Dear Self. Exploring Hanoi Day 2
My first take on solo traveling.
My 2019 had been pretty tough. So, I decided to finally put reality on one of my bucketlist - solo traveling. And I chose to do it Indochina way.
I couldn't contain my excitement. Did some polishing on my itinerary and booked it all in just a week or two. I had few closest friends who knew about my plan. Then, came one day, out of a usual random convo with my mom, I bravely told her that I'm going on a new adventure and this time, on my own. She was excited for me. I even told her I'll bring her and papa to Vietnam by next year. And the thought of that made her so excited.
After few weeks, I lost my mom - it was so sudden nobody knew it was coming. I was so devastated, my world came crashing down and that final blow really did caught me off guard. I thought this year was just pretty tough but neither did I know it was just the tip of the iceberg.
Because of what happened, I was having second thoughts about pushing through my plans. But I know mama would be so happy and proud of me if I continue with my journey.
I found courage and strength in you, Mama. You always bring out the best in me. How I wish I could personally tell you all my stories but here it is, some clips that I made into a story that I wanted to show/tell you.
I met a lot of good people along the way and I know you have sent them angels to guide me. Mama, the world is so wonderful and I wish I could have shown you more beautiful places.
I have rediscovered myself, mama and it's all because of you. And these are all for you Mama. I am and will be forever grateful to the Lord that I have you as my mother. I love you. ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

Booked a tour to see Ha Long Bay
As they say, what is Hanoi if you won't see Ha Long Bay
I sat next to a lady wearing a mask, I was thinking, maybe she's Japanese
Her name was Tomoe, and I was right, she's a Japanese!
We rode a cruise going to the bay. The view was outstanding.
I also met a malaysian lady, she knows what's happening when you're wanting a good photo lol.
Initially wasn't planning to do kayaking to see the caves but then why waste the time, right?
So yeah, I and Tomoe ended up doing it. And the funny thing was, she's a first timer and me on the other hand sucks with directions.
We were just laughing all the way and reached 1 out of 3 sights. Lol But hey we did our best!
After the exhaustion from the kayaking, next stop was the Thien Cung Cave. After the tour, went back to the city to hunt down some of their delicious food. It was indeed an amazing day. Thank you, Tomoe, for hanging out with me. Again, it felt like my mom was with me. ❤️

Joined a group, I met a new friend Marta, shes from Indonesia. She's nice and we exchanged stories about places we've been to in Indonesia. Thank you, Marta, for having lunch together! Thank you for taking photos of me too.
Again, I felt like my mom was traveling with me. ❤️
After the free walking tour, I squeezed in some time to go for a short hike. Went to see the Taipei 101 in broad daylight via the Elephant trail. It was a steep trail, I was catching my breath as I need to do it in a hurry because I need to catch my flight to my second stop, Hanoi, Vietnam. But after that adrenaline rush, it was all worth it - such an amazing view, Mama!

It was said to be the Ha Long Bay in land.
It was a group tour and I met a new friend, Michelle, who's a Taiwanese. She was my seatmate and we weren't talking at first until I broke the ice and she became my partner in all the activities. I'm not an expert in cycling but still I wanted to do it, and she went with me. It was a bit tough for me because the bike was a bit high and it was first time to cycling in a rough road but I did enjoy every bit of it! I did it! Thank you, Michelle, for hanging out with me. Again, it felt like my mom was with me. ❤️

This tour is a fun way to experience the sights, smells and tastes of Hanoi. And definitely, the best way to see and learn about the real Hanoi not just the run-off-the-mill tourist sites.
We would journey you to so many parts of Hanoi that you would not otherwise see and even imagine about, from the maze of zigzagging backstreets, hectic traffic, old French boulevards to the off-roads along the Red river as well as tasting the most delicious dishes of the delicious dishes that Hanoi offers you. Also, we pass by most of the famous city’s landmarks!
