Tourism in New York City serves over 56 million foreign and American tourists each year including day-trippers. Major destinations include the Empire State Building, Ellis Island, Broadway theatre productions, museums such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and other tourist attractions including Central Park, Washington Square Park, Rockefeller Center, Times Square, the Bronx Zoo, Barclays Center, Coney Island, South Street Seaport, New York Botanical Garden, luxury shopping along Fifth and Madison Avenues, and events such as the Tribeca Film Festival, and free performances in Central Park at Summerstage and Delacorte Theater. The Statue of Liberty is a major tourist attraction and one of the most recognizable icons of the United States. Many New York City ethnic enclaves, such as Jackson Heights, Flushing, and Brighton Beach are major shopping destinations for first and second generation Americans up and down the East Coast.
New York City has over 28,000 acres (110 km2) of parkland and 14 linear miles (22 km) of public beaches. Manhattan's Central Park, designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, is the most visited city park in the United States. Prospect Park in Brooklyn, also designed by Olmsted and Vaux, has a 90 acres (36 ha) meadow. Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in Queens, the city's third largest, was the setting for the 1939 World's Fair and 1964 World's Fair.
New York City - Central Park Video Tour (Part 1)
New York Habitat features a complete presentation of the New York's massive 843-acre oasis, right in the middle of Manhattan, Central Park.
You will see that you don't have to go far to escape the craziness of city life.
Please make sure to check out the related New York Habitat blog article to discover more information about Central Park.
The second part of the video tour of Central Park is already available.
Central Park hosts over 25 million visitors per year. It's the most visited park in the United States and its appearance in many movies and television shows has made it famous around the world.
Central Park is bordered on the north by West 110th Street, on the south by West 59th Street, on the west by Eighth Avenue -- which along the Park's borders are known as Central Park North, Central Park South, and Central Park West respectively.
Fifth Avenue retains its name and forms the eastern border of the park.
Central Park contains several lakes and ponds, extensive walking trails, two ice-skating rinks (one of which is a swimming pool in July and August), the Central Park Zoo, the Central Park Conservatory Garden, a wildlife sanctuary, a large area of natural woods, a reservoir with an encircling running track, 37 kids playgrounds, children's yoga, the Delacorte Theater and, of course, the famous Central Park Carousel.
Bethesda Terrace - Mid-Park at 72nd Street
When Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux designed the park in the late 1850's, they knew they needed a special place in the Park where people could gather. They needed to create a center for socializing, for people to see and be seen, Bethesda Terrace is that place. Hang around here long enough and you'll see it all... street performers, wedding photographs, musicians, artists and more.
Central Park Zoo and the Children's Zoo -- East Side at 64th St.
The Central Park Zoo had some bleak years back in the 70s and 80s. It had been neglected and its animals were living in small cramped cages. It has since been renovated and today it's a thriving healthy zoo with a lot to see. Come see the polar bears, the sea lion pool, monkeys and the amazing tropical rain forest. Just next door is the Children's Zoo. This is a must-see if you have kids. They've got goats, pigs, turtles, ducks and even a cow named Othello. The best part - most of the animals can be touched and fed.
Don't forget that a great way to experience New York is to rent an apartment from New York Habitat. We offer apartments all around Central Park including vacation rentals and Bed & Breakfast . It's a great alternative to the usual hotel and it'll save you money!
This studio accommodation with terrace on the Upper West Side (NY-12814) is a great option if you're looking for quick access to Central Park.
If you're looking to live across the street from the Park, you'll want to consider this amazing one bedroom vacation rental on Central Park South (NY-11135) . The building offers round-the-clock concierge staff, a full-service business center, onsite fitness center and health spa, valet parking, multilingual staff, laundry services and even cellular telephone rental. Last but not least, it is also home to the world famous Alain Ducasse restaurant.
Wolman Rink - East Side between 62nd and 63rd Streets
Wollman Rink was built in 1949 when Kate Wollman donated $600,000 for its construction. In the early 1990's, it was sold and is now run by Donald Trump.
The Pond
Our last stop in part 1 of our Central Park series is one of my favorite little corners of Central Park. It's called, quite fittingly, The Pond. It's in the southeast corner of the park and you'll find ducks, turtles, a few benches and a cute little stone bridge. It's hard to believe you're just a few feet away from 5th Avenue!
Now, that we will move on to our 2nd Video Tour of Central Park!
Do not hesitate to check other video tours by New York Habitat on other area of New York such as the madison square park area
New York City video tour Central Park #7 4K
In this, the 7th installment in a muli-part Central Park series, we continue to head north in the park and enter the Great Lawn. We also walk past the Delacorte Theater known for Shakespeare in the Park and other free performances. Then we head towards the Obelisk also known as Cleopatra's Needle. The Obelisk is the oldest man-made object in the park and the oldest outdoor monument in New York City. Finally, we end up at the Jacqueline Kennedy-Onassis Reservoir. Many think the reservoir supplies NYC with it's water. In reality, if that were the case, the supply would last six hours! New York City actually gets it's water from a series of tunnels that originate in up-state New York. If you enjoy, please like, comment and subscribe!

