Dimbulagala Raja Maha Vihara is situated 16 kilometres south east of the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka. The Dimbulagala range houses a number of caves cut into the rock with Brahmi inscriptions over their drip ledges. This forest hermitage of medieval times and holy abode since time immemorial, home to some of the most valued fragments of early frescoes was called the Gunners Quoin by the British. This Buddhist monastery which was abandoned after the times of the Kingdom of Polonnaruwa was restored to the present status in the 1950s due to the efforts of Kithalagama Sri Seelalankara Thera, who was the chief incumbent of the Vihara until his death in 1995

Dimbulagala is a famous attraction close to Pollonnaruwa. It is also known as Gunners Rock during the British colonial period. Dimbulagala Temple is located on top of Dimbulagala Rock. Dimbulagala chief incumbent the Ven. Mathara Sri Seelalankara Thero who had served the people of Dimbulagala and the pioneer in developing Dimbulagala Temple.

The Chief Incumbent of the Dimbulagala Forest Hermitage (Aranya Senasana), Venerable Maldeniye Jinalankara Thero has passed away at the age of 78.
දිඹුලාගල ආරණ්‍ය සේනාසනාධිපති උතුරු නැගෙනහිර තමන්කඩුව දෙපලාතේ ප්‍රධාන සංඝනායක මල්දෙණියේ ජිනලංකාර නාහිමිපානන් වහන්සේ අපවත්වී තිබේ.

දිඹුලාගල මිල්ලාන ඇතුළු ගම්මාන කිහිපයක ජනතාවට වන අලි ගැටළුවෙන් පීඩා
අලි මිනිස් ගැටුමට තවමත් නිසි විසඳුමක් නැහැ.මේ ගැටුමට මැදිවෙලා වන අලි වගේම මිනිසුන් දවසින් දවස මියයනවා. දිඹුලාගල මිල්ලාන සහ අනුරාධපුර, තලාව ගම්මාන දෙකක ජනතාව විසඳුමක් නොමැති වන අලි ගැටළුවෙන් පීඩා විඳින්නේ වසර ගණනාවක ඉඳන්. දිඹුලාගල මිල්ලාන ඇතුළු ගම්මාන කිහිපයක ජනතාව වන අලි ගැටළුවෙන් පීඩා විඳින්නේ කලක සිටයි. දිඹුලාගල රක්ෂිතයේ සිට ගම් වදින වන අලි සිය නිවාස මෙන්ම වගාබිම් විනාශ කර දමන බවයි ගම්වාසීන් පෙන්වා දෙන්නේ. පසුගිය දින තුන තුළ පමණක් එලෙස ගම්වැදුණු වන අලි ප‍්‍රදේශයේ නිවාස 16 කට දැඩි හානි සිදුකර තිබුණා.
එබැවින් අලි වැටක් ඉදිකර දෙන ලෙස ගම්වාසීන් බලධාරින්ගෙන් ඉල්ලා සිටිනවා. මේ අතර අනුරාධපුර, තලාව, බුරුගම ඇතුළු ගම්මාන කිහිපයක ජනතාව ද විසඳුමක් නොමැති මෙම වන අලි ගැටලූවෙන් පීඩා විඳිනවා. රාත‍්‍රී කාලයේ ගම් වදින වන අලි ඔවුන්ගේ නිවාස මෙන්ම බවභෝග විනාශ කර ඇත්තේ මෙලෙසින්.
මෙම ගැටළුවට කඩිනමින් ස්ථිර විසඳුමක් ලබාදෙන ලෙස ඔවුන් බලධාරින්ගෙන් ඉල්ලා සිටිනවා. මේ අතර මෙම වසරේ ගතවුණු මුල් මාස පහ තුළ අනුරාධපුර හා වයඹ වනජීවි කලාපයන් තුළ පමණක් අහිමිවූ වන අලින්ගේ ජීවිත සංඛ්‍යාව 25 ක්.තිරප්පනේ, නල්ලමුදාව වැවට පෙරේදා රාත‍්‍රියේ පැමිණි ඇතින්නකට කිසියම් පුද්ගලයෙකු විසින් වෙඩි තබා ඝාතනය කර තිබුණා.පසුව අනාවරණය වූයේ වල් ඌරන් දඩයම් කිරීමට ගිය දඩයක්කරුවන් පිරිසක් විසින් මේ වෙඩි තැබීම සිදුකර ඇති බවයි.
