Tapas in Granada + All The Tapas We Ate in Spain (via a terrible rap)
The thing I was most excited about regrading our 3 week trip to Spain was tapas. Little samples of food, which were often free with the purchase of a drink. I love food, I love drinking, I love free.
In this video, I break down everything you need to know about tapas. What exactly it is, how do you order it, what you can expect, how to get the best bang-for-your-buck, the origins of tapas, I even list all of the tapas we ate during our three weeks in Spain. This is the ultimate video on tapas and it's funny (mainly cause I am willing to make an donkey out of myself).
We shot this in Granada, Spain which is often called the best place for tapas because they offer more free tapas (with generous portions) than most other cities in Spain. Tapas was invented in southern Spain in the Andalusia area. Granada is a really beautiful place. It's hilly, so you'll easily work up an appetite. The bars there are really cool. The vibe is great. The drinks are smooth and cheap, especially considering you get free food with it.

Semana Santa (Holy Week) - Easter Processions in Granada, Spain
I promised I would explain what was going on in the thumbnail image (that surprised and shocked some folks) - and here it is.
This is just a little taste, and a very superficial description, of some of the sights and sounds of Holy Week processions in Granada in Southern Spain
I'll be releasing more videos from footage I shot in Spain over the next few weeks.

3. VIDEO GUIDE ????
⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯
It had been a LONG time since Yoly and I had been in Cordoba. And it’s a city that I have always loved. It’s full of mystery, history and of course incredible food! So in this video Yoly and I decided to do a tapas crawl across 5 of the top tapas bars in Cordoba, plus a few extra stops for good measure.
So where did we go?
1. Bodega Guzmán. A fantastic old bodega where they fill the glasses of Montilla Moriles to the brim (seriously) and the walls are lined with bullfighting memorabilia. This is a tertulia taurina, which means it’s a place where bullfighting aficionados get together to talk shop. And there were a few old boys there having their aperitif while we were there.
2. Taberna Salinas. A classic in Cordoba, and the best place for traditional dishes in my opinion. It’s been open about 100 years, and you can sit in the bar or the restaurant. We hit the bar, and ordered three local classics - rabo de toro (bull tail stew), salmorejo (cold tomato soup - thicker than gazpacho) and berenjenas fritas (floured and fried eggplant slices). All were fantastic.
3. Cuatromanos. Now a modern stop. Run by the couple of brothers, these guys are doing modern interpretations of classic dishes. We actually ate there for dinner that night as well. It was excellent. This is more of a restaurant than a tapas bar - so heads up there.
We next hit the famous mosque (mezquita) and also a place for Spain’s largest tortilla, Bar Santos. Does big mean delicious?
4. Taberna Góngora. Another classic joint in Cordoba. These guys are famous for their flamenquín, which is a local dish which is effectively rolls of pork which is then breaded and fried. It’s intense - but worth it. Especially when you dip it in mayo.
Next, another off-road stop. Snails! Cordoba’s snail seasons runs from about February until June and during the season stalls pop up all around the city. The caracoles come in different sizes and in different sauces - best one is the delicious cuminy and minty brother.
5. La Sastrería. Last stop was another modern joint, and we hit the bull tail stew again… this time in the form of a taco. We were seriously stuffed by now, but Yoly managed to pack it away.
Make sure you include Cordoba on your Andalusia trip!

Granada Food Tour - Spain
Granada is one of those few places in Spain that keeps the tapas tradition, where a plate of food is served for free, when you order a drink. Tapas in Granada is not only food, but a way of live. Every evening, no matter how the weather is, the local bars and restaurants will get filled with locals meeting their friends or family for tapas. As a foodie, I am always interested in the local flavours and there is no better way to discover them than through a food tour run by a local. Spain Food Sherpas was a perfect choice to take me around a Granada food tour, the city and show me both its traditional and its modern flavours.

???? ABOUT THIS VID! ????
⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯
Seville is one of the most amazing places in Spain to eat tapas. It has a fantastic mix of old school, traditional tapas bars, and modern, new tapas bars. It’s the capital of Andalusia and where the tapas tradition truly began. But if you want to get away from the tourist centre, and hit some very local and atmospheric tapas bars that are filled with locals and serve delicious food - then you need to head to Triana. It’s just over the Guadalquivir River and is a neighbourhood that has always had a very strong sense of identity. Locals say, I’m not from Seville, I’m from Triana!
In this video I head to five super local tapas bars in the Triana neighbourhood. We try everything from jamón to shrimp to pork cheek to tortilla. And we drinks wines, vermouth and sherry. I’m joined by some of my Devour Tours colleagues on the journey. So, if you want to have a truly local tapas experience in a real Sevilla neighbourhood, I suggest checking out these five places. We head to Bar Santa Ana, Cervecería La Granda, Las Golondrinas, Casa Cuesta, La Antigua Abacería.

3. VIDEO GUIDE: SPAIN'S BIGGEST TAPAS CHAINS ????
⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯
This channel is all about promoting the small, often family-run tapas bars and restaurants that serve up delicious food across Spain. But there is another side to this country's tapas culture, and that's a number of large tapas franchises and chains that have up to several hundred outlets throughout the country. This includes 100 Montaditos, La Sureña, Lizarrán and - a smaller one - Tapa Tapa
Lots of locals and tourists visit these bars, but I've never been (maybe once to one of them for a beer). So I was curious... what are they like? So today we hit 4 of the biggest ones, and taste the food, rating the food of each out of 5.
First we went to Lizarrán, which was probably the best of the bunch. The whole experience is very sterile, but it was busy and the food, while not very good, wasn't horrendous. It was just - well - loveless. And cheap.
Next we went to 100 Montaditos. This chain has outlets across Spain, and even some in the USA. We were told off for filming inside, so we got the food to go and shot the scene outside. I've never tried it, but the food wasn't good in my opinion. But hey, it is fast food, and it is cheap.
Next up was La Sureña. This was a step up from 100 Montaditos, and the cazón tapa (fried shark) was actually pretty good. But the prawns were flavourless and the bravas were not - in my opinion - bravas.
Finally we hit Tapa Tapa, Bar of Tapas. This chain has been operating for a number of years in Catalonia and recently popped up in Madrid. It has excellent reviews online. And I can understand why. It all looks like tapas, it tastes ok, the service was very good... but it's just a bit joyless. I could be in an airport somewhere in the world. So, while the best of the bunch, and more expensive, it wasn't great.