From Wikipedia:
Central Park is an urban park in Manhattan, New York City, located between the Upper West Side and the Upper East Side. Central Park is the most visited urban park in the United States, with an estimated 37.5–38 million visitors annually, and one of the most filmed locations in the world. Central Park is the fifth-largest park in New York City by area, covering 843 acres (3.41 km2).
Central Park was first approved in 1853 as a 778-acre (3.15 km2) park. In 1857, landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted and architect/landscape designer Calvert Vaux won a design competition to construct the park with a plan they titled the Greensward Plan. Construction began the same year, and the park's first areas were opened to the public in late 1858. Additional land at the northern end of Central Park was purchased in 1859, and the park was completed in 1876. After a period of decline in the early 20th century, New York City parks commissioner Robert Moses started a program to clean up Central Park. Another decline in the late 20th century spurred the creation of the Central Park Conservancy in 1980, which refurbished many parts of the park during the 1980s and 1990s.
Main attractions of the park include landscapes such as the Ramble and Lake, Hallett Nature Sanctuary, the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir, and Sheep Meadow; amusement attractions such as Wollman Rink, Central Park Carousel, and the Central Park Zoo; formal spaces such as the Central Park Mall and Bethesda Terrace; and the Delacorte Theater, which hosts Shakespeare in the Park programs in the summertime. The park also has sports facilities, including the North Meadow Recreation Center, basketball courts, baseball fields, and soccer fields.
Central Park was designated as a National Historic Landmark in 1963 and as a New York City scenic landmark in 1974. The park is owned by the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation (NYC Parks) but has been managed by the Central Park Conservancy since 1998, under contract with the municipal government in a public-private partnership. The Conservancy, a non-profit organization, contributes 75 percent of Central Park's $65 million annual budget and is responsible for all basic care of the park.

Fran Lebowitz on the Decline of New York City, Bookstores and the Rise of Tourism (1999)
Tourism in New York City serves over 50 million foreign and American tourists each year including day-trippers.
New York City has over 28,000 acres (110 km2) of parkland and 14 linear miles (22 km) of public beaches.[4][5] Manhattan's Central Park, designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, is the most visited city park in the United States.[6] Prospect Park in Brooklyn, also designed by Olmsted and Vaux, has a 90 acres (36 ha) meadow. Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in Queens, the city's third largest, was the setting for the 1939 World's Fair and 1964 World's Fair.
New York City has a rich musical culture and history.[13] Accordingly, numerous jazz, gospel music, rock and roll, rhythm and blues and hip hop tours are available. Popular locations for music tours include Harlem and the East Village.
Food tours are another option for visitors. New York is one of the top culinary destinations in the world. New York's food culture, influenced by the city's immigrants and large number of dining patrons, is diverse. Jewish and Italian immigrants made the city famous for bagels, cheesecake and New York-style pizza. Some 4,000 mobile food vendors, many of them immigrants, are licensed by the city and have made Middle Eastern foods such as falafel and kebabs standbys of contemporary New York street food.[14] The city is also home to many of the finest haute cuisine restaurants in the United States.[15] Food tours allow visitors to try a wide variety of these foods economically and learn about the city's culture.[16] Tour companies include New York Food Tours, Local Finds Queens Food Tours and Rum and Blackbird Tasting Tours.
Visitors to New York City also partake in sports tourism. Sporting events draw tourists to major venues such as the Yankee Stadium, Citi Field, and Madison Square Garden, and to street events such as the New York City Marathon.
New York City is one of the major film capitals of the world. Through specially arranged tours, tourists can visit the scenes of TV shows and movies such as Seinfeld, Friends, Sex and the City, Saturday Night Live, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Miracle on 34th Street, Godfather, and Taxi Driver.

