The 11-Year-Old Moroccan who speaks English, C++, SQL, Python and now learning German
I met Idder at Google Developer's DevFest conference in Agadir.
I was so amazed by his technical background and his ability to discuss and understand very advanced topics such as Machine Learning and Augmented Reality at his age.
Growing in Morocco, kids don't have many opportunities like in other developed regions in the world. Idder still doesn't have a proper laptop to do a lot of complex things or just to play his favorite video games.
I decided to make this spontaneous video with him to give you a tiny feeling of how a discussion with this young man can be.
Idder spoke at DevFestAgadir2018 about Python, making him the youngest speaker at the conference among other speakers from big companies like Google and different locations (USA, Germany, Spain, ...)

DDMMD : Dutch Designers Meet Moroccan Designers
Organisée sous le thème « Mapping Casablanca: Identity, What can we map? », elle portera sur les éléments suivants :
What can we map?
1. Systems (transportation, signage and wayfinding): urban systems are intricate overlaps of design, urban planning and user-experience. How do we people commute? How do they find their ways in the city? What’s the different between local and visitor and what characterizes ‘systems’ in Casablanca?
2. Communication (advertising, newspapers, language): Morocco is a multicultural context where languages overlap due to a long history of colonialism. What is the state of current media? How do advertisers, newspapers communicate with their audiences?
3. Aesthetics and design (architecture, color, street art): a rich visual culture with ethnic influences is still strongly affecting the physical spaces of the city; what are the main visual queues in Casablanca? What is ‘strictly’ Moroccan? What are the color schemes, architectural details and the main identity indicators?
4. People (ethnicities, social classes, work): in an active city, people interact in layers of ethnicities and social classes while functioning within complex professional and personal dynamics. What ethnicities exist in Casablanca? How do they coexist? What is perceived as ‘local’? And how do people like to be represented?
5. Problems (political, social, communication): situated in an unstable Arab region, what are the main problems facing the residents of Casablanca? Emigration, unemployment, islamophobia and class hierarchies constitute the main challenges; how do people interact and communicate vis-à-vis colonial history and everyday politics?

'place the sun sets; the west'; Standard Moroccan Tamazight: ⵍⵎⵖⵔⵉⴱ, translit. Lmeɣrib), officially the Kingdom of Morocco (Arabic: المملكة المغربية, translit. al-Mamlakah al-Maghribiyah, lit. 'The Western Kingdom'; Standard Moroccan Tamazight: ⵜⴰⴳⵍⴷⵉⵜ ⵏ ⵍⵎⵖⵔⵉⴱ, translit. Tageldit n Lmaɣrib), is a country located in the far west of North Africa with an area of 710,850 km2 (274,460 sq mi). Its capital is Rabat, the largest city Casablanca. It overlooks the Mediterranean Sea to the north and the Atlantic Ocean to the west, bordered to the east by Algeria and to the south by Mauritania. Morocco claims the areas of Ceuta, Melilla and Peñón de Vélez de la Gomera, currently under Spanish jurisdiction.Since the foundation of the first Moroccan state by Idris I in 788 AD, the country has been ruled by a series of independent dynasties, reaching its zenith under the Almoravid and Almohad dynasties, spanning parts of Iberia and northwestern Africa. The Marinid and Saadi dynasties continued the struggle against foreign domination, allowing Morocco to remain the only northwest African country to avoid Ottoman occupation. The Alaouite dynasty, which rules to this day, seized power in 1631. In 1912, Morocco was divided into French and Spanish protectorates, with an international zone in Tangier. It regained its independence in 1956, and has since remained comparatively stable and prosperous by regional standards.
Morocco claims the non-self-governing territory of Western Sahara, formerly Spanish Sahara, as its Southern Provinces. After Spain agreed to decolonise the territory to Morocco and Mauritania in 1975, a guerrilla war arose with local forces. Mauritania relinquished its claim in 1979, and the war lasted until a cease-fire in 1991. Morocco currently occupies two thirds of the territory, and peace processes have thus far failed to break the political deadlock.
The unitary sovereign state of Morocco is a constitutional monarchy with an elected parliament. The King of Morocco holds vast executive and legislative powers, especially over the military, foreign policy and religious affairs. Executive power is exercised by the government, while legislative power is vested in both the government and the two chambers of parliament, the Assembly of Representatives and the Assembly of Councillors. The king can issue decrees called dahirs, which have the force of law. He can also dissolve the parliament after consulting the Prime Minister and the president of the constitutional court.
Morocco's predominant religion is Islam, and its official languages are Arabic and Berber; the latter became an official language in 2011, and was the native language of Morocco before the Muslim conquest in the seventh century C.E. The Moroccan dialect of Arabic, referred to as Darija, and French are also widely spoken. Moroccan culture is a blend of Berber, Arab, Sephardi Jews, West African and European influences.
Morocco is a member of the Arab League, the Union for the Mediterranean and the African Union. It has the fifth largest economy of Africa.

