Starting Point: North Tampa St.
Tampa is a city in and the county seat of Hillsborough County, Florida, United States.[11] It is located on the west coast of Florida on Tampa Bay, near the Gulf of Mexico, and is part of the Tampa Bay Metropolitan Area. The city had a population of 346,037 in 2011.[12][13]
The current location of Tampa was once inhabited by indigenous peoples of the Safety Harbor culture most notably the Tocobaga and the Pohoy, who lived along the shores of Tampa Bay. The area was explored by Spanish explorers in the 16th century, resulting in violent conflicts and the introduction of European diseases, which wiped out the original native cultures. Although Spain claimed Florida as part of New Spain, it did not found a colony in the Tampa area, and there were no permanent American or European settlements within today's city limits until after the United States acquired Florida from Spain in 1819.
In 1824, the United States Army established a frontier outpost called Fort Brooke at the mouth of the Hillsborough River, near the site of today's Tampa Convention Center. The first civilian residents were pioneers who settled near the fort for protection from the nearby Seminole population, and the small village was first incorporated as Tampa in 1849. The town grew slowly until the 1880s, when railroad links, the discovery of phosphate, and the arrival of the cigar industry jump-started its development, helping it to grow from a quiet village of less than 800 residents in 1880 to a bustling city of over 30,000 by the early 1900s.
Today, Tampa is part of the metropolitan area most commonly referred to as the Tampa Bay Area. For U.S. Census purposes, Tampa is part of the Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area. The four-county area is composed of roughly 2.9 million residents, making it the second largest metropolitan statistical area (MSA) in the state, and the fourth largest in the Southeastern United States, behind Miami, Washington, D.C. and Atlanta.[14] The Greater Tampa Bay area has over 4 million residents and generally includes the Tampa and Sarasota metro areas. The Tampa Bay Partnership and U.S. Census data showed an average annual growth of 2.47 percent, or a gain of approximately 97,000 residents per year. Between 2000 and 2006, the Greater Tampa Bay Market experienced a combined growth rate of 14.8 percent, growing from 3.4 million to 3.9 million and hitting the 4 million population mark on April 1, 2007.[15] A 2012 estimate shows the Tampa Bay area population to have 4,310,524 people and a 2017 projection of 4,536,854 people.[16]
Tampa was ranked as the 5th best outdoor city by Forbes in 2008.[17] Tampa also ranks as the fifth most popular American city, based on where people want to live, according to a 2009 Pew Research Center study.[18] A 2004 survey by the NYU newspaper Washington Square News ranked Tampa as a top city for twenty-somethings.[19] Tampa is ranked as a Gamma+ world city by Loughborough University, ranked alongside other world cities such as Phoenix, Charlotte, Rotterdam, and Santo Domingo.[20]

South Tampa ???? One of Tampa's Most Popular Areas | MELANIE ❤️ TAMPA BAY
One of the most popular Tampa Bay areas is definitely South Tampa, so let's take a closer look to see if it's for you!
Generally when people are talking about South Tampa, they're referring to the peninsula that juts down into Tampa Bay with the northern boundary of South Tampa being State Road 60 (Kennedy Boulevard) and the southern boundary being MacDill Air Force Base.
So why do so many want to live in South Tampa?
LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION
South Tampa is close to two large commercial areas - the Westshore District near Tampa International Airport, and Downtown Tampa. That makes for a convenient commute. However, you would have pretty quick access to highways bringing you to other Tampa Bay areas including I-275 and the Lee Roy Selmon Expressway, originally known as the Southern Crosstown Expressway.
It's also close to fun places around Downtown Tampa like Amalie Arena, Curtis Hixon Park, The Florida Aquarium, Glazer Children's Museum, Straz Center for the Performing Arts, and Sparkman Wharf.
EATING, DRINKING & SHOPPING
Because South Tampa has been a popular areas for a long time, many local and chain businesses and restaurants have set up shop here. You don't have to go far to find an amazing restaurant, fun boutique, or grocery store.
Great spots for shopping include WestShore Plaza, International Plaza, and Hyde Park Village.
Howard Avenue is known for the famous Bern's Steak House and quite a few bars appealing to the younger crowd.
SCHOOL DISTRICT
If you've been looking online at listings, you probably see the phrase in the Plant High School District. Plant High School is consistently one of the highest rated in the area. Make sure you check the actual school zone for the house you're interested in purchasing.
The other high school in South Tampa is in the southern portion of the peninsula - Robinson High School.
*NOTE: School zones subject to change
NOT COOKIE CUTTER
Because the area has been built over the last century, every house looks different and there are plenty of examples where century-old bungalows sit next to brand new contemporary construction.
If you value privacy, South Tampa can be a hard place to find it with many smaller lot sizes. Unless you are backing up to the water, golf course, or a street changes are good that you'll have a neighbor backing up to your property.
NEIGHBORHOODS & HOUSING OPTIONS
Neighborhood boundaries in South Tampa can be hard to figure out, as many aren't labeled well other than a small sign.
You can see beautiful, historic bungalows in Hyde Park Village, lots of new construction in Swann Estates from builders developing existing lots where older homes used to stand. There are townhouses close to Howard Avenue, and you'll find some walkable neighborhoods in South Tampa.
If you want your kids to be able to walk to Plant High School, look at Palma Ceia, West Palma Ceia, or Virginia Park.
Like Downtown St. Pete, South Tampa has some of the highest price real estate in the area since demand is so high. If you want a waterfront property in South Tampa, be prepared to spend well over $1 million.
Other popular neighborhoods include Beach Park, Bayshore Beautiful, Ballast Point, Interbay, Westshore Yacht Club, Culbreath Isles, Sunset Park, Golfview, nearby Davis Islands and Harbour Island.

