Goan Tribal Village Stuck in The Dark
Government fails to give electricity to Nadke Village, South Goa.
About the video: The tribal village of South Goa which lies in the heart of the Cotigao Wildlife Santuary has been caught in a developmental time warp. 50 years have passed since the state's liberation but Nadke has slipped between the gaps of the government's precarious balancing act between development and the conservation of Goa's rich ecology.
For years, the twenty families who reside in the village have been vocal in their demand for electricity. The neighbouring villages which received electric lines before the area was marked out as a wildlife sanctuary all have power but in Nadke the nights are still dark, lit only by the burning of kerosene lamps. The other villages have TVs and radios. Nadke is off the grid, a place onto its own in a rapidly interconnecting tiny world.
In 2010 the government installed solar panels as a solution and the village began to receive electricity. Within 3 months the installation broke down and Nadke now receives less than 30 mins of electricity each day. Some people had purchased radios, says Community Correspondent Devidas Gaonkar. They never used it ever again.

Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary
Although it is the smallest of all the wildlife sanctuaries in Goa, Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary is also the most popular with children, families and eco-tourists. Its convenient location in the Ponda Taluka combined with its manageable size of just 8 sq. km; make it an ideal destination for a day trip. The sanctuary is well equipped to entertain both day trippers and overnight visitors.
In addition to the plethora of animal and plant life that one can experience within the sanctuary, there are also a number of other attractions including a zoo, deer safari park, botanical gardens and Nature Interpretation Centre.
Where to Go
This sanctuary is located in the Ponda Taluka of North Goa. It is easily accessible from both Panaji and Margao, being located 50km from Panjim and 38km from Margao. In fact there are tourist buses available to reach the sanctuary from both these places.
When to Go
With its abundance of sights and activities this sanctuary is an extremely popular place to visit throughout the year. Most tourists, especially eco-tourists flock here in the season from October to March, but the monsoon season is also held to be one of the best times to visit since the life-giving rains enhance the scenic beauty of the place.
The Bondla Wildlife park is open to visitors every day except Monday throughout the year from 9.00am to 5.00pm. The cost of admission for adults is Rs 5 and children Rs 2. Extra charges include Parking (Rs 10 for a two wheeler and Rs 50 for a four wheeler), Cameras (Rs 25) and video cameras (Rs 100).
Flora and Fauna
The area encompassed by this sanctuary in the Ponda Taluka is covered in moist deciduous forestation with a few patches of evergreen vegetation. Some of the common trees found here include the State tree of Goa Terminalia Crenulata (Matti) and Rosewood.
There are a number of animals that make their home in this place. They include the Gaur, Goa’s state animal, Sambhar deer, panther, jungle cat, leopard, toddy cat, wild boar, porcupine, scaly anteater, and the Malabar giant squirrel. There are watchtowers set up at strategic locations where one can observe the animals in their natural habitats.
The park also houses a number of birds. The most common amongst these include Ruby throated yellow bulbul, which is the state bird, the common grey hornbill and golden backed woodpecker. There are also a number of rare species that visit the park. The park rangers are more than happy to assist enthusiastic and budding ornithologists with the best vantage points from which the birds can be seen and photographed.
Other Attractions
Besides the plant and animal life that abounds within the safety of the sanctuary, there also a number of other popular activities that one can indulge in during a visit to the natural park.
Zoo – The little Bondla Zoo exists within the larger confines of the wildlife park and is home to a number of animals. These include Tigers, elephant, Panther, Gaur, Sambar, Deers, Sloth Bear, Porcupine, Wild Boar, Crocodiles, Reptiles and many more.
Botanical Gardens – These beautifully laid out gardens are enjoyed by nature enthusiasts and botanists alike. There are number of rare tree and plant species that make these gardens a paradise for students of botany and researchers. The beautiful and colourful flowers make the gardens a delight to the eye.

Nature Trails – For those energetic persons who like to view nature at close range, there are a number of hiking and trekking trails that crisscross the park. These tours are usually conducted by knowledgeable guides who can point out the different species of flora and fauna that one might encounter as well as interesting and rare sights.
Rehabilitation Centre –One of the most commendable steps taken by this sanctuary in the preservation of the environment is the rescue centre that tends to wounded animals, especially leopards that have come into too close a range of human habitation.
Nature Education Centre – Besides the vast number of exhibits that the centre possesses, there is also a well-stocked library attached to the centre and movies/documentaries can also be screened on request.

