To Corbett with Love - A Documentary based in Corbett National Park, India
A short film made in the beginning of year 2000, set in Corbett National Park, India. At the time of making this film, UP was undivided. On 9 November 2000, a new state, Uttarakhand, was carved out from the Himalayan hill region of Uttar Pradesh.(wikipedia). Corbett National Park now falls in Uttara Khand.
Filmed, scripted and produced by Dr.Susan Sharma.

Corbett National Park nestles in the foothills of the Himalayas. It is the first national park of the Indian sub-continent and was the launching pad for the region's ambitious conservation plan called Project Tiger in 1974.
This 24 minute video was exclusively shot in Corbett Park and portrays the park from the viewpoint of a tourist. Corbett's magnificent forests with their rich flora and fauna attract some 48,000 tourists annually, many returning year after year for sightings of tigers, elephants, deer, ghariyals etc. and some 500 odd species of birds. The film looks at the conversion of Jim Corbett, the Nainital- born Britisher who founded the National Park, from hunter to protector of wildlife.
The park's employees - rangers, forest guards and mahouts face threats from wild animals and poachers. In the film you can meet Subedar Ali, the mahout who survived a tiger attack, spent a year in hospital and then came back to work in Corbett Park as a mahout, taking photographers and tourists for jungle trips.
The film is a tribute to the silent protectors of the tiger. It has been motivated by the belief that the Indian tiger has a better chance of survival when it is worth more alive than dead. Each tourist to the Park who has been lucky to sight a tiger goes back with unforgettable memories. Even those who don't manage seeing a tiger cannot but wonder at the Park's ambience, where elephants, deer and others are sure to make eye contact with you.
The film makes a subtle statement about saving the tiger through Subedar Ali; not in so many words as from the obvious passion this mahout has for wildlife.

Love for wildlife and nature was conditioned by my father. Since my early childhood and Jim Corbett has been my most favorite retreat for as long as I can remember. Wildlife Photography has always been my first love. I have taken this passion further by compiling few of my video graphs into a short documentary film about Jim Corbett which was shot in Dhikala, Bijrani & Jhirna Zone of Corbett Tiger Reserve. I have tried my best to capture the vivid wildlife experience via my lens. I hope that you will enjoy this. Looking forward to your support and feedback.

A video has gone viral on social media where a herd of elephants is seen pushing two cars in the Bhakrakot area, close to the Corbett Tiger Reserve (CTR) in Uttarakhand.
After pushing the cars to some extent, the herd comprising nearly a dozen elephants later left the scene. Corbett Tiger Reserve (CTR) | Jim Corbett National Park
Corbett Tiger Reserve has captured the imagination of many with its diverse wildlife and breathtaking landscapes. The natural uniqueness of the area was recognized long ago as a result of which in 1936 Corbett attained the distinction of becoming the first National Park to be established in mainland Asia. The park was then named as the 'Hailey National Park' and was later renamed as 'Corbett National Park' after James Edward Corbett the noted hunter turned conservationist of the area. The area came under 'Project Tiger' in 1971 when Gov. of India launched this ambitious conservation project.
Today after addition of areas into the originally declared National Park, the total area of Tiger Reserve extends 1288.31 sq. kms spreading over three districts of Uttarakhand viz., Pauri, Nainital and Almora. Corbett National Park covers an area of 521 sq. km and together with the neighbouring Sonanadi Wildlife Sanctuary and Reserve Forest areas, forms the Corbett Tiger Reserve. Geographically it is located between the Shiwalik Himalayas and the terai. The streams, rivers and ridges crisscrossing the terrain, present Corbett with a remarkable variety of landscapes. This vivid mosaic of habitats wet and dry, plain and mountainous, gentle and rugged, forests and grasslands supports numerous plant and animal species, representing Himalayan as well as plains ecosystem. The most famous of Corbett's wild residents are the Royal Bengal Tiger and the Asiatic Elephant. In addition to that with over 550 species of avifauna Corbett is one of the richest bird regions of the Country and has been declared as an 'Important Bird Area' (IBA) by Bird-life International.
The Park attracts a large number of wildlife tourists and is divided into six ecotourism zones:
Bijrani Dhikala Jhirna Sonanadi Durgadevi Dhela

Tiger attacking deer Jim Corbett national park dhikala zone!!!!
Tiger hunting Deer in Jim Corbett National Park.
on 11may,2018 around 4.30 p.m. I was going to DHIKALA FRH at Jim corbett national park with my parents. We stopped just 1 kilometer behind the FRH campus to take few shots of deers. My parents were filming them from their mobiles and i was taking shots from my canon DSLR . We were the only family on the jypsy present there. Suddenly a tiger jumped from the bushes and killed a deer. we (me aged 20
years, my father and mother) all captured the whole killing of that deer moment. see the first video and feel the terror of the tiger in jungle. Just see the difference in the atmosphere of the jungle before and after the attack of the tiger. I will upload the second video also which was filmed by my mother. Pics of that killing moment were captured by me.
