Cottonwood Pass
High above it all, find nirvana at over 12,000 feet along the Continental Divide. Cottonwood Pass is in the San Isabel Forest and the Gunnison National Forest. The pass (CR 306) is closed to cars in the winter but open to snowmobile adventures. Groomed trails lead to extreme steep hills and invigorating landscapes. Sled these miles of trails surrounded by the greatest concentration of 14,000-foot mountains in the state. Taylor Park Trading Post is a favorite destination ride from the Taylor Park Reservoir Snowmobile area. Find the Cottonwood Pass trail east of Taylor Park Reservoir to head to Denny Creek Trailhead near Buena Vista.
The Avalanche Trailhead leads to an eight mile ungroomed area around Raspberry Gulch on the Colorado Trail and from North Cottonwood Creek to Chalk Creek. Start immediately east of the winter closure gate on Cottonwood Pass.

Driving Loveland Pass Colorado U.S. Route 6 4k
Loveland Pass is a high mountain pass over the Continental Divide in Colorado. It's a bypass that takes you around the Johnson / Eisenhower tunnels. Loveland pass is one of if not the highest mountain road that is open most of the winter. You have skiing up on top as well as this being a hazmat route...trucks hauling hazardous materials such as fuel cannot use the Johnson / Eisenhower tunnels. This footage was taken during my trip to Maroon Bells, so it has some fall foliage as well..mostly the closer you get to Keystone Colorado.

COLORADO 2019 Pikes Peak Summit and The Garden of the Gods Park
Pikes Peak is the highest summit of the southern Front Range of the Rocky Mountains, in North America. The ultra-prominent 14,115-foot (4,302.31 m) fourteener is located in Pike National Forest, 12 miles (19 km) west of downtown Colorado Springs, Colorado. The mountain is named in honor of American explorer Zebulon Pike (though he was unable to reach the summit). The summit is higher than any point in the United States east of its longitude.
The Garden of the Gods' red rock formations were created during a geological upheaval along a natural fault line millions of years ago. Archaeological evidence shows that prehistoric people visited Garden of the Gods about 1330 BC. At about 250 BC, Native American people camped in the park; they are believed to have been attracted to wildlife and plant life in the area and used overhangs created by the rocks for shelter. Many native peoples have reported a connection to Garden of the Gods, including Apache, Cheyenne, Comanche, Kiowa, Lakota, Pawnee, Shoshone, and Ute people.
Rampart Range Road is a 22.1 mile heavily trafficked point-to-point trail located near Colorado Springs, Colorado that features beautiful wild flowers and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for scenic driving and off road driving and is best used from April until November.
The United States Air Force Academy (USAFA, the Air Force Academy, or the Academy) is a military academy for officer cadets of the United States Air Force immediately north of Colorado Springs, Colorado. It is the youngest of the five U.S. service academies, having graduated its first class 60 years ago in 1959, but is the third in seniority. Graduates of the academy's four-year program receive a Bachelor of Science degree and are commissioned as second lieutenants in the U.S. Air Force. The academy is also one of the largest tourist attractions in Colorado, attracting approximately a million visitors each year.

Cripple Creek Colorado, United States
Cripple Creek Colorado. United States 2005.
The City of Cripple Creek is the Statutory City that is the county seat of Teller County, Colorado, United States.[6] The city population was 1189 at the 2010 United States Census. Cripple Creek is a former gold mining camp located 44 miles (71 km) southwest of Colorado Springs near the base of Pikes Peak. The Cripple Creek Historic District, which received National Historic Landmark status in 1961, includes part or all of city and includes surrounding area. The city is now a part of the Colorado Springs, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area. With many empty storefronts and picturesque homes, Cripple Creek once drew interest as a ghost town. At one point the population dropped to a few hundred, although Cripple Creek was never entirely deserted. In the 1970s and 1980s travelers on photo safari might find themselves in a beautiful decaying historic town. A few restaurants and bars catered to tourists who could pass weathered empty homes with lace curtains hanging in broken windows.
Colorado voters allowed Cripple Creek to establish legalized gambling in 1991. Cripple Creek is currently more of a gambling and tourist town than a ghost town. Casinos now occupy many historic buildings. Casino gambling has been successful in bringing revenue and vitality back into the area. It also provides funding for the State Historical Fund, administered by the Colorado Office of Archaeology and Historic Preservation. In 2012, Colorado casinos produced over $104 million in tax revenue for these programs.

Driving to the summit of Loveland Pass Continental Divide Colorado (US 6 westbound)
There's nothing quite like road tripping in Colorado! I've been on nearly every paved road in the mountainous portions of Colorado and have crossed the Continental Divide at every paved location on the state map. I believe I have the unofficial world record for vehicular Continental Divide crossings (currently at about 51). Have been to Loveland Pass several times over the years, it's as beautiful a view as they come. This summer (2013) I intend to do the rest of the crossings on the Colorado state map (which are all unpaved and have to be done in summer) which will add significantly to my count. Yeah, it's a weird and quirky hobby and I wouldn't have it any other way :)
