AVANGUARDIE RUSSE
Vasilij Kandinskij. Dal paesaggio stilizzato all'astrattismo
Marc Chagall
Mikhail Larionov e Natalia Goncharova
Fante di quadri, cézannismo e post-impressionismo
Cubofuturismo
Astrattismo
Costruttivismo

Arkhangelsk city, Russia
Arkhangelsk overview
Arkhangelsk is a city in Russia, the capital of the Arkhangelsk region, located in the mouth of the Severnaya (North) Dvina River, about 40 km from the White Sea.
The population of Arkhangelsk is about 351,000 (2015), the area - 294.4 sq. km.
Arkhangelsk history
Archangel Michael Monastery was built in the North Dvina River estuary by Novgorod state people in the 12th century. That time, the most important trade center of the region was Kholmogory settlement located in the place where the Dvina and the Pinega rivers met. The region was conquered by Tsar Ivan III of the Moscow state in 1478.
The Russian Tsar Ivan the Terrible ordered the establishment of a new settlement called Novokholmogory (New Kholmogory) in 1584.
Later, the settlement was renamed after Archangel Michael Monastery located nearby. At that time, it was the only Russian seaport used for trading with Europe.
Arkhangelsk features
There are two airports in the city (Talagi Airport and Vaskovo Airport). Arkhangelsk is an important seaport, one of the Russian timber and fishing centers.
The coat of arms of Arkhangelsk was approved in 1780. In the golden field of the shield, you can see the flying Archangel, armed with a flaming sword and shield, striking the defeated devil.
White nights occur from May 17 to July 26. During this period, in clear weather, natural light allows to carry out all types of work, read newspapers, etc. around the clock.
Arkhangelsk is served by two airports: Arkhangelsk Airport (Talagi) and Vaskovo (local flights). Arkhangelsk Airport (Talagi), located 11 km from the city, has flights to/from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Murmansk, Naryan-Mar.
The city is the cultural and historical capital of northern regions, a birthplace of northern culture, traditions and history.

The city is an important economic, transportation, scientific, educational and cultural center in Russia and the vast Volga-Vyatka economic region, and is the main center of river tourism in Russia. In the historic part of the city there is a large number of universities, theaters, museums and churches. Nizhny Novgorod is located about 400 km (250 mi) east of Moscow, where the Oka River empties into the Volga. Population: 1,250,619 (2010 Census);[8] 1,311,252 (2002 Census);[17] 1,438,133 (1989 Census).[18]
The city was founded in 4 February 1221[19] by Prince Yuri II of Vladimir. In 1612 Kuzma Minin and Prince Dmitry Pozharsky organized an army for the liberation of Moscow from the Poles. In 1817 Nizhny Novgorod became a great trade center of the Russian Empire. In 1896 at a fair, an All-Russia Exhibition was organized.

The Storytellers: Poem of the Cold, by Joe Dunthorne
According to the chronicles, Sviyazhsk was founded in 1551 by Khan Shahghali and the following year became the military base for Russian troops participating in the siege of Kazan. Located on the hilly island at the juncture of the Volga and Sviyaga rivers, for centuries it was considered one of the most well-guarded towns. Sviyazhsk is now being restored and rebuilt under a local government program.

