Sailing the British Virgin Islands Part II: Virgin Gorda, The Baths, Devil's Bay
On our sailing trip to the Brittish Virgin Islands we spent 2 days on Virgin Gorda. One of our favorite spots was The Baths National Park. The hiking and rock climbing in the Baths is like nothing else on earth.

Devil’s Bay, Virgin Gorda BVI
After either crawling through the boulders at The Baths or hiking down the path from Top of the Baths, the reward is stunning at Devil’s Bay. This small sandy beach is surrounded by huge boulders on each side. There is great snorkeling and it’s usually more of a quiet beach as compared to the main beach at The Baths.
There is no concessions, so bring water and food if you plan to stay. There isn’t much shade except for up by the trees a little.
The Baths and Devil’s Bay are amazing beaches, definitely must see spots when heading to Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands.

A Salty Passion: Hi! We are Ryan (RumShopRyan) and Crystal (Castaway Crystal), we document, photograph, and film the best the Caribbean has to offer. Whether it’s stunning beaches, relaxing hotels, friendly restaurants, or soggy beach bars…we want to share it and inspire others to explore the islands.
MEET US!
Who Is RumShopRyan:
Howdy! I’m Ryan and I hail from the land-locked, can’t get any further from the ocean, state of Kansas. I moved to laid back southwest Florida in 2001. I didn’t know a single person and didn’t have a job. Risky I know, but the ocean was calling and I had to answer.
I’m a huge fan of Kansas City sports, so you’ll probably see a lot of Jayhawks, Chiefs and Royals attire in my photos. Kansas City is a great town and I’m glad I’m from there, but the coastal life was calling. It’s kind of like Kenny Chesney’s “island boy” song. Check out the lyrics and you’ll see what I mean.
I write because I’m passionate about the Caribbean and the island lifestyle, and it’s my way to share it with you. If it has anything to do with the Caribbean, rum drinks, beach style music, or Caribbean culture, you’ll be able to find it on this site.
When in the Caribbean you’ll find a camera around my neck and note pad in my pocket. This is how I document the experiences in unique and interesting ways and bring it back to you, the Castaways.
Who is Castaway Crystal:
I was raised in Southwest Florida so it’s no surprise that I have a love for beaches, water and nature. As a child, most weekends were spent fishing in the warm gulf waters on the family boat. As an adult, most weekends are spent soaking up the sun on Ft. Myers Beach. Even though I have always loved the coastal life, I don’t think I fully appreciated it until I moved to Nashville, TN. I’m all about experiencing new things, and as a Licensed Massage Therapist I thought it would be amazing to massage some of Nashville’s biggest stars (a girl can dream right?). But I missed the sun and sand too much—and let’s not forget the rum runners! After a year I couldn’t take it anymore, this sun bunny moved back to her coast of somewhere beautiful.
I’ve always been passionate about photography and writing but my passions never really had a purpose until I met Ryan. I couldn’t be happier being Ryan’s first mate and sharing my photos and stories with you. May they inspire you to go after your tropical dreams and wishes. Make a plan…Set a date…Just go!
Exploring the Baths, BVI
One of the coolest places on the British Virgin Islands. The Baths are huge boulders strewn about next to a perfect beach. You can climb on the boulders, snorkel in the crystal clear waters around them, or hike around as well. We moored at Devils bay, and then snorkeled in, make sure to get their early because its one of the most populaur spots in the BVI.

THE BATHS - Island of Virgin Gorda, B.V.I. Best Aerial Footage
Aboard the Majestic Trimaran Freedom, we visited the Island of Virgin Gorda The Baths National Park. The centrepiece of this dramatic 7 acre area on Virgin Gorda's north shore is The Baths, a geological wonder comprised of awe-inspiring granite boulders, which form sheltered sea pools on the beach's edge. The protected area also includes Devil's Bay, which can be reached from The Baths by a series of ladders scaling the boulders. Just north of The Baths, Spring Bay is reached by a separate road and includes a lovely white sand beach. National Parks Trust's Description: Encompassing the beaches and rocky shoreline at the southwestern tip of Virgin Gorda, The Baths is a collection of massive granite boulders as large as 40 feet in diameter, with white sand beaches and secret rock pools. The cavernous surroundings are a result of the molten rock seeping up into the existing volcanic rock layers; because the molten rock did not reach the surface it cooled slowly and formed the hard crystalline granite layer. Further shrinkage and cracking formed blocks, which were exposed when the softer volcanic rock above eroded away. Weathering rounded the corners of the boulders to what they are today. These massive boulders are also found at Fallen and Broken Jerusalem. A series of steps and rope handrails guide explorers along a trail through the boulders from the beach at The Baths to the sandy expanse that is Devil's Bay. This popular daytime anchourage is ideal for swimming and snorkelling. The dinghy dock offshore prevents the beach from becoming overcrowded with dinghies, whilst mooring buoys protect the reef from anchor damage. Swim line markers guide vessels through safe channels when approaching the beaches, but caution should always be used and speeds should not exceed 5mph. Onshore facilities include bathrooms and lockers, creating a safe and enjoyable experience in this unique environment. Strong ocean swells can occur in the winter months, preventing use of the mooring buoys and access to the beach from the sea. Swimming is also discouraged - even though we did (it was tough) during these periods, due to the strong currents.
Worth the visit. Take off point for the drone is Spring Bay , The Baths close to Spanish Town, BVI.The GPS Coordinates are N18 25.823 W64 26.781
I do not do this professionally as many youtubers. I only for a way for me and my friends to remember our trips together.

Devil’s Bay And Baths BVI
First Stop on our cruise, British Virgin Islands. Went to Virgin Gordo in BVI and visited the very popular Devil’s Bay and Baths National Park. Was super packed and I would probably not do this again only due to the traffic, but it was indeed beautiful. Song is “Dancehall Days” by The Beautiful Girls.

Danger waves at Virgin Gorda Devil's Bay (The Baths) National Park
The WOW factor of this stunning beach always makes me feel like a little kid on Christmas morning. No matter what may be happening in life, once I get to The Baths, all is well with the world. I can't wait to get inside the boulder maze, and do a little exploring on my way to Devil's Bay. I love that beach too!