About Central Park:
Central Park is an urban park in Manhattan, New York City. It is located between the Upper West Side and Upper East Side, roughly bounded by Fifth Avenue on the east, Central Park West (Eighth Avenue) on the west, Central Park South (59th Street) on the south, and Central Park North (110th Street) on the north. Central Park is the most visited urban park in the United States, with an estimated 37–38 million visitors annually, and one of the most filmed locations in the world. About Roosevelt Island:
Roosevelt Island is a narrow island in New York City's East River, within the borough of Manhattan. It lies between Manhattan Island to its west and the borough of Queens, on Long Island, to its east. Running from the equivalent of East 46th to 85th Streets on Manhattan Island, it is about 2 miles (3.2 km) long, with a maximum width of 800 feet (240 m), and a total area of 147 acres (0.59 km2). Together with Mill Rock, Roosevelt Island constitutes Manhattan's Census Tract 238, which has a land area of 0.279 sq mi (0.72 km2), and had a population of 9,520 as of the 2000 United States Census. It had a population of 11,661 as of the 2010 United States Census.
The island was called Minnehanonck by the Lenape and Varkens Eylandt (Hog Island) by New Netherlanders, and during the colonial era and later as Blackwell's Island. It was known as Welfare Island when it was used principally for hospitals, from 1921 to 1973. It was renamed Roosevelt Island (after Franklin D. Roosevelt) in 1973.
Roosevelt Island is owned by the city but was leased to the New York State Urban Development Corporation for 99 years in 1969. Most of the residential buildings on Roosevelt Island are rental buildings. There is also a cooperative named Rivercross and a condominium building named Riverwalk. One rental building (Eastwood) has left New York State's Mitchell-Lama Housing Program, though current residents are still protected. It is now called Roosevelt Landings. There are attempts to privatize three other buildings, including the cooperative.

New York Central Park in autumn beautiful pictures
Central Park, which has been a National Historic Landmark since 1962, was designed by landscape architect and writer Frederick Law Olmsted and the English architect Calvert Vaux in 1858 after winning a design competition. They also designed Brooklyn's Prospect Park.[46][47][48] Central Park is one of the most famous sightseeing spots in New York. It is bordered on the north by Central Park North, on the south by Central Park South, on the west by Central Park West, and on the east by Fifth Avenue. Only Fifth Avenue along the park's eastern border retains its name; the other streets bordering the park (110th Street, 59th Street, and Eighth Avenue, respectively) change names while they are adjacent to the park. The park, with a perimeter of 6.1 miles (9.8 km),[49] was opened on 770 acres (3.1 km2) of city-owned land and was expanded to 843 acres (3.41 km2; 1.317 sq mi).[1][50] It is 2.5 miles (4 km) long between 59th Street (Central Park South) and 110th Street (Central Park North), and is 0.5 miles (0.8 km) wide between Fifth Avenue and Central Park West. Central Park also constitutes its own United States census tract, number 143. According to Census 2000, the park's population is eighteen people, twelve male and six female, with a median age of 38.5 years, and a household size of 2.33, over 3 households.[51] However Central Park officials have rejected the claim of anyone permanently living there.[52] The real estate value of Central Park was estimated by property appraisal firm Miller Samuel to be about $528.8 billion in December 2005.[53]
Central Park's size and cultural position, similar to London's Hyde Park and Munich's Englischer Garten, has served as a model for many urban parks, including San Francisco's Golden Gate Park, Tokyo's Ueno Park, and Vancouver's Stanley Park. The park, which receives approximately 35 million visitors annually,[54] is the most visited urban park in the United States.[55] It is also one of the most filmed locations in the world.[56][57]
The park is maintained by the Central Park Conservancy, a private, not-for-profit organization that manages the park under a contract with the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation,[58] in which the president of the Conservancy is ex officio Administrator of Central Park. Today, the conservancy employs 80% of maintenance and operations staff in the park. It effectively oversees the work of both the private and public employees under the authority of the Central Park administrator (publicly appointed), who reports to the parks commissioner, conservancy's president. As of 2007, the conservancy had invested approximately $450 million in the restoration and management of the park; the organization presently contributes approximately 85% of Central Park's annual operating budget of over $37 million.[58] The system was functioning so well that in 2006 the conservancy created the Historic Harlem Parks initiative, providing horticultural and maintenance support and mentoring in Morningside Park, St. Nicholas Park, Jackie Robinson Park, and Marcus Garvey Park.[59]
The park has its own NYPD precinct, the Central Park Precinct, which employs both regular police and auxiliary officers. In 2005, safety measures held the number of crimes in the park to fewer than one hundred per year (down from approximately 1,000 in the early 1980s). The New York City Parks Enforcement Patrol also patrols Central Park. There is also an all-volunteer ambulance service, the Central Park Medical Unit, that provides free emergency medical service to patrons of Central Park and the surrounding streets. It operates a rapid-response bicycle patrol, particularly during major events such as the New York City Marathon, the 1998 Goodwill Games, and concerts in the park.
While planting and land form in much of the park appear natural, it is in fact almost entirely landscaped. The park contains several natural-looking lakes and ponds that have been created artificially,[note 2] extensive walking tracks, bridle paths, two ice-skating rinks (one of which is a swimming pool in July and August), the Central Park Zoo, the Central Park Conservatory Garden, a wildlife sanctuary, a large area of natural woods,[60] a 106-acre (43 ha) billion-gallon reservoir with an encircling running track, and an outdoor amphitheater, the Delacorte Theater, which hosts the Shakespeare in the Park summer festivals. Indoor attractions include Belvedere Castle with its nature center, the Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre, and the historic Carousel. In addition there are seven major lawns, the meadows,[61] and many minor grassy areas; some of them are used for informal or team sports and some set aside as quiet areas; there are a number of enclosed playgrounds for children. The 6 miles (9.7 km) of drives within the park are used by joggers, cyclists, skateboarders, and inline skaters, especially when automobile traffic is prohibited, on weekends and in the evenings after 7:00 pm.