Sabantuy. Farmer's Holiday. Real Russia ep.104
Sabantuy is a farmer’s holiday of the end of the spring sowing.
The word “sabantuy” comes out from Bashkir and Tatar language where “saban” literally means “plow” and “tuy” means “holiday, celebration”. So it’s the celebration of plow.
Sabantuy is a national holiday around Bashkir and Tatar people which is usually celebrated in the first days of June all over the rural areas.
The main distinctive elements of Sabantuy include the traditional sporting competitions such as Kurash (Tatar wrestling), horse racing, race-in-sack, pillar-climbing, egg-in-spoon-in-mouth-racing, sacks-battle on the crossbar, pot smashing, finding a coin in aqatıq (a beverage made from sour milk), and other contests. Such activities take place on the maydan, which would usually be located at the edge of a forest.
A tradition, called soran,] was held to collect a fare for guests of the festival and prizes for the winners of the contests. Rook's porridge, a ritual porridge, was cooked before the Sabantuy to treat children in the village. Another tradition was praying at the cemetery.
In the recent years Sabantuy is also often combined with the folk and pop music festivals, as well as accordion music festivals, named Play, accordion!
At the 12th of June, 2015, we drove 250km north-east from the city of Ufa and came to the Mesyagutovo village, which is located in Duvanskiy District of the Republic of Bashkortostan, Russia to one of the places where village people celebrated Sabantuy.
The horse race, kurash fighting, folk singing under accordion and truly Tatar songs from the residents of Ulkundyi village, a tatar village in Duvanskiy district of Bashkortostan, were waiting for us.

28th Summer Universiade 2015 - Gwangju - Korea - Welcome
28th Summer Universiade Gwangju - Korea - July 3rd to 14th, 2015
A relatively small city in Asia with unknown treasures, Gwangju is getting ready to reach out to the young people of the world. The concept of the 2015 Gwangju Universiade is 'EPIC'. EPIC symbolises Gwangju's special history as well as its dedication to the Universiade. Standing for 'Eco-friendliness, Peace, IT and Culture', EPIC strives for great epic poetry filled with striking impressions and fervent passion.
These four visions are the principal concepts of the Universiade.
Ecoversiade... for sustainable development
An indispensable aspect of modern-day sporting events is the preservation of the environment. The Gwangju Universiade has formulated a strategy that combines the reduction of costs and the preservation of the environment by minimising the number of new constructions.
Out of the 77 competition venues (42 competition venues, 35 training venues) needed during the Universiade, 97.4% will be refurbished. The competition venues for swimming and gymnastics have not met the international standards and therefore they will be the only ones newly built. The first strategy in the preparation of the Gwangju Universiade is to minimise the financial burden while enhancing economic efficiency through the implementation of eco-friendly and sustainable methods.
Peaceversiade... declaring the values of democracy, human rights and peace in the world
Gwangju is a historic city that advanced Korea's democratisation process through the Democratisation Movement of May 18th, 1980. The spirit of Gwangju's citizens dedicated to democracy, human rights and peace, who rose up against dictatorship, has become a model of democracy in Asia. A single inter-Korean team will be organised in the city of Gwangju where the festival of peace will unfold. The young people of South and North Korea, the only divided nation on earth, will participate as one team to leave a deep impression on people around the world and make progress for achieving peace on the Korean peninsula.
ITversiade... a ubiquitous sporting event enjoyed anytime, anywhere
The Gwangju Universiade will be the most efficient sporting event in terms of IT equipment since it will use the cutting-edge telecommunication technology of the Republic of Korea and the state-of-the-art photonics representing Gwangju. Details on the course of the Universiade, including the schedule and results of sports events as well as the management and information on the Universiade, will be integrated so as to be organically linked to the Internet interface and mobile information management system. The Total Integration Management System (TIMS) will be put in place, enabling service anytime, anywhere and from any device.
Cultureversiade... a feast of global culture unfolded in the cultural city of Asia
Korea's representative city of art, Gwangju has welcome quite a number of renowned artists. Held since 1995 with the vision of passing on the tradition of art, the Gwangju Biennale is considered one of the world's three major biennales. With the opening of the Asian Culture Complex in 2014, Gwangju is poised to take a quantum leap forward as the cultural hub of the world. The 2015 Gwangju Universiade will become a sports and cultural festival for university students worldwide. It will offer them the opportunity to experience the diverse culture and art of Korea, and share and enjoy the diverse culture of the world by integrating the cultural contents of the Asian Culture Complex. The Gwangju Universiade will become a cultural Universiade that is rich in culture and filled with more artistic enjoyment than any other sporting event staged to date.
