Tropical Punch Tour: Thailand Video
Shaped exactly like an elephant's head, Thailand is a vast, sweltering hot tropical kingdom whose landscape ranges from powder white beaches with turquoise water to ultra-green, lush jungles and mountains full of traditional hill tribes. Insanely ornate, gold-splashed Buddhist temples dot the villages and cities, where ramshackle shantytowns nestle up to glitzy shopping malls. Ladyboys, tuk-tuks and picturesque floating markets also await the foreign visitor's dollars. Welcome to Thailand, one of the world's top tourist destinations.
Tropical Punch Tour: Thailand Video begins in quaint Phuket Town, deep in the Southern part of the country, where a loud and colorful school parade, gleaming Buddhist temples, huge golden dragon sculptures and gorgeous Sino-Portuguese shophouses grab the eye and won't let go. Next up comes a quick look at the tropical idyll of the Phi Phi islands, followed by a cruise up the rainy Chao Phraya river in Bangkok. There, in the sprawling capital city, we sample myriad sights and sounds, including magnificent Buddhist temples like Wat Pho and Wat Phra Kaew, and May Kaidee's vegetarian restaurant, home of the most delicious food to ever hit my tastebuds. Then comes a stop in the Northern town of Chiang Mai, dominated by the gold-splashed intricacies of Wat Phra Singh. After a pleasant morning bobbing in the rainbow-hued Damnoen Saduak floating market in Central Thailand, we head back to Bangkok to grab a gander of astonishing Buddhist temples Wat Kanlayanamit and Wat Arun. The clip draws to a close as we witness a couple of raw street musicians in the blown-out tourist mecca of Thanon Khao San.

Thailand contingent parades on Beach Road in Visakhapatnam
Thailand contingent parades for International City Parade during International Fleet Review on Beach Road in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
The Hon’ble President of India being the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, once in his/her term, reviews the Indian Naval (IN) Fleet as part of the ‘President’s Fleet Review’ (PFR). This review aims at assuring the country of the Indian Navy’s preparedness, high morale and discipline.
Many leading nations of the world use the opportunity provided by the Fleet Review to enhance mutual trust and confidence with their maritime neighbours and partners by inviting their ships to participate in the review. Normally called ‘International Fleet Review’ (IFR), this event then allows the host nation an occasion to display its maritime capabilities and the ‘bridges of friendship’ and trust it has built with other maritime nations. The last IFR was conducted in January 2001, off Mumbai with participation from 29 countries. This earned the country widespread appreciation and goodwill.
A Naval Fleet Review is a long-standing tradition followed by navies all over the world. It is a grand occasion when every operational ship is spruced up, proudly displaying its crest and its company in a spirit of loyalty and allegiance to its sovereign and the state. The idea of a Review was perhaps conceived as a show of naval might or an inspection of readiness for battle at sea. It still has the same connotation, but assembling of warships without any belligerent intentions is now the norm in modern times. Later reviews were used as a celebratory demonstration for victories in battle, for a coronation or on the occasion of the visit of royal guests. On many occasions, ships have sailed across the seas to participate in fleet reviews of friendly nations. While India boasts of a maritime tradition dating back to Vedic times, we do not have any authentic reports of fleet reviews of the past except for a mention of two influential women demanding a fleet review during the supremacy of the Marathas.

King's Birthday Isaan Festival Extravaganza
The grand finale of a four hour long Mor-lam music festival in celebration of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand's 87th birthday.
Saigon City Tour (Part 2: Self-Tour) | Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam | We.Are.Wanderful
On the third of our four days in Vietnam we wanted to do another city tour of Saigon to cover the still many other places we have not visited during our first city tour on our first day.
This time we decided to do the tour on our own (i.e., self-tour). Even before our trip to Vietnam I already booked us a chauffeured car-rental service via VN RENT-A-CAR (vnrentacar.com) for this city tour.
Our self-tour actually started early in the morning. From Majestic Hotel Saigon where we were billeted for the previous evening we just crossed the boulevard into the park along the Saigon River. The whole area is known as Riverside Saigon.
After strolling and sight-seeing in Riverside Saigon we had our breakfast back at Majestic Hotel, checked out early, and met our assigned driver for our rented car who was already waiting for us in front of the hotel.
For our first stop he brought us to the Saigon Sky Deck, the highest skyscraper in Ho Chi Minh City with a viewing deck that offers a 360° panoramic view of the Saigon. We took our time at the Sky Deck, even going for some light snacks at the Sky Deck cafe.
From the Saigon Sky Deck we proceeded to visit several museums and parks.
Unfortunately many of the museums in Saigon were closed because it was a Monday. What were we thinking?! We know too well from our previous travels that most museums all over the world are closed on Mondays! Nevertheless, at the very least we took photos in front of the museums that were closed.
The Ho Chi Minh Fine Arts Museum was also closed but it has a very nice outdoors arts display in its compound and the museum guard was kind enough to allow us to go in and take photos within the compound.
We were pleasantly surprised, too, that they let us in at the National History Museum.
Our morning tour ended with our visit at the Ho Chi Minh City Hall with its huge and long parade ground that goes all the way to the river.
After an all-American lunch in downtown Saigon Marielle and Johan had an opportunity to do bazaar shopping at Lucky Plaza Saigon.
We visited some more museums and parks in the early afternoon.
By mid-afternoon we already had to end our 2nd city tour of Saigon to allow for the 2-3 hours drive to the port city of Vung Tau where we were to spend our 4th and last day in our Vietnam Family Tour.
Here's a short slideshow video of our 2nd city tour and self-tour of Saigon.
