Coleraine is a large town and civil parish near the mouth of the River Bann in County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. It is 55 miles (88.5 km) northwest of Belfast and 30 miles (48.3 km) east of Derry, both of which are linked by major roads and railway connections. It is part of Causeway Coast and Glens district.
Coleraine had a population of 24,634 people in the 2011 Census. The North Coast (Coleraine and Limavady) area has the highest property prices in Northern Ireland, higher even than those of affluent South Belfast. Golf courses, countryside and leisure facilities and attractions are to be found. It has an attractive town centre, and a marina. Coleraine during the day is a busy town, however at night the town is relatively quiet, with much of the nightlife in the area located in the nearby seaside towns of Portrush and Portstewart. Coleraine is also home to the one of the largest Polish communities in Northern Ireland.
Coleraine is situated at the lowest bridgeable point of the River Bann, where the river is 90 metres wide. The town square is called 'The Diamond' and is the location of the Town Hall. St. Patrick's Church of Ireland is situated nearby. The University of Ulster campus was built in the 1960s and has brought a theatrical space to the town in the form of the Riverside Theatre.
Coleraine has been designated as a major growth area in the Northern Ireland Development Strategy. Although the population of the town is only 25,000, Coleraine has a large catchment area. The town also has the advantage of being near some of the most extraordinary landscape in the whole of Europe. In 2002, Coleraine won the Best Kept Town and Ulster in Bloom awards. In 2003, it was selected to represent Northern Ireland in the prestigious Britain in Bloom competition.

Coleraine is the main town of the world famous Causeway Coast, which attracts over three million visitors per year, spending in excess of £47 million. The world famous Giant's Causeway is a twenty–five-minute bus ride away. The distillery village of Bushmills is well-served by buses from the town and there is a narrow-gauge steam train running in the summer from Bushmills to the Giant's Causeway. The train journey takes approximately fifteen minutes from the town to the Causeway. Also north of Coleraine is the scenic coastal town of Portstewart, with fine sandy beach and coastal walks. Portrush is part of the Borough.
North-west of Coleraine lies the small village of Castlerock, with a beach which is essentially a continuation of the beach at Portstewart, separated by the River Bann. Also nearby is the huge beach at Benone Strand and Mussenden Temple, built by Frederick Augustus Hervey, an 18th-century Anglican bishop atop a precipitate cliff and overlooking County Donegal in one direction and Scotland in another. The National Trust managed Downhill forest was part of the Bishop's Palace, and although the Palace itself is now a ruin the gardens are a wonderful place full of strange hidden lakes and gloriously tended flower gardens.

I am not acttuly interested in this centre that there's TK.Maxx and TK.Maxx has got no lift at all! its turned into a single shop floor without both floors G, 1 or other floors etc. but the centre is a bit boring cause they have only 2 floors and a basement but there's a usual sign that heads to the last lift at 1:20 it says Elevator to 1st floor how can the put the word elevator without saying lift on a English sign?? Irish vs Americans.

For the crowds who gathered at Sandringham to see the Royal Family attend church yesterday morning, there was one very important person missing – Prince George. Some shouted ‘where’s the baby’ as his beaming parents, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, arrived hand in hand for the traditional Christmas Day service at St Mary Magdalene Church. The answer? At home playing with the wrapping paper.
Kate, who wore a tartan Alexander McQueen coat, made the comment to wellwisher Cicely Howard, 75.
Miss Howard, from Great Yarmouth, said: ‘She told me he was having a lovely day but was more interested in the wrapping paper than the presents.’

