- The Cu Chi Wildlife Rescue Station rescues animals that are confiscated from the illegal animal trade in Ho Chi Minh City or other surrounded provinces. This is the fist multi-species rescue station in the South of Vietnam that can takes of many endangered wild species. After the animals have recovered and have been rehabilitated, they are returned back to the wild.

SOS Exhibition - Educating children on wildlife consumption
SOS Exhibition is a mobile educational exhibition aims to educate children aged 12-15 years old in secondary schools in Ho Chi Minh City about wildlife consumption. The SOS travelling exhibition is a tent of about 60 square mettre that includes different interactive exhibits, models, objects and games. The SOS Travelling Exhibition Tent emphasises that consumers are the most dangerous threats to wildlife. Everyone can contribute to wildlife protection by committing to Say NO to illegal wildlife products.
Guiding students at the SOS Travelling Exhibition are more than 150 active and talented volunteer students from different universities in Ho Chi Minh City. These volunteers were equipped with adequate knowledge and skills through a carefully designed training course and then they took charge to educate and guide children at the exhibition.
SOS Travelling Exhibition is one component of the SOS Programme. This is an initiative of WAR in cooperation with Ho Chi Minh City DOET and Ho Chi Minh City Forest Protection Department in December 2011. The SOS programme includes four components including (1) SOS traveling exhibition, (2) Visiting Cu Chi Wildlife Rescue Station, (3) Integrating Wildlife Education into Biology Subject Grade 7 and (4) integrating wildlife education into extracurriculum activities.
1. Since the launching ceremony in 3rd Dec 2011 to the end of this academic year 2014-2015, the SOS Traveling Exhibition has been traveling to 120 secondary schools in 17 districts. Approximately 121,000 students and teachers have participated in the exhibition. ( The Gab’s Story that is a part of the Exhibition was also published in English and Vietnamese and distributed widely to students of HCMC. (
2. To date, 50 field trips with roughly 2000 students, teachers and education managers from HCMC have been visiting Cu Chi Wildlife Rescue Station.
3. In academic year 2014-2015 and 2015-2016, the integration of wildlife protection in ten lessons of Biology Subject Grade 7 has been conducted in all approximately 300 secondary schools of 24 districts of HCMC. (
4. The extracurriculum activity component was launched in this academic year 2015-2016. All approximately 300 secondary schools were provided guidlines on how to integrate willdife protection into extracurriculum. WAR provided further supports to 35 secondary schools of Tan Binh and Cu Chi in organised those extracurriculum activities which are wildlife contests and gameshows. (
In adtiontion to an active volunteer network, the SOS Programmes is also resulted a fanpage entitled “SOS Bảo vệ Động vật hoang dã” ( The fanpage managed by the SOS programme’s volunteers aims to provide wildlife knowlwedge alongside with the Biology Subject Grade 7 in order to support teachers and students to learn about wildlife.

GIẢI CỨU CHIM SẮP TUYỆT CHỦNG MẮT KẸT 3 NGÀY TRÊN DÂY ĐIỆN CAO THẾ
Ngày hôm qua, mạng xã hội lan truyền hình ảnh một chú chim bị mắc kẹt trên dây điện cao thế tại đường Phan Xích Long, Quận Bình Thạnh, TP HCM. Điều đáng nói, chú chim này đã bị dính chặt trên dây điện cao thế suốt 3 ngày nhưng vẫn sống sót phi thường. Ngay sau đó, hàng trăm cư dân mạng đã chia sẻ thông tin kêu gọi giải cứu chú chim.
Trong 3 ngày qua, nhiều người yêu động vật và các bạn trẻ tại TP HCM đã tìm cách giải cứu chú chim nhưng bất thành. Nguyên nhân là do chú chim này bị dính chặt trên dây điện cao thế cách mặt đất hàng chục mét. Một cái kết đẹp đã đến khi ngay trong chiều tối qua, lực cứu hộ và kiểm lâm TP HCM đã điều một xe nâng chuyên dùng để sửa chữa đường dây điện trên cao để giải cứu chú chim!
Đây là những hình ảnh được cư dân mạng chia sẻ rầm rộ trong 3 ngày qua kêu gọi giải cứu chú chim bị mắc kẹt trên đường Phan Xích Long. Nhiều người cho rằng đây là chim nhà nuôi, không may bị xổng mất ra ngoài. Nguyên nhân khiến chú chim này mắc kẹt là do chiếc dây buộc ở chân chú chim này cuốn vào dây điện khiến nó không thể bay đi đâu .
Một xe nâng chuyên dụng cùng lực lượng kiểm lâm đã được điều động đến hiện trường. Đường dây điện cao thế này đã được cắt điện, một xe thang cũng được điều đến để giải cứu chú chim này. Cuộc giải cứu đã rất hy hữu này đã thu hút rất nhiều sự tò mò, quan tâm của người dân đi đường. Sau khoảng 20 phút, lực lượng cứu hộ đã giải cứu thành công chú chim. Khi đưa xuống mặt đất, chú chim này vẫn hoàn toàn khỏe mạnh sau đó được thả vào lồng để mang về kiểm tra sức khỏe.
Thông tin ban đầu, đây là loại chim Cắt lung xám quý hiếm ở Việt Nam và đang có nguy cơ tuyệt chủng. Chim có chiều dài khoảng 24-33cm với sải cánh dài 50-73 cm. Đây là loài thích sống ở nơi quang đãng, bay thấp và nhanh gần mặt đất.
Sau khi được giải cứu khỏi dây điện, chim sẽ được đưa về trạm cứu hộ động vật hoang dã Củ Chi để chăm sóc nuôi dưỡng.

A dedicated forklift and forest rangers were dispatched to the site. This high voltage power line was cut off, a car ladder was sent to rescue the bird. When brought down to the ground, the bird is perfectly healthy and then released into the cage to bring back health checks.
Originally, this was a rare gray-shanked bird in Vietnam and is in danger of extinction. Birds are about 24-33cm long with a wingspan of 50-73cm. This is a species that likes to live in the clear, low and fast near the ground.

What are the threats to Siamese crocodiles
The name Siamese crocodiles may not be familiar to most of us. They are among the most endangered reptiles in the world today. These fresh water crocodiles were previously found throughout South Asia, in Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Malaysia. But today, their surviving population can be seen only in the Mekong River basin and wetlands in Cambodia, and a few other places.
Even here, their habitat is fragmented, owing to hunting and human activities. The main threat to Siamese crocodiles are humans. Aggressive hunting for crocodile skin, conversion of rainforest habitats into agricultural farms, use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers etc have contributed greatly to the declining population of these reptiles.
It is said that there are not more than 5000 Siamese crocodiles alive today. However, the crocodiles are extensively bred and maintained in captivity, in Cambodia, as well as in Thailand. There are also many conservation programmes underway in these two countries, which give a little hope regarding the future of these endangered crocodiles.
