Courtallam or Kuttalam, Spa of South India, is a panchayat town situated at a mean elevation of 160 m (520 ft) on the Western Ghats in Tirunelveli District of Tamil Nadu, India. Many seasonal and few perennial rivers such as the Chittar River, the Manimuthar River, the Pachaiyar River and the Thamirabarani River originate in this region. The numerous waterfalls and cascades along with the ubiquitous health resorts in the area have earned it the title the Spa of South India.[1] The falls carry a good amount of water only when there is a rain on the hills. The season begins from June of every year till September. The South West Monsoon brings in the cold breeze with mild temperature. From October to December North East Monsoon sets over in Tamil Nadu and the climate is cold and the rains are very heavy sometimes. Sometimes the falls get flooded and people are not allowed to take bath during floods.

Courtallam or Kuttalam, Spa of South India, is a panchayat town situated at a mean elevation of 160 m (520 ft) on the Western Ghats in Tirunelveli District of Tamil Nadu, India. Peraruvi (main falls) the biggest falls in Courtallam, is about 60m high. The flow of water is interrupted by the Pongumakadal, a 19m deep crater and comes down with greatly reduced impact, making a bath safe.

This is Part 2 of Coutralam Main falls. Courtallam ( குற்றாலம் in Tamil), Spa Of South India situated at a mean elevation of 160 m (520 ft) on the Western Ghats in Tirunelveli District of Tamil Nadu, India. Many seasonal and a few perennial rivers such as the Chittar River, the Manimuthar River, the Pachaiyar River and the Tambaraparani River originate in this region. The numerous waterfalls and cascades along with the ubiquitous health resorts in the area have earned it the title the Spa of South India. The falls carry a good amount of water only when there is a rain on the hills.From June to September, South West Monsoon will gift the fantastic season that is the cold breeze with mild temperature, which is available only in Kutraalam. From October to December North East Monsoon sets over in Tamil Nadu and the climate is cold and the rains are very heavy sometimes. I was lucky enough, to get the rainfall on the mountains previous evening so that the water flow was more compared to the previous days.

Papanasam also spelt as Pavanasam is a famous picnic spot in Tirunelveli district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It falls under the Ambasamudram Taluk. It is situated 60 km from Tirunelveli. The site is popular with tourists attractions like Thamirabarani River, Agasthiyar Falls, Siva Temple, Papanasam dam and Hydro Electric Power Plant.
In this video, I explored papanasam, figuring out that agathiyar falls is over crowded and spotting the most off beat location, which would be helpful for my viewers.

Watch: Water gushes from Courtallam Falls following heavy rains in Tamil Nadu
Heavy rains lashed Tirunelveli, Tuticorin and Kanyakumari districts of Tamil Nadu on Wednesday night. The overnight rains lead to flooding of Main Falls and Five Falls and Old Courtallam Falls. Bathing was banned at these falls, and police personnel were deployed to prevent people from going near the falls. Collectors declared a holiday for schools and colleges in these districts on Thursday.

Amazing Dog Shows in INDIA | ‘Saaral Thiruvizhaa’ in Courtallam
It was a visual treat for people, who were holidaying at Courtallam, where ‘Hort Show -2014’ was inaugurated on Sunday.
The three-day exhibition, being organised by the Department of Horticulture as part of ‘Saaral Vizha’, evoked good response.
With a colourful display of fruits and flowers with their botanical names, visitors, especially children, had a great deal of joy at the expo.
Among various features, a replica of angry bird, which is decorated with as many as 12,000 carnation flowers, remained the centre of attraction.
‘Saaral Thiruvizhaa’ begins in Courtallam
Studded with a range of cultural events performed by troupes from various parts of Tamil Nadu and neighbouring States, the ‘Saaral Thiruvizhaa 2014’ celebration got off to a colourful start at Courtallam on Saturday.
On Sunday (July 27), the ‘Hort Show 2014’ that comprises flower arrangement and vegetable carving will be inaugurated at Horticulture Department’s Eco Park near Five Falls at 11 a.m. While cartoon character ‘Angry Bird’ will attract the children in the flower show, a giant panda will be the centre of attraction at vegetable carving.
Cultural troupes from various parts of Tamil Nadu and from neighbouring States have been roped in to entertain the tourists during the festival.
Arrangements have been made for conducting swimming competition in the pool near Courtallam town panchayat office (July 27), dog show at Kalaivaanar Kalaiyarangam (July 28), rangoli and chubby baby show at Kalaivaanar Kalaiyarangam (July 29), environmental awareness painting competition at Sri Parasakthi College for Women, Courtallam (July 30), boat race at Vennamadaikulam (July 31) and Mr. Saaral Thiruvizhaa 2014 at Kalaivaanar Kalaiyarangam (August 1).
