...The Cocaine Cowboys Came to Miami
On July 11, 1979, in broad daylight at Dadeland Mall, three Colombian drug dealers assassinated two rival drug runners. They came prepared to do battle, said a police spokesman on the scene.
Although Miami's cocaine war was an acknowledged fact, this shocking killing is recognized as beginning the era of the Cocaine Cowboys.
