Crater of Diamonds State Park | Historic Washington State Park | Camping in Murfreesboro, Arkansas
We traveled to South West Arkansas on this trip to visit the Crater of Diamonds State Park, and Historic Washington State Park. We arrived Murfreesboro, Arkansas to camp at Murfreesboro RV Park. The next day we drove over the Crater of Diamonds State Park to dig for diamonds. The next day we left there to get a coffee from the Feed Bin Cafe. After that we drover to an old camp ground that Cody used to camp at as a kid. Our finial stop of this trip was to visit Historic Washington State Park. There toured the historic buildings, watched a Civil War reenactment, and visited the largest magnolia tree in Arkansas.

Hunting Diamonds in Murfreesboro, AR at Crater of the Diamonds State Park
This is our family trip to Crater of Diamonds State Park in Arkansas.
It was a beautiful February day, and a much better day than the scorching hot day when we went for the first time in July last year.
There was a rain a day and a half or two days earlier, and so the likelihood that we would find a diamond was very good.
Hope you enjoy!!

I found a DIAMOND!!!! I went to Crater Of Diamond State Park in Murfreesboro, Arkansas and picked a .44 karat diamond right out of the dirt!! At first I thought it was snot, and then a piece of glass, so I had to get it checked out to make sure it was legit. The park as a gem specialist on sight, and sure enough it was a white diamond!
The park itself is incredibly interesting. Crater of Diamonds state park is a 371/2 acre plowed field positioned on an eroded 95 million year old volcano, which is also the world’s eight largest diamond-bearing volcanic crater. The park is located in Murfreesboro, Arkansas (population 1,631) and is the only public accessible diamond site in the world. Admission is $10, and you can keep what you find regardless of how much its worth!
Gem hunting and gold mining has turned into my new favorite hobby and I go out panning/sluicing for gold every week. I love it so much I started a new youtube channel all about finding gold and other Gems.

Diamond Hunt: Searching at the Crater of Diamonds State Park - Arkansas State Parks | PicBusters
Diamond Hunt? In the middle of Arkansas State Parks there is the only public diamond mine in the world; by paying a ticket of 10 dollars you can search for diamonds on your own. It’s strange but true; whatever you find, you can actually keep! It is a public treasure hunting paradise because an industrial mining of the diamonds isn’t worth the investment. For more than a century this volcanic crater has been producing diamonds; More than 100,000 diamonds have been found in the Crater of Diamonds State Park. This land was owned by the Arkansas Diamond Mining Company until 1972, when it was purchased by the State and was developed into a State Park. So far the hardworking treasure hunters have found 30 thousand stones in all different sizes and colours. The largest diamond ever found in the volcano crater was 40.3 carats, back in 1924. The diamond was named “Uncle Sam” after its finder’s own nickname, a worker at the Arkansas Diamond Corporation called Wesley Oley Basham. It is said to be the largest diamond ever discovered in the United States.

14-year-old finds 7.44 carat 'Superman's Diamond' at state park
When a 14-year-old baseball player traveled to south Arkansas to play on a diamond, little did he know he would leave with one.
Saturday afternoon, during his trip to Murfreesboro, Kalel Langford of Centerton, AR visited Crater of Diamonds State Park where he found a 7.44 carat diamond.
Langford and his parents had been at the park just 30 minutes when he spotted the shiny, dark brown gem, according to a news release from the park.
“It was just a few inches from a stream of water, with a bunch of other rocks that were about the same size,” he said.
Kalel picked up the gem and called to his dad, Craig Langford, who was searching nearby.
“Its color was so dark that we weren’t sure if it was a diamond,” the elder Langford said of the gem that was about the size of a pinto bean. “But, we knew we needed to have it looked at.”
The family went to the Diamond Discovery Center before leaving the park where it was confirmed: Kalel had found the 7th largest diamond registered at the park since 1972.
