Cylburn Arboretum (207 acres) is a city park with arboretum and gardens, located at 4915 Greenspring Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland. It is open daily without charge.
The arboretum began as the private estate of businessman Jesse Tyson, who started construction of Cylburn Mansion in 1863. The house, designed by Baltimore City Hall architect George Aloysius Frederick, was eventually completed in 1888 and remains intact, a stone structure built of gneiss from Tyson's quarries at Bare Hills, Maryland, with mansard roof, tower, and an Italianate cupola. It became the Cylburn Wildflower Preserve and Garden Center in 1954, and in 1982 was renamed the Cylburn Arboretum Association.
The Cylburn Mansion houses a display of watercolor paintings of Maryland wildflowers that is open to the public.
Today the arboretum contains an extensive collection of trees and woody shrubs based loosely on the Tyson's original plantings. Collections include azaleas, bamboo, beeches, boxwoods, chestnuts, conifers, hollies, Japanese maples, magnolias, maples, Maryland oaks, and viburnum.
The arboretum also includes a number of flower and vegetable gardens, as well as greenhouses designed and built in the 1960s by Lord & Burnham. The greenhouses grow plants for the city's parks, and are not open to the general public.
The Cylburn Nature Museum, located in the garage of the Carriage House, displays natural history exhibits of Maryland birds, bird eggs from the late 19th century, butterflies and moths, rocks and minerals, fossils and seashells, games, and habitat dioramas. Cylburn Arboretum and Maymont Mansion Fieldtrip Fails
Filming can be challenging with weather and technical difficulties. My editor and I visited two beautiful historical arboretums , Cylburn Arboretum in Baltimore, MD and Maymont Mansion in Richmond, Virginia. At Cylburn Arboretum, I ran out of memory, and at Maymont Mansion we were stormed out before getting down to the main gardens. We still managed to enjoy ourselves. I hope you enjoy these small glimpses of these beautiful attractions.

Baltimore is a major city in Maryland with a long history as an important seaport. Fort McHenry, birthplace of the U.S. national anthem, “The Star-Spangled Banner,” sits at the mouth of Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. Today, this harbor area offers shops, upscale crab shacks and attractions like the Civil War–era warship the USS Constellation and the National Aquarium, showcasing thousands of marine creatures.
Baltimore is a popular tourist destination in Maryland, in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States of America, near Washington, D.C. It is perhaps most famously known historically as the city where Francis Scott Key wrote the lyrics for the Star Spangled Banner during the Battle of Baltimore of the War of 1812. Today it has become a major center for tourism and travel. Local highlights include excellent seafood (steamed blue crabs, raw oysters, Maryland crab cakes, and Maryland crab soup) and Camden Yards (the first retro major league ball park and where the Baltimore Orioles play). Baltimore possesses a vibrant arts scene with the largest free arts festival in the US (Artscape) occurring annually in July, a renowned arts museum American Visionary Arts Museum that is dedicated to outsider art, and the Maryland Institute College of Art and the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins. It is also home to Johns Hopkins University, Morgan State University, University of Baltimore, Loyola University, Goucher College, and the Notre Dame of Maryland University.
Baltimore has an absolutely staggering number of officially designated neighborhoods, Inner Harbor, If you are a tourist, you come here. Fells Point could not be more complementary to the Inner Harbor—historic. An incongruous mix of Baltimore's central business district, the University of Maryland-Baltimore, the awe inspiring Lexington Market, the infamously seedy Block, and the Bromo Arts District.
One of the nicest sections of the city, home to the performing arts district, Penn Station, and a host of other attractions (Walters Art Museum, the original Washington Monument, dining and wining on Charles St, the University of Baltimore, Station North Arts District etc.) that most visitors foolishly pass over. South Baltimore
Industrial blue-collar South Baltimore is dying, and is quickly being replaced with upscale gentrified neighborhoods like Federal Hill.
Most visitors to the area know only Johns Hopkins University and the always interesting commercial strip along Charles St nearby. But it is unfortunate that they overlook the quirkiest of quirky neighborhoods, Hampden. Infamous West Baltimore. If you have watched the Wire, this was where the crime was taking place! But don't be fooled. There are some major tourist draws here, like the Maryland Zoo in Druid Hill Park, Pimlico Racecourse, and Edgar Allen Poe's House.Baltimore's great rivalry between east and west is certainly an example of the narcissism of small differences. Attractions in the east are very few and far between, but things are changing fast as booming Johns Hopkins Medical Campus expands and demolishes in its wake.

80,000+ #TULIPS!? Sherwood Gardens in Baltimore City
Sherwood Gardens is a 6-acre park located in the Guilford neighborhood of #Baltimore City, Maryland. In addition to well-groomed, standard ground cover (Azaleas, evergreens, etc...), Sherwood Gardens is famous for its nearly 80,000 #TULIPS that peak in late April. During the 1800s the property on which the Sherwood Gardens rest was part of the Guilford estate of A. S. Abell, founder of The Baltimore Sun. The location of the gardens was a pond, which was filled in when the area was developed for housing in 1912. John W. Sherwood, a son of the president of the Baltimore Steam Packet Company (the Old Bay Line) and one-time chairman of the Sinclair Oil Company, began planting the gardens in the 1920s near his home. He allowed the public to visit the gardens during the month of May. Sherwood planted his gardens with tulips imported from the Netherlands. Following his death in 1965, Sherwood Gardens was acquired by the Guilford Association, which then expanded them. The gardens are now open to the public year-round. For more info:

USS Constellation - Baltimore, MD
Taken from when we were in Baltimore last year. Got a chance to capture some footage of the USS Constellation which was built in 1854.
Needless to say, we kept a respectful distance from the ship itself. No imagery is worth putting a piece of history such as this at risk.
As the USS Constellation is considered a National Park, we also followed all of the rules and regulations for not taking off or landing in areas considered a part of the National Park itself.
What a beauty to be able to see.

In their nearly 10 years together, Kristina Skare and David Lakoskey have traveled the world. They’ve been to all seven continents and have a goal of visiting 100 countries and all 50 states.
But their first stop on Wednesday was the Bureau of Vital Records in Cook County Clerk Karen A. Yarbrough’s office, where they became the first couple of 2019 to get a marriage license in Cook County, and in doing so were also married by Clerk Yarbrough – in her first marriage officiated as Cook County Clerk.
