LONDON WALK | Tower of London - Surrounding Area | England
A first-person perspective London walk tour of the Tower of London.
Experience all of the sights and sounds as Watched Walker (yes, I’m talking about myself in the third person!) takes us on a walking tour through the streets of London, featuring the area around the Tower of London. The route begins underneath Tower Bridge, heading west alongside the Tower of London (riverside), finishing at the west side of the Tower of London.
Sights seen along the tour include the White Tower, Traitors’ Gate, Tower of London Shop, Three Barbary Lions sculpture by Kendra Haste, and views of the River Thames, The Shard, City Hall, and Tower Bridge.
And in each video I've hidden a blinking eye, can you spot it? (It could appear more than once). In addition to the blinking eye, I've also added the Watched Walker logo to various scenes–it could be on buildings, vehicles or any other objects, so keep an eye out for it too!
Footage recorded April 2017.

London Beaches: River Thames landscape and architecture
The beaches, banks and foreshore of the River Thames in London form a very attractive place. But the availability of public stairs with access to the foreshore has been in decline for 3 centuries.
Another big change in the 20th century was the cleaning of the the river water. It is still brown, but that's mud. Industrial pollution has been stopped. So has sewage pollution, except when stormwater drains are overloaded. So the next step is a great programme of habitat creation, beach improvement and the protection of the foreshore archaeology. The PLA is primarily a Port Authority but has significant environmental responsibilities under the Harbours Act of 1964 Section 48(a) and under the EU Habitats Directive, adopted by the UK in 1994. The PLA has duties to ensure biodiversity, conserve habitats and to favourable conservation status, natural habitats and species of European importance. The Thames was a great natural habitat when it became crown property, in 1066.
There are good examples of habitat creation on Bugsby's Reach and on Battersea Reach. So we need a landscape architecture study to determine where habitat restoration could take place.

London, England travel: Tower of London
Tower of London. Actually a series of towers surrounded by a double wall. Officially called Her Majesty's Royal Palace and Fortress The Tower of London, more commonly known as the Tower of London. This historic monument is located in central London, England on the north bank of the River Thames. More than a day trip from Thornbury Castle, and certainly worth the travel! (You can view this video, and other travel videos in full-size and near-DVD quality, travel stills and more at jpmeyer.com). Thornbury Castle is part of the von Essen Group of hotels, a private collection of individual country house hotels in the UK, each with a distinctive style and character of its own according to vonessenhotels.co.uk, but we think of it as Real People having Real Fun!

Tower of London - Time to Travel
The Tower of London is visited by two-million tourists each year. William the Conquer built the White Tower fortress on the River Thames shortly after being crowned King of England in 1066. Over the centuries the Tower has served as a royal residence and prision. The Tower has played a bloody role in English history. Thousands were executed on nearby Tower Hill and some, including three Queens of England, were beheaded on the Tower Green. Two young prinices were taken to the Tower and never seen alive again. The bodies of two children were found years later sealed in a wall - a murder mystery from a time long gone by. Today, Yeoman Warders, also known as Beefeaters lead guided tours offering a dynamic and often humorous version of the history of this special place. The Crown Jewels are kept in the Tower. See the Traitors Gate, The Bloody Tower and the Chapel Royal. Take Time to Travel to the Tower of London, it's a living embodiment of English history and well worth a visit. Special thanks to Yoeman Warder Mitch for a great tour.

Planning a trip to London? Check out these tips on what you'll see on a visit to the Tower of London, also known as the Bloody Tower. If you like haunted houses, don't miss the ghost tour!
The Tower of London is also known as the Bloody Tower, and it’s earned the name. Since 1066, when William the Conqueror had it built to frighten his subjects into submission and to threaten those who wanted to invade his kingdom, it has seen the death and imprisonment of royalty–along with a lot of other people. This is where the former queens Catherine Howard and Anne Boleyn were executed. Prince Edward V was kept prisoner in the Tower before he vanished, as were bishops, kings, dukes, and more. The Tower of London is such an imposing fortress, it’s where the Crown Jewels are kept safe. With all that bloodshed, it’s no wonder some believe the Tower of London is haunted; you can even take a ghost tour. If that’s not your thing, check out the medieval palace inside the Tower instead. See the Yeoman Warders–or the “Beefeaters”–to learn about the old Royal Bodyguard. Search for the resident ravens; it’s said that England will fall if they leave the Tower. The Tower of London has so much history, you can’t
afford to miss it.

