De Weerribben-Wieden National Park is a national park in the Steenwijkerland municipality of the province of Overijssel, Netherlands. Comprising the largest bog of northwestern Europe, the park consists of two areas, De Weerribben and De Wieden, and has an area of roughly 100 square kilometres (39 sq mi).

Het Nationaal Park Weerribben-Wieden in de provincie Overijssel in Nederland is het grootste aaneengesloten laagveenmoeras van Noordwest-Europa. Het park bestaat uit twee gebieden, De Weerribben en De Wieden. Het heeft een oppervlakte van ongeveer 100 vierkante kilometer. De Weerribben werd in 1982 opgericht, De Wieden werd in 2009 toegevoegd. Het park heeft veel te bieden, zoals deze lepelaars.

In The Netherlands, in the province of Overijssel, is a little town called Kalenberg. It is a hidden gem as only locals know about this place. Kalenberg is located next to the town of Giethoorn (Venice of The Netherlands) which has gained fame not too long ago. If you prefer a quieter place we can recommend Kalenberg.
Kalenberg is located in De Weerribben-Wieden National Park. This National Park is a combination of two areas, called De Weerribben and De Wieden. It covers a complete area of roughly 100 square kilometres. The park was founded in 1882 and was called De Weerribben, but in 2009 De Wieden were added. The park is used for the production of reed, which is used to make thatch roofs on farms, fences and other things. The National Park is managed by the large private nature-conservation organisation Natuurmonumenten and by the Staatsbosbeheer (State Forest Service).

Northern Holland - Walkin' Drenthe between Aalden and 'De Klencke' [Jan. 1, 2016]
A happy start of 2016. A leisurely walk of some 14 km together with the brother, on the central plains of Drenthe - under very sunny, windless ánd somewhat wet conditions. But for sure no ice on the icerinks yet! Walked through lovely stream valleys and the farmlands & woodlands of the [former] estate 'De Klencke'. The relatively untouched villages of Aalden en Zweeloo deserved their visit too. This being New Year's Day - Hogmanay - of course there we also noticed ample remnants of the pyrotechnics of the night before.
With this vid comes some route information.

Het wordt ook wel het Hollands Venetië genoemd: het pittoreske dorpje Giethoorn. Sinds kort is het mogelijk om er een rondvaart te maken in fluisterbootjes die zijn toegerust met een GPS, een interactief navigatiesysteem.
Met een van tevoren ingestelde route kunnen zo de mooiste plekken worden bezocht. Voor kinderen is er een digitale educatieve speurtocht uitgezet.
Giethoorn is een populaire bestemming voor binnen- en buitenlandse toeristen. Het dorp ligt in een waterrijk natuurgebied in de kop van de oostelijke provincie Overijssel. Om turf te vervoeren zijn er in de zestiende eeuw vaarten en sloten gegraven. De huizen zijn vaak alleen via bruggetjes te bereiken. Giethoorn telt ruim 2600 inwoners en 176 bruggen.
