Crich Tramway Village (National Tramway Museum) Tram Day 2017
The Crich Tramway Village in Derbyshire in the English Midlands has an extensive collection of mostly British and some European Tramcars, many of which are operable. The village built on the site of a former limestone quarry aims to recreate the atmosphere of British cities where trams were once a common feature of everyday life.
The Tram Day featured an intensive service of cars and some maintenance vehicles which don’t usually venture out during regular operating days.
The line runs for approximately 1.6 Km’s (1 Mile).
Crich Tramway Museum & Village Derbyshire Mar 2016
A trip to the National Tramway Museum & Village at Crich (near Matlock) in Derbyshire in March 2016.
3 trams were in action that day. The tram we were on was Ex-Leeds City Tramways No. 345, built in 1921 and restored at a cost of £300,000. Others operational on the day were Glasgow Corporation Tramways No. 1068, built in 1919, & London County Council Tramways No. 106, built in 1903.
The video shows the extent of the line that is there, just over a mile long with lots of interest in each direction.
Crich Tramway Village United Kingdom
Step back in time along our recreated period street where you won’t have to wait long for the rumble of a vintage tram. Many of the buildings along the street have been rescued from towns and cities across the UK, such as the Derby Assembly Rooms façade which came to Crich after a tragic fire. The Red Lion Pub and Restaurant came all the way from Stoke and was re-built brick by brick. Also look out for the street furniture which is dotted along the street, including the Bundy Clock at Town End Terminus and The Exhibition Hall windows which were rescued from the Doncaster tram depot.

Crich Tramway Village 60th Anniversary Part 1, September 2019
After my overnight stop in Derby, I begin the second day of my trip with the short journey to Whatstandwell station, where I take the steep uphill walk to the Crich Tramway Museum.
The Crich Tramway Museum, located in the village of Crich is home to the National Tramway Museum, home to over 60 trams of mostly British origin running through a recreated street and out into open countryside up to Glory Mine, a running distance of around a mile.
In this first video we arrive at the site in time for the opening, taking in the preset photo opportunities with trams on display, before moving to the depot fan in time for the bulk of trams to come off the depot, and enter service for the day. Continuing to explore the site we take numerous rides, and with trams running every 6 minutes on an almost continuous service there was almost constant action. Part 1 concludes with a visit to the Great Exhibition Hall, home to the museums main display, detailing the history of tramways from the very beginning to the glory days of tramways in the UK, an amazing exhibition.
Part 2 from my visit to the Crich Tramway Museums 60th Anniversary weekend will be uploaded next Monday at 1800, hit subscribe to make sure you don't miss it!

BLACKPOOL JUBILEE 762 AT CRICH TRAMWAY VILLAGE - 25th August 2017.
An interesting piece of footage from Blackpool Jubilee car 762 at Crich on Friday 25th August 2017. The last time I rode on this car was back in the late 80s, when it was still resplendent in its corporation green and cream livery, although of course nowadays it looks very different. Thankfully, the majority of passengers were upstairs on this journey, meaning I could get some uninterrupted footage including the variable tone from the chopper electronics when accelerating, as well as all the other sounds which make this a great car to travel on - you'll know what I mean!.
The dashboard proved to be a solid mounting point for the camera (with approval from the friendly driver of course!)
Anyway, in this short video, 762 sets off from the Town End terminus before calling at the request stop at Victoria Park.
The debate as to whether 762 will retain her purple garb with sponge related accessories or be returned to original livery will continue for a good while yet. As it is, the car remains a very popular choice for young families.