Hot Deserts - Secrets of World Climate, Episode 4
THE HOTTEST PLACES on our earth. Endless expanses of bare rock and dunes. And yet also the location of amazing cities, and rich cultures, both past and present. Separating the tropics from the temperate latitudes, these are the climates of the hot deserts of Planet Earth.
See this part of the planet like you've never seen it before in a new and original Earth documentary written and produced by GeoDiode.
The fourth episode in a series exploring all the major climate zones of the world, here we show this part of the world in its full beauty, and uncover the secrets of why it is that way and show you the cities that lie within its influence.
From the Mojave, Sonora and Chihuahuan deserts of south-west United States (including the hottest place on Earth - Death Valley) and northern Mexico, through the arid coast of Peru, and the Gran Chaco of north-west Argentina, the Americas feature unique biomes of aridity and heat.
The largest of all deserts, the Sahara, spanning the vast northern stretches of Africa, and continuing east into the Horn of Africa and the Middle East and beyond into southern Iran, Pakistan and western India - the central continents of Earth have the greatest areas of hot and dry lands anywhere on the planet.
In southern Africa, the Namib and Kalahari deserts offer a counterpoint to their much greater northern brother.
Lastly, the majority of the island continent is covered by the endless plains of the Red Heart of Australia, and the Outback - the Great Sandy, Victoria and Gibson deserts.
Once home to incredible civilisations of the past, and highlighted by the ancient Egyptians of the Nile, Petra of Jordan and the Mughal Emperors of Agra and its stunning Taj Mahal mauseleom, the deserts are now home to incredible, almost near-future looking cities like Las Vegas and Dubai that glitter in the clear desert night.
Countries that feature deserts in this video:
United States (California, Nevada, Arizona), Mexico, Peru, Argentina, Morocco, Egypt, Jordan, Sudan, United Arab Emirates, Iraq, Namibia, Pakistan, India, Australia
Cities featured in this video that lie within the hot desert, mild desert, semi-arid and steppe climates:
Las Vegas Nevada, Phoenix Arizona, Monterrey, Lima, Marrakech, Cairo, Baghdad, Dubai, Khartoum, Mogadishu, Karachi, Alice Springs.

A Typographic Maghribi Trialogue
Laura Meseguer, Kristyan Sarkis, Juan Luis Blanco
ATypI 2016 • Warsaw, Poland
Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw ASP
In the Maghreb, the confluence of native cultures with different colonial periods have resulted in an extraordinary diverse heritage. The history of this region and the Andalus could be told in more than twenty languages that could be written with any of the three common writing systems: Latin, Arabic and Tifinagh. In this context, the Typographic Matchmaking in the Maghrib project of the Khatt Foundation came into being as a way to facilitate a cultural trialogue as well as shed a typographic spotlight on this largely ignored region in terms of writing and design traditions. The specific goal of the collaboration is the research and development of tri-script font families that can communicate harmoniously. The project creates an excellent opportunity for interaction and conversation, first with the other teams on the project, and second, more specifically with the members of our own team, as we research the environment in which those scripts originated, evolved and are used, through field trips to Marrakech, Córdoba and Granada. By the time ATypI 2016 takes place, the project will be nearing the end, and we will be able to share not only the result of such a fascinating research project but also the experiences and lessons learnt in the process.
New Food Experiences Make a Great Vacation; Quick Travel Tips #23b by Debbie Gerber
Have you ever wondered what makes vacation memories that last forever. One of the things that make a great memorable vacation is experiencing food from that area. We traveled to Miami, Spain and Morocco. In each place we had a new food experience that greatly enhanced our vacation and the interaction between us as a couple. We ate Cuban Sandwiches, Homemade Ice Cream, Chocolate covered ice cream, a tapas meal or chicken, pork, meat balls, squid, and clams. In Morocco we had soup, chicken, cusec cusec, wood fired oven bread, Coca Cola, mint tea and honey cakes.