Top 5 Best HIDDEN Secrets in MEXICO (What to see in Mexico 2020)
This Top 5 list of things to do in Mexico, isn't your normal list of tourist attractions. These are for hardcore travellers, ones that aren't afraid to dive deep into the cracks, and see things that I guarantee aren't in any other Mexico vlog.
As tourists flock to Cancun beach, Playa del Carmen, Tulum, and the Mayan Riviera, there is a whole other side to this magical country. One that would satisfy even the wildest adventurer, and treads the line of Dark Tourism.
For the exact locations of these places...
HERE'S THE GEOTAGGED LIST ON TROVER:
The app is free, and it's great to find hidden gems near your location. Check it out and give me a follow ;)
1. The Firefly Sanctuary in Nanacamilpa, Tlaxcala.
From Mid June, to Mid August every year, the forest lights up with thousands of swirling fireflies, trying to compete with each other. Waves of light pulse through the forests. It's pure magic
2. Cenote Angelita is a freshwater sink hole, just outside of Tulum, Mexico. There are hundreds of these cenotes scattered across the Yucatan Penninsula, but this one is special. At 30 meters below the surface, there is a thick layer of poisonous hydrogen sulfide. This is a wild adventure of advanced scuba divers.
3. Volcan Paracutin, and the Church of San Juan.
In 1948 a crack in a farmer's field started spewing smoke, and the volcano was born. For 8 years lava spread across the mexican state of Michoacan, swallowing everything but a lone church.
4. Las Coloradas in the Yucatan Peninsula.
These pink lakes are ancient salt beds used by the mayans, and now modernized. Relatively new to tourism, the color comes from the algae that live in the extremely salty conditions. Many of the lakes have different colors depending on what time of year you go.
5. Las Pozas de Edward James in Xilitla, San Luis Potosi.
These ruins are in the subtropical jungles of one of the most beautiful Mexican states. An eccentric patron to surrealist painters, sold his art collection in England to create a garden of eden, tucked away between the natural pools and waterfalls of this beautiful area.

EATING THE WORLD'S SPICIEST BURGER | 50K SUBSCRIBERS CHALLENGE
MARIANNELA'S VIDEO TOMORROW 2/11/17
50k Subscribers! You're all the best. I have a food challenge for you today to celebrate. Eating the spiciest burger in the world!
There's this great American style burger place on Alvaro Obregon in Colonia Roma, Mexico City. We went there for the first time a few months ago, and I saw a challenge on the menu Eat the hottest burger in the world, with fries and a litre of beer in 3 minutes I bookmarked that for later and here we are today,... both about eat one of the spiciest creations in Mexico (they say the world).
While this particular challenge didn't have the spiciest pepper in the world, the naga chilli (or ghost pepper) it did have a tower of Serrano and Habaneros peppers. Serranos being 5 times hotter than Jalapeños and Habaneros 30 times hotter. It wasn't a joke.
For real though, It felt like a speed eating competition. My spice tolerance is high, so the burn really only hit me midway. To feel the full heat you have to sit back, but there was no time for that in this challenge. This was a true man vs food scenario, and while it might not stack up to furious pete or hot ones on first we feast... this thing was straight fire!

Living in Florida: What's it REALLY Like? ???? Cost of Living, Traffic, Weather | MELANIE ❤️ TAMPA BAY
What is it really like to live in the state of Florida? This episode is focused on the perks and reality of the Sunshine State.
If you don't live here or have never visited, it's easy to create your own version of Florida and I get all sorts of questions.
Living in Tampa / St. Petersburg ???? Things To Do, Job Opportunities, Where to Live
If you have any additional questions that I haven't answered here, comment below with your Florida question and I can do another FAQ episode.
WHAT'S THE DEAL WITH ALLIGATORS?
Alligators are a big part of our world here in Florida, and they've been here for a lot longer than us people have. For the most part, they stay away from humans. Alligators migrate, so a pond or lake without any could get a gator a few months down the line. Alligators only become a problem when they lose their fear of humans, which can happen if they are being fed.
WHAT'S IT LIKE LIVING SO CLOSE TO BEACHES?
Sandy... It's really sandy.
I fully understand that beaches are a big reason people move here. They are so beautiful and there's nothing better than watching a sunset while sitting in the sand. The West Coast of Florida has some of the best!
HOW'S THE TRAFFIC?
Just like all major cities, we have traffic headaches, mostly during rush hours.
If there's a wreck on a major highway like I-75 or I-275, it can cause significant delays. We see a spike in vehicles on the road during peak tourist season: January through March. Beaches get very crowded and I-4 to Walt Disney World can see a lot of activity.
DISCOUNTS ON AMUSEMENT PARKS?
Yes! Florida residents can purchase discounted tickets and annual passes to your favorite amusement parks.
FLORIDA'S COST OF LIVING
That really depends on what you're used to. If you're coming from the northeast or California, then no, it isn't expensive to live in Florida.
But compared to other southern states, Florida can be more expensive.
One of the best things about being a Florida resident is that we don't pay state income taxes. That is a huge savings for most households, and makes the state a really popular place for people with higher incomes.
We also have a fairly low median price for homes. However, the hot neighborhoods do come with a higher price tag. Property taxes are on the lower end of the spectrum, but homeowners insurance can be expensive due to Florida's reputation for more extreme weather.
WHAT ABOUT THE WEATHER???
Weather is a major concern for new residents and it should be. Hurricanes are a possibility and we do have days with intense storms and flooding.
Personally, I worry more about strong summer storms that come through during afternoon hours more than I do hurricanes. Lightning is very prevalent during these storms and they can dump a ton of water very quickly.
Yes, it's hot and humid lasting well into the fall months, but this is a tropical climate and that's normal. Makes for some bad hair days, but also keeps your skin and eyes from drying out.
