Denali National Park (Alaska) Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Denali National Park in Alaska.
Denali National Park is located about six hundred and thirty miles from the southern coast of Alaska and is nine thousand six hundred square miles of original Sub-Arctic wilderness. The history of the region began millions of years ago when mighty tectonic plates collided. The force of the collision folded the granite and sedimentary rock together at a huge elevation which subsequently formed the highest mountain in North America, Mount Mckinley. The coniferous forests consist primarily of birch and fir and deciduous trees and shrubs cover the stone-based valleys. An amazing variety of bushes, herbs and flowers turn the landscape into an array of bright colour. On the thin humus above the permafrost soil there’s vegetation such as Reindeer Moss, Wild Flowers, Reed Grass and Berries. The bright white fur of the dall sheep provide perfect camouflage in winter. Their favorite location is steep, rocky slopes where they feel safe from predators such as grizzly bears and wolves. The park was established primarily to protect the wild animals that were destroyed in large numbers by hunters at the beginning of the Gold Rush. But today Denali National Park is a natural paradise, a wilderness at the end of the world!

EPIC BACKCOUNTRY HIKE IN DENALI NATIONAL PARK AND PRESERVE
Had an amazing time in the backcountry of Denali National Park and Preserve. We were fortunate enough to fly out with Kantishna Air Tax and spend some time at their lodge before our hike. We took the long 6 hour bus ride back to the beginning of the park for our way back.
For flights into the park, check out Katishna Air Taxi:

Backpacking Denali National Park
5 day trip in the backcountry. We headed up north along the Toklat river for 5 miles, then cut west along Bear Draw creek for about 7 miles. We then followed a large river south for 5 few miles before heading 5-10 miles SW through a pass and down to the road.

We rode the bus about 65 miles in and then backpacked in a little over 3 miles to our first campsite. Since it's the middle of June, the sun stays up all night long.

Camp Couloir, Ruth Gorge, Denali National Park, Alaska 04/18/2014
Greg Stafford and I climbed and skied this couloir that we starred at every day from camp. Since I couldn't find a name for this line naturally it will be called the Camp Couloir.
Alaska Tour - Denali, AK - Stop #12
Today we traveled a little south out of Fairbanks, AK towards Denali, AK. Although the miles were just over 100, we traveled very slow over many construction sites with some requiring you to turn your engine off to wait your turn!
In Denali, we quickly got parked in the campground and signed up for a White Water Rafting trip on the Nenana River right across the street! This river is glacier fed, and the rapids are a Class 3-4, which means you will get wet! Luckily, with the water very cold, they provided very good 'Dry Suits' that fit you like a glove and keep the water out! We had a GREAT time surfing the rapids and getting wet!
The next day we went to Denali National Park for a 6 hour bus tour all over the Park. We saw numerous wildlife (Caribou, Moose, Dahl Sheep) and spectacular mountainous vistas! Unfortunately, Mt. McKinley (20,320 ft tall) was totally clouded over and not visible.
We would greatly appreciate your support by using the link below for all your future Amazon.com purchases. It will be totally transparent to your Amazon shopping, and doesn’t cost you a thing!
