WOW WOW WOW!!! Officially dead haha. Hiroshima was so emotional but I learned so much I'm definitely going back my next visit! The deer at Itsukushima shrine were a little more bitey than the ones that were in Nara but still cute none the less. Also I met the sweetest girl there and she's super cool!

■TripNotes
Spot 1: Itsukushima Shrine
Miyajima, one of Japan's most scenic places, is home to the world heritage site, Itsukushima Shrine. The special characteristics of this shrine are its floating Torii gate that stands in the ocean, and the inner sanctuary of the Shrine. At high tide, the Shrine submerges in the water and appears to be floating on the sea in this sacred landscape.
Only in Japan will you find a Noh stage that floats in the sea and this traditional art can be witnessed under the moonlight at night.
Spot 2: Daisho-in Temple
Amongst all the temples in Miyajima, the oldest one is the Daihonzan Daisho-in Temple. It's a 20-minute walk from Miyajima Bridge. This place is peaceful and beautiful and from here you can gaze quietly upon the townscape on the other side of the shore.
Enshrined here are various Buddhas, including the Eleven-faced enlightened monk called Avalokitesvara. Bells resound in the entire area and the vibrant autumn colors of the Japanese Maple will cleanse your heart.
Spot 3: Hiroshima Peace Memorial
On August 6, 1945 an atomic bomb was dropped on the city of Hiroshima. This is the only building that survived the atomic bombings and has been preserved in the state it was at the time and was later on opened to the public as Hiroshima Peace Memorial. It was also registered as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1996.
Since 1964, a flame of peace continues to burn at the Hiroshima Peace Memorial, where the atomic bomb dome is located, in hope of a world free of nuclear weapons.
Spot 3: Orizuru Tower
Orizuru Tower was opened right next to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial in 2016. As a new tourist attraction in the city of Hiroshima, it's a facility devised to convey the past, present and future of Hiroshima. Enjoy panoramic views of Hiroshima city from the Hiroshima-no-oka observation deck.
Food: Oysters
Oysters are a gourmet delicacy inseparable from Hiroshima. While winter is the peak season to enjoy delicious oysters, they are available all year round.
There is a variety of oyster dishes available, but if you want to enjoy the original flavor of oysters, raw oysters, or baked oysters are recommended. The condensed flavor of freshly baked oysters is especially delicious.

Japan Vlog - Hiroshima & Miyajima ・ 広島 & 宮島
April 14-15, 2016
We took the shinkansen again, this time to Hiroshima. We spent the first day exploring Hiroshima, and the second day we visited the island Miyajima (or Itsukushima)
——
Hiroshima:
When we arrived at Hiroshima station it was raining, so we decided to take a tour bus “meipuru~pu” (haha so cute!). The tour bus stopped right next to Hiroshima station and our hotel. And since we had JR Pass, we could ride the bus for free. Otherwise I think it was 100 or 200 yen.
Atomic Bomb Dome & Peace Memorial Museum
Although visiting these places is not particulary “fun”, I think it is something everyone should see. A very grounding experience, and a stark reminder for future generations of the horrors of war. Very moving, and very sad.
Hiroshima style Okonomiyaki 広島風お好み焼き
We decided to try some Hiroshima style okonomiyaki for dinner. In this style, the ingredients are layered rather than mixed. Since it was raining we decided to just find a place inside the station. I think it was the one called “Takasago Maru” but there were lots of other restaurants as well, so I could be mistaken. We just went for the first one that we spotted.
Hotel Granvia Hiroshima
We stayed at this very convenient hotel with direct access to Hiroshima station. We had a standard room, so it was a bit small at usual, but it had a nice big bathtub and a great view. The hotel bar was also very nice, with good drinks.
———
Miyajima:
The next day the sun was shining, so we decided to take a ferry to this island. While officially named Itsukushima, the island is more commonly referred to as Miyajima, shrine island. Since we had the JR Pass we took the train to Miyajimaguchi and then the ferry from there, since it’s free with the JR Pass.
When we arrived, the first place we saw was an “Owls forest”, with real owls :o Though I love owls, however I don’t think it’s suitable to keep them as pets like that. And even though I love watching owls up close, I would love it more if they were free ~
Then we went on a stroll in the shopping street. A very touristy place, but filled with delicious things to eat. We tried Momiji manju, Hiroshima nikuman(ju), oysters, ice cream, fish cakes and more. Manju is a sort of steamed bun with different fillings, and Momiji Manju are distinguished by their momiji (maple) leaf shape. There was so many delicious things to try!
Itsukushima Shrine
Then walking along the beach over to Itsukushima shrine. Most famous for its giant torii gate, which at high tide seems to float on the water. Although, we didn’t go into the shrine, we decided to keep walking.
Daisho-in Temple (大聖院)
We instead walked to Daisho-in, located at the base of Mount Misen. It is also one of the most famous temples in Miyajima, with many beautiful buildings and statues.
Mount Misen (弥山)
From Daisho-in's temple grounds, a hiking trail leads to the summit of Mount Misen. We read that the hiking trail takes about 2 hours, and it was pretty accurate. It was quite hot that day, so I'm glad we decided to bring lots of water. Even taking the ropeway you still have to walk a bit to reach the summit. But if you can make it, the view is well worth the effort. We decided to take the ropeway down at least ~
Then we spent some time relaxing at the beach. And when evening came, the water had subsided a bit because of the tide, so we could almost walk over and touch the torii gate.

Yoshida Seimen Yokohama Ramen Makati Creekside Mall Makati by HourPhilippines.com
Yoshida Seimen Yokohama Ramen Makati Creekside Building Amorsolo Street Makati Revisited. A ramen franchise from Yokohama established in 2006 opened its first international branch in Manila on November 2014. Currently in charge of the kitchen is Japanese Chef Atsumu Mamiya who is one of the Executive Chefs from Japan.
Yoshida Seimen boasts of making fresh Noodles daily with a local combination of flours and showcase their noodle machine upon entering the restaurant. Only 10 percent of the ingredients are from Japan. These are; Soy Sauce, Katsusobushi (Dried skipjack tuna shavings) and Konbu (A type of seaweed, often used for broth.)
The soup base is made from pork, chicken and fish. Chicken is the main ingredient for their broth as it is less expensive in the Philippines and they boil a whole chicken to make a richer and creamier soup.
Highly recommended are their Nouku Ramen and Spicy Ramen, make sure to menage a trois with their thinly wrapped gyoza and crispy mixed tempura!