The Queen talks of ‘happiness and hope’ brought by baby George in Christmas message that includes unseen footage of her great-grandson’s christening day And William told the crowd: ‘We’ve had a good morning with George and I can’t wait until next year when he’s bigger.’ The duke and duchess were among around 30 members of the royal family who celebrated Christmas on the Queen’s Norfolk estate – far more than in recent years. As they arrived at church they were accompanied by Prince Harry, sporting a trimmed version of the beard he grew during his expedition to the Antarctic earlier this month, as well as Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall.
Zara’s husband, Mike Tindall, walked alongside his brother-in-law, Peter Phillips. Despite his recent ill health, Prince Philip, 92, led his family on the brisk half-mile walk from Sandringham House to the church. He spent the summer recuperating after exploratory surgery on his abdomen.
During the speech, recorded at Buckingham Palace earlier this month, the Queen made it clear how much joy her first great-grandson had given her, even allowing unseen footage from his christening to be included in the broadcast. She spoke at length about how the birth of a baby helps people to think about the future with ‘renewed happiness and hope’.
Last month he stood in for his mother for the first time at the bi-annual heads of government meeting, which the Queen took the unusual step of referring to in her speech yesterday. Footage of the event was also shown. She spoke about how the ‘Commonwealth can offer us a fresh view of life’, adding: ‘My son Charles summed this up at the recent meeting in Sri Lanka. ‘He spoke of the Commonwealth’s “family ties” that are a source of encouragement to many.
She later spoke about George’s christening, as footage was shown of the royal family posing for official photographs to mark the occasion. The Duchess of Cambridge can be heard coaxing her baby son to look at celebrity portrait photographer Jason Bell, saying ‘Good boy, George.’ The Queen said: ‘As with all who are christened, George was baptised into a joyful faith of Christian duty and service. ‘After the christening, we gathered for the traditional photograph. It was a happy occasion, bringing together four generations.’
British Legion members from the South travel to Coleraine to meet Queen Elizabeth.
Representatives from some of the 10 branches of the Royal British Legion, south of the border, were among the guests at a function attended by Queen Elizabeth in Coleraine Co Derry today.
The Legion was set up by veterans after the end of World War One.
Today's function in Coleraine was a commemoration to mark the centenary of the start of that conflict in 1914.
Some of the British Legion members who travelled North for the event spoke to RTÉ's Northern Editor, Tommie Gorman.

Ballymoney is a small town and civil parish in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. It is currently served by Ballymoney Borough Council. The civil parish of Ballymoney is situated in the historic baronies of Dunluce Upper and Kilconway in County Antrim, and the barony of North East Liberties of Coleraine in County Londonderry.
Ballymoney has expanded in recent years and a lot of new houses have been built. This is primarily as a result of high house prices in the Coleraine/Portstewart/Portrush 'Triangle' areas shifting first-time buyers to the less expensive Ballymoney area. Ballymoney is located on the main road between Coleraine and Ballymena, with good road and rail connections to the main cities in Northern Ireland, Belfast and Derry.
The Ballymoney area has the highest life expectancy of any area in Northern Ireland, with the average male life expectancy at birth being 79.9 years and 84.8 years for females in years between 2010 and 2012. Conversely, it was revealed in 2013 that Ballymoney residents are more likely to die from heart disease than anywhere else in Northern Ireland. The town hosts the Ballymoney Drama Festival, the oldest drama festival in Ireland, which was founded in 1933. The town also hosts the Ballymoney Show, which is one of the oldest agricultural shows in Northern Ireland and was founded in 1902.
Ballymoney is one of the oldest towns in Ireland with many buildings of historic note in the town centre.
An old church tower dating from 1637 is the town's oldest surviving building.
Another striking feature is the town clock and Masonic hall, built in 1775 by the 6th Earl and 2nd Marquis of Antrim. The hall was used as a market house, courthouse, town hall and school.
The town hall was erected in 1866.
Ballymoney railway station opened on 4 December 1855, and was closed to goods traffic on 4 January 1965. The refurbished railway station was opened in May 1990. It was one terminus of the Ballycastle Railway, a narrow gauge railway which ran 17 miles connecting Ballycastle to Ballymoney, on the Belfast and Northern Counties Railway (BNCR), later Northern Counties Committee (NCC), main line to Derry, and closed in July 1950.

HM The Queen and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh attended the topping out ceremony for Leeds Arena, where they met the construction crew and apprentices before viewing musical and acrobatics performances.
Her Majesty and His Royal Highness then visited the City Varieties Music Hall and viewed a Good Old Days theatrical performance by City Varieties Youth Theatre Company before unveiling a plaque.

Londonderry: Army base bombers 'endangered lives'
Residents who live close to the scene of a bomb attack at an Army Reserve base have criticised those responsible.
Two bombs partially detonated but failed to explode outside Caw Camp Army Reserve centre in Londonderry on Sunday night.
They were discovered at about midday on Monday and residents in nearby houses spent almost 10 hours out of their homes while the devices were made safe.
Police said the bombers had endangered lives in the built-up residential area.
They said the bombs had the capacity to kill and described the attack as a reckless act.
'Endangered'
The alert ended on Monday night and the bombs were taken away for further examination.
The Army Reserve base backs onto houses in Rockport Park. Houses in Caw Park were also evacuated during the bomb disposal operation.