This is what passes off as “art” today. In a contemporary twist on the Shakespeare classic Julius Caesar, which opened May 23 and will run until June 18 at Central Park’s Delacorte Theater located at 81 Central Park W, New York, NY 10023.So-called “Artists” have sunk to a new low by taking it upon themselves to make the new Julius Caesar look like President Donald Trump.Gregg Henry who is the main actor in the play bears a striking resemblance to President Trump in a business suit, red tie, and blonde hair. When he is brutally stabbed by Senators as he his giving a speech. And as if this wasn’t disturbing enough, his wife, Calpurnia, played by Tina Benko, speaks with a Slavic accent, not unlike that of the First Lady Melania Trump. The play, if you can even call it that, goes as far as showing Caesar himself while tweeting from a bathtub.
One play attendee, Laura Shaeffer, called it “Shocking and Distasteful.” She went on to add that that if this would have been done to any other recent President this would have never flown. She Made it very clear she doesn’t love the President but since he is the president you just can’t assassinate him on stage. And who is the main sponsor of this distasteful play you might ask? None other than the rag publication that is The New York Times, which is currently owned by the richest man in the world, the Mexican Carlos Slim.

PERU: HUMAN RIGHTS GROUP ACTS OUT THE HORROR OF TORTURE
Spanish/Nat
A group of actors and human rights activists launched a protest with a difference in Lima on Friday.
By acting out the horrors of torture in a city central square the activists sought to make citizens aware of the dangers of dictatorship.
They were protesting against the decision Peru took last week to withdraw from the jurisdiction of the Inter-American Human Rights Court.
It wasn't an ordinary performance by the Yuyachkani theatre group.
They performed in the central square as a way of protesting against Peru's withdrawal from the jurisdiction of the Inter-American Human Rights Court.
Human rights activists are worried that without the supervision of an international organisation Peru's justice system will deteriorate further.
SOUNDBITE (Spanish)
We are presenting this play about violation of human rights in our country because Peru is withdrawing from the Inter-American Court and is not joining the International Penal Court.
SUPER CAPTION: Francisco Soberon, Director of human rights group APRODEH
President Alberto Fujimori opposed to the court's ruling in June that Peru must retry four Chileans convicted of terrorism by a secret military court.
They had been sentenced to life imprisonment for terrorism in 1994.
The ruling had infuriated Peruvian officials who charge that complying could lead to demands for new trials for thousands of other convicted rebels.
The opposition members of Congress accuse Fujimori of using the bill to bury human rights cases against the government.
SOUNDBITE (Spanish)
It is a very serious matter and it's going to set Peru apart from the international community, as the condemnation by the US, the European Union and many other countries demonstrate.
SUPER CAPTION: Javier Diezcanseco from opposition party United Left
Peru has more cases pending in the human rights court than any other Latin American nation.
And some political analysts believe that Fujimori is using the sensitive issue of terrorism to undermine the Inter-American Court ahead of some important political cases about to be judged.
The Court was going to rule on Baruch Ivcher's case.
He was striped of his Peruvian nationality and his right to own his TV channel that was clearly opposed to government policies.
The Court was also going to deal with the case of the three magistrates from the constitutional tribunal who were removed from office after voting against the possibility of Fujimori's re-election for the third time.
SOUNDBITE (Spanish)
People don't really understand the relation between abiding or not by the Inter-American Court rulings and withdrawing from it and the cases that we are about to see in the future and have nothing to do with terrorism. People suspect, and the New York Times and the Washington Post also suspect that this has to do with consolidating an authoritarian power and guaranty, without the controls of an external body, a re-election (Fujimori's) that's clearly unconstitutional.
SUPER CAPTION: Diego Garcia Sayan, political analyst
Human rights sources say that hundreds of those imprisoned Peru did not receive fair trials.

SUMMARY
=======
Central Park is an urban park in Manhattan, New York City, located between the Upper West Side and the Upper East Side. Central Park is the most visited urban park in the United States, with an estimated 37.5–38 million visitors annually, and one of the most filmed locations in the world. In terms of area, Central Park is the fifth largest park in New York City, covering 843 acres (3.41 km2).
The park is owned by New York City Department of Parks and Recreation (NYC Parks), but has been managed by the Central Park Conservancy since 1998, under contract with the municipal government in a public-private partnership. The Conservancy, a non-profit organization, contributes 75 percent of Central Park's $65 million annual budget and is responsible for all basic care of the park.