NETRAVALI WILD LIFE SANCTUARY!! SAVARI WATERFALL GOA INDIA!! BEST PLACE TO VISIT IN GOA-INDIA
NETRAVALI WILD LIFE SANCTUARY !! GOA !! INDIA!!
If you are a wildlife lover and have explored the three main wildlife sanctuaries of Goa, do not think that your wildlife trip has been completed. This is because there is also a new wildlife sanctuary which deserve a visit. Situated in Eastern Goa, Netravali Wildlife Sanctuary is a major attraction for nature-enthusiasts and wildlife lovers as well. Just few years back Netravali was declared a wildlife sanctuary by the government of Goa to protect its Western Ghat range. Netravali is connected to the Madei Wildlife Sanctuary and together the two parks cover an area of 420 km2, of which Netravali has 211.05 km2 area.
SAVARI WATERFALL GOA
Savari waterfall is appx. 4 Km distance from Netrawali Wild life sanctuary. The Savari waterfall, which mesmerizes nature lovers, is a beautiful spot in the Netravali sanctuary of Sanguem taluka. When the summer heat becomes unbearable, nature lovers trek to the perennial Savari waterfall which is really a memorable experience. Savari is a small hamlet in Neturli or Netravali village of Sanguem, which got its name on account of an indigenous species of tree called Bombax ceiba, locally known as Savari.
In between Verle and Salgini villages of Sanguem, there is a mountain peak named Ravan Dongor. From its foothill a spring emerges and flows continuously to become a stream. The water of the stream tumbles from the top of the hillock to form the waterfall called Savari.
• Located in Sanguem Taluka in Eastern Goa.
• Major attractions: waterfall, jungle walk, mountain climbing
• Best time to visit: Any time during the year (preferably summer to get relief from the heat).
If you are adventurous enough, you have the zeal to walk the distance, no fear of the wild animals, this is the destination you can have fun and enjoy. Filled with greenery, the animals sound on the way make the journey more beautiful. And do not be surprised if you start shouting just to listen to your own voice.

Dr. Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary | Chorao Island | North Goa | Drone Shots | Dji Spark | The RcBat
The Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary is situated at Chorao Island on the Mandovi River. It has been named after the famous ornithologist of India, Dr. Salim Ali.
We did just the Boat ride through the mangroves and did not actually take a walk through the sanctuary.
We reached there late at around 12pm. The ideal time to visit this place is between 6:30 am to 8:30 am or at the Sunset time.
The right season to visit is from October to March. So, I guess we were at the wrong time and wrong season. The forest department boat costed around Rs75 per person and the entry fee to the sanctuary was around Rs 20. Cameras, etc are charged extra about Rs 150 to Rs 200.
Although we didn't see much birds around and it had started to pour being the monsoon season, the boat ride through these mangroves was very relaxing and unique and was totally worth the trip.
The guy took us to some common spots where birds are spotted, we did see a Kite sheltering from the rain in the bushes, but that's about it and it wasn't our day or time.
After some time, it stopped raining and the skies although still dark had started to clear off a bit so although I had not really planned, I decided to do a small fly by with my tiny Dji Spark. This video is about what I could get from the two short flights I could manage.
Hope you guys like it.

Shrines Chosen Over Shelter
Millions are diverted to build religious shrines in Goa by village panchayats, while villagers await basic amenities like food and shelter. In this video Devidas Goankar, a forest tribal youth living in Cotigao village South Goa, documents corruption in the local panchayat. Cotigao has poor road, transport and other basic civic facilities. To improve this, the panchayat has received millions from the state government. But instead of developing the village, the panchayat has spent most of the money to build a number of temples. The temples, once open to public, attract thousands of devotees. The caretaker of the shrines is a board of temple trustees who collect the offerings and donations from the devotees. Several of the panchayat members are in the board, so the temples are only helping them get rich. But locals get no benefits. However, when Devidas asked the panchayat about the details of the money spent on temples, the panchayat refused to do so. So, Devidas filed an application under the Right to Information Act and found out that more than half of the money allocated for village development was diverted by panchayat. However, after Devidas filed the RTI, it angered the panchayat members who accused Devidas of provoking the village to rebel. As a result this video took more than 2 months to complete. Finally Devidas was able to complete it because his community members supported him after they learnt of the fund diversion. Devidas and his community members feel, while building a shrine or two is justified, spending lakhs on them is a gross injustice to them because the money wasn't given to panchayat for shrines, but to provide the community facilities that they need such as better roads, housing, schools and healthcare. He wants to see this divertion of development fund stop immediately and spent where it is meant to be spent -- development of the village.
