These Are Hands Down The Best Places To Eat Fried Chicken
Though intrinsically connected with Southern cuisine, you can nowadays find phenomenal fried chicken at restaurants in pretty much any state. From the many exceptional fried chicken eateries around the country, we've plucked out the very best of the best. Good luck deciding which one you're going to try first.
The Philly cheesesteak has long reigned as Philadelphia's top culinary artifact. But thanks to one up-and-coming chain of Philadelphia restaurants, fried chicken is working its way up the list.
Eater Chef of the Year Michael Solomonov, his business partner Steve Cook, and local coffee shop owners Tom Henneman and Bobby Logue have been working to establish Philly as a fried chicken Mecca since opening Federal Donuts in 2011. The restaurant specializes in fried chicken, coffee, and donuts. That's all they serve. Henneman says,
It's three comforts under one roof.
Inspired by Korean fried chicken, the birds at Federal Donuts are twice fried for a, quote, teeth-shattering crispiness. The chicken can be coated in a choice of dry seasoning: za'atar, coconut curry, or buttermilk ranch. Or there's a wet glaze of chili garlic, sweet soy garlic, or honey ginger. Whether glazed, seasoned, or plain, the fried chicken is always served with a moist honey donut.
As a slave's granddaughter growing up in rural poverty, Mildred Council, nicknamed Mama Dip, likely never imagined she'd one day serve her fried chicken to fans including Michael Jordan and President Barack Obama. But she did — thanks to some of the most delicious fried chicken ever.
Mama Dip learned to cook working alongside her mother-in-law in a tiny takeout kitchen that quickly earned a reputation for serving the best homemade country dishes in town.
Since opening her own restaurant in 1976, Mama Dip has become a culinary icon. Before farm-to-table cooking was in vogue, Mama Dip sourced all her ingredients from local farmers. Mama Dip's menu hasn't changed much over the years, focusing on Southern comfort staples such as chitlins, smothered pork chops and fried chicken. Her crispy, southern-style birds are paired with classic sides including collard greens and fried green tomatoes.
Mama Dip passed away in the spring of 2018, but her culinary legacy lives on through her fried chicken, which is still served at Mama Dip's Kitchen by her children and grandchildren.

Epic Family Vacation Across the United States
Starting an epic family travel adventure really gets the heart pumping! Did we forget anything? Where are we staying tonight? Are we seriously going to do this??!!
We're traveling approximately 7,000 miles over the next month! We're going to make travel stops at Carlsbad Caverns, New Mexico; Grand Canyon, Arizona; the Utah National Parks, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Mount Rushmore, and wherever our interests take us. We have some things planned and some things not. We're winging it much of the way and excited about it!
Most people think we're crazy to travel this way -- taking two young kids across the country....in a car/SUV....few plans....have you lost your mind? Our kids are used to this kind of adventure. We travel for our living and truly do what we love when it comes to our life. We love traveling.
Can you imagine the memories we'll have from this adventure? It's one of those trips that can change the way you view the world; exposing you to completely new experiences.
Day one was a bit hum-drum -- although, it was completely unplanned, too. We weren't supposed to leave until the next day, but we were packed and ready, so why hold off?
We drove from our home in the Jacksonville, Florida area to New Orleans. We had a few stops along the way, but mainly just boogied down the road.
Our daughter has decided to cartwheel across the US, so we had to make a cartwheel stop and it was pretty cool! Just outside Pensacola, the rest area had a Navy Blue Angel flying out! It was very cool, especially so close to the 4th of July.
Dinner was also pretty cool, too. We wanted something local and found Hula's Bar and Grill in the Yelp travel app in Mississippi, just East of the Louisiana border. It was right on the intracoastal waterway with real pretty views. The food was pretty good and the service was definitely on island time.
Dinner provided a nice break from our travel before the final stretch into New Orleans. As we drove onto Canal Street (the world famous Canal Street, according to our navigation system!), local jazz musicians welcomed us to the city and a domestic dispute in the room next door overnight let us know, we're definitely in Nawlins, y'all!

