Deer Lake Trail - Olympic National Park - Washington State - United States
Here are highlights of the Deer Lake Trail in Olympic National Park in Washington State. From the Sol Duc trailhead at the north side of the park, the trail climbs 1,640 feet in elevation as it follows the Sol Duc River and Canyon Creek. This trail has many wonderful waterfalls including the iconic, three prong Sol Duc Falls. After 3.4 miles one arrives at beautiful Deer Lake in a wooded basin in the transition zone from montane to subalpine forest. Deer lake is at an altitude of 3,522 feet.
For this backpacking trip I was joined by my brother, Bill O'Leary and his future spouse, Laura Covington.
The trip was enjoyable and truly memorable.

BANDIT:
Bandit is a 2 year old rescue dog saved from a kill shelter in California. He was horribly matted, dirty and looked like a Terrier/Shih Tzu mix. After he was groomed it became clear he is a purebred Parti Poodle. A fairly unusual dog, a Parti Poodle has a unique coloration only possible when both parents are purebred Parti Poodles. The gene necessary to produce the coloration is recessive and both parents must have it. I would have loved him either way but am blessed to have him as he is. =8v)

Olympic National Park | Through The Lens
Olympic National Park is an incredible place for many reasons. It is incredibly diverse, and offers wild coastline, dense rainforest, and snow-capped mountains. We explore Hurricane Ridge, Ruby Beach, Rialto Beach, La Push, Forks, and more. Travel with me and see the park through my eyes and what I caught on camera. This is just a short documentation of what I saw, before I reveal the next few videos of footage I took in Olympic while I was there for several days. If you travel to Washington, you must drive the loop around Olympic National Park.