London Attractions:Tower of London River Cruise London Eye Tour. London/England/UK. Traveling:
The Tower of London is the oldest palace, fortress and prison in Europe. History has it that King Edward of England backed down on his promise to give the throne to William, Duke of Normandy and ended up giving the throne to Harold Godwinson, his English brother in law.
Discover the priceless Crown Jewels newly displayed in 2012, join an iconic Beefeater on a tour and hear their bloody tales, stand where famous heads have rolled, learn the legend of the Tower's ravens, storm the battlements and get to grips with swords and armour and much more!
The Tower began its life as a simple timber and stone enclosure. The original structure was completed by the addition of a ditch and palisade along the north and west sides. This enclosure then received a structure of stone, which came to be called The Great Tower and eventually The White Tower, as we know it today.
Despite the Tower of London's grim reputation as a place of torture and death, within these walls you will also discover the history of a royal palace, an armoury and a powerful fortress. Don’t miss Royal Beasts and learn about the wild and wonderous animals that have inhabited the Tower, making it the first London Zoo.

Tower of London and it's History - London Attractions
Are you searching for the top attractions in London which you will need to visit while you are in the city? There are a couple of ones to be mentioned which people always know about and visit without even searching, one of these touristic attractions in London is the Tower of London.
The history of the Tower of London was written first when William the conqueror built a mighty stone tower at the centre of his London fortress back in the 1070's, defeated Londoners back at that time used to look at this tower in awe, which is exactly the same thing now when all those millions of visitors come to check it on a yearly basis.
The Tower of London is not just a building that astonished people when they come to visit it from the outside, but it is also the home for different traditions that are still living in it until today, such as the Ceremony of the Keys as well as the ghost stories and the terrible tales of torture and execution.
The Tower of London is also the protector of the Crown Jewels, it is home of the Yeoman Warders and its legendary guardians, the pampered ravens and it has also been home to a wide array of institutions that include the Royal Mint, the Royal Armouries and even a zoo.
Through the long history of the Tower of London, it has been known as the secure place where the royal possessions were guarded and even where the royal family itself was guarded in the times of war and invasions. Over all those years, the Tower of London was used as a luxurious place by the monarchs, but we should never forget that this tower has been always seen as a symbol of fear as well and this goes back to the rivals and enemies who the kings and queens used to imprison within the walls of the tower.
The Tower of London is also known as the White Tower and it is located on the north bank of River Thames in central London; it is found just beside the famous Tower Bridge of London which is one of the other top attractions of the city. The Tower is a complex of several buildings which are located within two concentric rings of defensive walls and a moat, and there were several phases of expansion in the 12th and 13th centuries which were mainly done under Kings Richard I, Henry III and Edward I.
With all the things that have written the history of this huge castle in London and the different things it is considered responsible for, like protecting the royal possessions and the royal family at times, it has also been used as a prison in the 16th and 17 centuries and there were many famous figures who have fallen into disgrace during that time, like Elizabeth I before she became a queen, Sir Walter Raleigh and Elizabeth Throckmorton who were all held within the walls of the castle. This use of the castle actually led to the appearance of the phrase sent to the tower, but despite this reputation about the place when it comes to torture and execution, there were only seven people executed within the tower before the World Wars of the 20th century.
After the World Wars, the castle was restored several times and was used for different reasons, it was also used for executions once again and eventually it was restored and opened to the public so that they could come in and check the place.
Today, the Tower of London is one of the top attractions of the city that is visited by millions of people per year. The Tower of London is cared for by the charity Historic Royal Palaces and it is protected as a World Heritage Site under the ceremonial charge of the Constable of the Tower.
When London is mentioned in any conversation there is, there are a couple of touristic attractions which are usually mentioned. The Tower of London is one of those attractions as well as the Tower Bridge that is located right next to it - and it is believed that the two names are related to one another - but there is also Buckingham Palace which is considered the most famous now in the city ( Big Ben which identifies London as being an important attraction in it ( London Eye which is now known as Coco-Cola London Eye and which gives people views all over the city ( there is also the Chinatown in London ( London Aquarium ( and the famous Natural History Museum (
Looking back into the history of the places that you visit in every single city you travel to will bring lots of information and will give you the chance to try and picture it all, adding new information to your mind.
