arena, Museum Park, the Miami Art Museum currently under construction, the new Miami Science Museum currently under design, the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts and the Omni Center. All will be connected by new public spaces and pedestrian, jogging, and cycling paths that will activate this stretch of partially completed Miami waterfront.
Resorts World Miami has been designed -- and will be constructed -- in accordance with all applicable zoning codes and regulations, including Miami 21, the City of Miami's comprehensive zoning code. The project has been conceived with an emphasis on sustainability and LEED-certified solutions, including three levels of below-grade parking. ExMiami.
