PERTH TRAVEL DIARY [DAY 3] - Crawley Edge Boatshed (Blue Boathouse) and City of Perth
Day 3 - had a short trip in the morning to Crawley Edge Boatshed and the view was spectacular! Later on, we went to downtown perth to experience the city life of western Australians. Had to say i was surprised that Perth city is quite relaxing as i had imagined it to be hectic.
Location - Crawley Edge Boatshed and Downtown Perth.

Crawley Edge Boatshed
The Crawley Edge Boatshed (also known as the Blue Boat house), located on Mount’s Bay Road, is one of the icons of Western Australia that visitors to Perth should visit. Located on the Swan River, it is believed to have been built in the early 1930s. There is, however, no access into the shed.
Crawley Edge Boatshed & Cottesloe Beach, Perth WA
Crawley Edge Boatshed is about 11 minutes from Perth City and 10 minutes to Cottesloe Beach.These are one of the popular spots to visit in Perth.The blue boat house is located just by the road side.
Cottesloe beach is a popular spot and it was so windy in the evening but there were a lot of people there before sunset. It's also a great spot to see the beautiful sunset.

Iconic Crawley Edge Boatshed
The Crawley Edge Boatshed is one of Perth, Western Australia's icons, well-recognised and frequently photographed site in Crawley.[4] Sitting at the foot of Kings Park, on the Swan River.
This is our live ten minute GoPro video of family visit to see The Blue Boatshed on January 10, 2015.
The text on the plaque at the start of the jetty reads:
“Crawley Edge Boatshed”
The boatshed is thought to have been originally constructed in the early 1930s.
In 1944 the property situated behind was purchased from Ivy French by Dr Roland and Joyce Nattrass as a site for the family home. At the time real estate agent Richard Noble insisted the boatshed had to be purchased with the block of land, for the additional payment of 5 pounds.
The boatshed remained in the Nattrass family until 1972 when Roland Nattrass gave it to the Perth Sea Scouts patron, Ron Armstrong. A new and slightly larger boatshed was built around the original boatshed.
In the 1990s ownership passed to barry Krollman a keen sailor from the Royal Perth Yacht Club.
In early 2001 the boatshed was put up for sale and was purchased by Perth Lord Mayor Peter Nattrass, son of Roland Nattrass, At the time it was extensively renovated by his sons Tom and Nick Nattrass.
On 6th February 2004 the newly refurbished “Crawley Edge” boatshed was re-launched by triple solo-circumnavigator of the world Jon Sanders and single solo-circumnvaigator David Dicks.
After many years the boatshed continues to be a prominent landmark of the Swan River.

It has changed hands several times, and after being refurbished in the early 2000s, it was re-launched by triple solo-circumnavigator of the world, Jon Sanders, and single solo-circumnavigator David Dicks.

Well-known photo spot in Perth, Crawley Edge Boatshed aka Blue Boat House. Located at Mounts Bay Road, Perth WA 6005. Beautiful and Romantic place for pre-wedding's photo, couples, or even as a single such as selfie. Best time is when sunrise and sunset, better come in the early morning or late afternoon because this place is quite busy for tourist sometimes, even though just a photo spot area.

The Crawley Edge Boatshed is a boathouse located on the Swan River at Crawley in Perth, Western Australia. A well known landmark, the boasthed was built in the 1930's, and since the 1040's has been owned mainly by the Nattrass family. By 2001, the boatshed had become very run down.