A St Louis Ramen House
This video follows Steven Pursley as he tries to establish his ramen shop in the St. Louis food scene. He was on track to be a lawyer, he had received his bachelor’s degree in political science at 22 years old, but he decided he did not want to go to school any longer. He moved to Japan for 3 years to learn how to make ramen and to reconnect with his family’s culture.
Now that he is back in St. Louis he runs an invite-only dinner once a month where he, his sister Erika, and his girlfriend Kay turn their apartment into a ramen house. He’s trying to stand out from traditional ramen dishes by making vegan-friendly options and that also allows for more people to come to the pop-ups. They take donations for the meals and that money goes toward getting new equipment and funding the eventual opening of a restaurant.

Mississippi Blues Hwy 61 N - Vicksburg to Memphis Timelapse
The full, uncut but time lapsed video of the infamous Hwy 61 N from Vicksburg, Mississippi to Memphis Tennessee.. Join me as I drive through the delta and go through the following towns:
Valley Park, Onward, Carey, Rolling Fork, Nitta Yuma, Hollandale, Arcola, Leland, Shaw, Cleveland, Merigold, Shelby, Duncan, Bobo, Clarksdale, Coahoma, Lula, Dundee, Tunica, Walls & more.
US 61 is divided from the Tennessee state line to US 82 in Leland. The highway south of Vicksburg to Natchez is mostly divided and four-lane; only short sections through Port Gibson need to be upgraded.
From Natchez to the Louisiana state line, US 61 is now divided and four lanes. The Mississippi Department of Transportation is now upgrading the highway between Vicksburg and Leland to four lanes, beginning with replacement of the Yazoo River bridge at Redwood in Warren County.
The road is also known as the Blues Highway because it runs through the Mississippi Delta country, which was an important source of blues music. Highway 61 has been referenced in music by various artists with roots in the region.
The junction of US 61 and US 49 in Clarksdale is designated as the famous crossroads where, according to legend, Robert Johnson supposedly sold his soul to the Devil in exchange for mastery of the blues. It was on this stretch of highway that blues singer Bessie Smith died as a result of a car accident on September 26, 1937.

