Heinz Field is a stadium located in the North Shore neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. It primarily serves as the home to the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League (NFL) and the Pittsburgh Panthers of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The stadium opened in 2001, after the controlled implosion of the teams' previous stadium, Three Rivers Stadium. The stadium is named for the locally based H. J. Heinz Company, which purchased the naming rights in 2001. It hosted the 2011 NHL Winter Classic between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Washington Capitals on January 1, 2011.
Funded in conjunction with PNC Park and the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, the $281 million ($375.5 million today) stadium stands along the Ohio River, on the Northside of Pittsburgh in the North Shore neighborhood. The stadium was designed with the city of Pittsburgh's history of steel production in mind, which led to the inclusion of 12,000 tons of steel into the design.[7] Ground for the stadium was broken in June 1999 and the first football game was hosted in September 2001. The stadium's natural grass surface has been criticized throughout its history, but Steelers ownership has kept the grass after lobbying from players and coaches. Attendance for the 68,400 seat stadium has sold out for every Steelers home game, a streak which dates back to 1972 (a year before local telecasts of home games were permitted in the NFL)[citation needed]. A collection of memorabilia from the Steelers and Panthers of the past can be found in the Great Hall.

Situated on about 8 acres in downtown Pittsburgh’s cultural district built on an urban brownfield location, the David L. Lawrence Convention Center (or DLCC) offers 1.5 million square feet of meeting and exhibition space. With Rafael Viñoly Architects as architect of record, its iconic design takes inspiration from the historic suspension bridges that span the Allegheny River adjacent to the riverfront site. When completed in 2003, the DLCC was designed to achieve LEED Gold - the largest LEED Certified building in the US at the time. Designed by Pashek Associates (now Pashek+MTR) in 2011, the South Terrace has the publicly accessible Living Roof which contributed to the DLCC’s certification as LEED Platinum for Existing Buildings in the same year.
Located on the cityside third floor, over 20,000 square feet features over 7,000 perennials, grasses, and sedums. The roof was designed to retain up to 80% of the annual rainfall by incorporating both extensive and intensive Roof Garden sections from Carlisle SynTec Systems. Since installation, the roof has shown to remain up to 50 degrees cooler on hot summer days. The extensive sections are vegetated using sedum mats while the intensive sections feature a meadow using 75 different native and adaptive perennials, separated by a walking path and a plaza for outdoor receptions. The Roof Garden with its water-jet cut blue paver plaza area reflects the nearby Allegheny River and speaks to the stormwater benefits of green roofs. In 2012, the DLCC established a Monarch Butterfly Waystation on the 4th floor North Terrace rooftop garden, which also boasts 1,200 square feet of Terrace Vegetable and Herb Gardens in planters. Based on research from the US EPA, it is estimated that the South Terrace Green Roof removes almost 680 pounds of particulate matter from the air annually, which is approximately equivalent to the annual emissions of 255 passenger vehicles. In 2017, the DLLC received Platinum re-certification under LEED for Existing Buildings: Operations & Maintenance, renewing the David L. Lawrence Convention Center's deep green credentials.

Hey guys! My class just recently took a trip to Pittsburgh, PA to visit Fallingwater by Frank Lloyd Wright, the Cathedral of Learning at U Pitt, the Phipps Botanical Gardens, Duquesne Incline, and the Mattress Factory Museum! It was definitely a blast and I loved spending time with my humanities friends! (P.S.- sorry for the low volume, Youtube is wack lol)

Trump: I'm Running for President to 'Give Back'
(14 Apr 2016) US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump told supporters in Pittsburgh on Wednesday night that he's running for president to give back to the country.
This country has been so great to me, so great to my family and I'm going to give back and we're going to give back the ultimate way.
Trump spoke at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center ahead of the Pennsylvania primary on April 26.
