COTUIT – This was the tragic scene today near Loop Beach...
A middle aged woman reportedly was last known to have went to the beach to watch the sun rise. When her unlocked vehicle was discovered at the Loop Beach parking area with her cell phone still inside it set off an intensive search of the area involving the Barnstable Police, their drone and K-9 units, Cotuit Fire and Rescue, a Coast Guard boat and helicopter, a state police helicopter was also deployed and en-route... a local dive team was also ramping up...
… then at about 12 noon, Barnstable Detective Kevin Connolly, operating a police drone, observed an “object” under the water about 50 feet from the shoreline.
The “object,” sadly, turned out to be the body of the missing woman.
The woman's husband was about a quarter mile down the beach where the vehicle was found when police learned the bad news.
Massachusetts State Police detectives are investigating the scene...

Bakery Bites the Dust
As part of an expansion project for the Cotuit Center for the Arts, the former bakery building was removed along with gas tanks to make way for a new entrance. The gas station building will remain to house a future ceramics studio. Costello Dismantling provided the demolition services, as seen in this time-lapse video. Video credit: Tom Chartrand

Cemetery Headstones Damaged by Vandals- Cotuit, MA (01-03-12)
One of nine headstones damaged by vandals at the Mosswood Cemetery in Cotuit, Massachusetts. According to Barnstable Police, the damaged headstones were discovered Tuesday (01-03-12) morning. Several of the headstones date back to the 1800s.