Driving Downtown 4K - New Orleans' Main Street - USA
Driving Downtown Streets - Canal Street - New Orleans Louisiana USA - Episode 63.
Starting Point: .
Canal Street is a major thoroughfare in the city of New Orleans. Forming the upriver boundary of the city's oldest neighborhood, the French Quarter or Vieux Carré, it served historically as the dividing line between the colonial-era (18th-century) city and the newer American Sector, today's Central Business District.
Canal Street is often said to be the widest roadway in America to have been called a street, instead of the avenue or boulevard titles more typically appended to wide urban thoroughfares.
New Orleans is a major United States port and the largest city and metropolitan area in the state of Louisiana. The city is named after the Duke of Orleans, who reigned as Regent for Louis XV from 1715 to 1723, as it was established by French colonists and strongly influenced by their European culture. It is well known for its distinct French and Spanish Creole architecture, as well as its cross-cultural and multilingual heritage.[8] New Orleans is also famous for its cuisine, music (particularly as the birthplace of jazz),[9][10] and its annual celebrations and festivals, most notably Mardi Gras, dating to French colonial times. The city is often referred to as the most unique[11] in the United States.
Economy
New Orleans has one of the largest and busiest ports in the world, and metropolitan New Orleans is a center of maritime industry. The New Orleans region also accounts for a significant portion of the nation's oil refining and petrochemical production, and serves as a white-collar corporate base for onshore and offshore petroleum and natural gas production.
Tourism
New Orleans has many visitor attractions, from the world-renowned French Quarter; to St. Charles Avenue, (home of Tulane and Loyola Universities, the historic Pontchartrain Hotel, and many 19th-century mansions); to Magazine Street, with its boutique stores and antique shops. According to current travel guides, New Orleans is one of the top ten most-visited cities in the United States; 10.1 million visitors came to New Orleans in 2004.
A 2009 Travel + Leisure poll of America's Favorite Cities ranked New Orleans first in ten categories, the most first-place rankings of the 30 cities included. According to the poll, New Orleans is the best U.S. city as a spring break destination and for wild weekends, stylish boutique hotels, cocktail hours, singles/bar scenes, live music/concerts and bands, antique and vintage shops, cafés/coffee bars, neighborhood restaurants, and people watching.
The French Quarter (known locally as the Quarter or Vieux Carré), which was the colonial-era city and is bounded by the Mississippi River, Rampart Street, Canal Street, and Esplanade Avenue, contains many popular hotels, bars, and nightclubs. Notable tourist attractions in the Quarter include Bourbon Street, Jackson Square, St. Louis Cathedral, the French Market (including Café du Monde, famous for café au lait and beignets), and Preservation Hall.
Entertainment and Performing Arts
The New Orleans area is home to numerous celebrations, the most popular of which is Carnival, often referred to as Mardi Gras. Carnival officially begins on the Feast of the Epiphany, also known as the Twelfth Night. Mardi Gras (French for Fat Tuesday), the final and grandest day of festivities, is the last Tuesday before the Catholic liturgical season of Lent, which commences on Ash Wednesday.
Food
New Orleans is world-famous for its food. The indigenous cuisine is distinctive and influential. From centuries of amalgamation of the local Creole, haute Creole, and New Orleans French cuisines, New Orleans food has developed. Local ingredients, French, Spanish, Italian, African, Native American, Cajun, Chinese, and a hint of Cuban traditions combine to produce a truly unique and easily recognizable Louisiana flavor.
Sports
New Orleans' professional sports teams include the 2009 Super Bowl XLIV champion New Orleans Saints (NFL), the New Orleans Pelicans (NBA), and the New Orleans Zephyrs (PCL). The Mercedes-Benz Superdome is the home of the Saints, the Sugar Bowl, and other prominent events. Each year New Orleans plays host to the Sugar Bowl, the New Orleans Bowl and the Zurich Classic, a golf tournament on the PGA Tour. In addition, it has often hosted major sporting events that have no permanent home, such as the Super Bowl, ArenaBowl, NBA All-Star Game, BCS National Championship Game, and the NCAA Final Four. The Rock ‘n’ Roll Mardi Gras Marathon and the Crescent City Classic are two road running events held annually in the city.

SHAVED ICE
SHAVED ICE, Shave ice or Hawaiian shave ice is an ice-based dessert made by shaving a block of ice. While the product can resemble a snow cone, snow cones are made with crushed, rather than shaved, ice.[1] On the Big Island of Hawai'i, it is also referred to as 'ice shave', though both terms (ice shave and shave ice) are used by locals.
Shaving produces a very fine ice that appears snow-like. Flavored syrups are added to the ice, which are absorbed by the ice instead of surrounding it.[2][3] A properly made shave ice product rarely requires a straw, since the flavors are in the ice and not at the bottom of the cup. Although the traditional American flavors are common, shave ice in Hawai'i is often flavored with local ingredients such as guava, pineapple, coconut cream, passion fruit, li hing mui, lychee, kiwi fruit and mango. Hawaiian shave ice is traditionally served in a conical paper or plastic cup with multiple flavors and with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and/or adzuki bean paste at the bottom of the cup. Sweetened condensed milk drizzled over the top is sometimes called a snow cap. This style of shave ice is common on the north shore of O'ahu, as well as on Maui and the Big Island of Hawai'i (where it is called Japanese style). Shave ice has its origins in Taiwan, as early as the 7th century AD.[4]
It was imported to America by Japanese immigrants. Japanese immigrants brought it along with them when they came to Hawaii to work in sugar plantations. After leaving plantations, they took up new professions. But by then Shave Ice & Snow cones had become immensely popular and part of Hawaiian culture. Snow ice—cream, milk, water, sugar and fruit, frozen and then shaved and served in cones—is popular in China, Korea, Taiwan and Indonesia and making inroads into the United States.[5]
