4K City Walks: Fort Collins, Colorado Walking Tour - Virtual Walk Treadmill Scenery City guide
The walking video 4K City Walks: Fort Collins, Colorado Walking Tour - Virtual Walk Treadmill Scenery City guide explores the downtown area of Fort Collins, CO. The town surprised me a bit. I’d stayed at a hotel out by the highway but didn’t remember coming into the town center. The old buildings and small town feel really charmed me. I walked around the pedestrian area, past bars, coffee shops, and restaurants, and made my way out to the New Belgium Brewery, famous for its pioneering of micro brews. I crossed the Cache de la Poudre River on a fine fall afternoon before heading back through downtown and into a residential area with lovely old homes. I’d hoped to have a chance to tour around the University but I’ll have to save that for next time. Let me know our personal connections to Ft Collins in the comments below.
This Fort Collins, CO walking tour video was filmed on a DJI Osmo Pocket.

Wikipedia:
Fort Collins is a municipality in northern Colorado, which serves as the seat of Larimer County. Situated on the Cache La Poudre River along the Colorado Front Range, Fort Collins is located 56 mi (90 km) north of the Colorado State Capitol in Denver. With a 2018 estimated population of 167,830, it is the fourth most populous city in Colorado after Denver, Colorado Springs, and Aurora. Fort Collins is a midsize college city, home to Colorado State University and Front Range Community College's Larimer campus.
Fort Collins was founded as a military outpost of the United States Army in 1864. It succeeded a previous encampment, known as Camp Collins, on the Cache La Poudre River, near what is known today as Laporte. Camp Collins was erected during the Indian wars of the mid-1860s to protect the Overland mail route that had been recently relocated through the region. Travelers crossing the county on the Overland Trail would camp there, but a flood destroyed the camp in June 1864. Afterward, the commander of the fort wrote to the commandant of Fort Laramie in southeast Wyoming, Colonel William O. Collins, suggesting that a site several miles farther down the river would make a good location for the fort. The post was manned originally by two companies of the 11th Ohio Volunteer Cavalry and never had walls.
Settlers began arriving in the vicinity of the fort nearly immediately. The fort was decommissioned in 1867. The original fort site is now adjacent to the present historic Old Town portion of the city. The first school and church opened in 1866, and the town was platted in 1867. The civilian population of Fort Collins, led by local businessman Joseph Mason, led an effort to relocate the county seat to Fort Collins from LaPorte, and they were successful in 1868.
The city's first population boom came in 1872, with the establishment of an agricultural colony. Hundreds of settlers arrived, developing lots just south of the original Old Town. Tension between new settlers and earlier inhabitants led to political divisions in the new town, which was incorporated in 1873. Although the Colorado Agricultural College was founded in 1870, the first classes were held in 1879.

Therapy in Fort Collins, Colorado
Does therapy work? Psychotherapy works. We have the science and research to back that claim. Here's some of the research, by the numbers, in one well-respected Consumer Reports study: Of the 786 people who were feeling fairly poor at the outset of their therapy, 92% were feeling very good, good, or at least so-so by the time of the survey. Of the 426 people who were feeling very poor when they began therapy, 87% were feeling very good, good, or at least so-so by the time of the survey.
Science even shows that psychotherapy works better in the long-term and is more enduring than medication. In fact, compared to meds, not only is it more cost-effective, but psychotherapy leads to fewer relapses of anxiety and depression than medication use alone—so much so that Norwegian Health Authorities have issued new guidelines concerning treatment of mild to moderate depression and anxiety, stating that psychological interventions, not medications, should be applied first.
How do I know if I need therapy? Just talking to someone who is not a friend or relative can make the world of difference. If you'd like to develop empowering ways of coping, if you're ready to live the life that you deserve, then you're ready for therapy.
We work in two beautiful old town homes that have been renovated into professional office buildings. Inside, you'll find a welcoming atmosphere, a peaceful office environment, and old town charm in its many forms. We like to think of the Heart-Centered Counseling offices as a sort of tranquil haven that welcomes you.
Specifically, we're located in the heart of Old Town at (1) 109 W Olive St, Fort Collins, Colorado 80524 and (2) 420 S Howes St, Fort Collins, Colorado 80521. We are very easy to find. Our Olive Street building is at the corner of College and Olive (just 2 blocks north of major intersection of College and Mulberry). Our Howes street building is on the corner of Mulberry and Howes (just 2 blocks West of the corner of College and Mulberry).
Fort Collins is a Home Rule Municipality in and the county seat of Larimer County, Colorado, United States. With a 2012 estimated population of 148,612, it is the fourth most populous city in Colorado after Aurora, Colorado Springs and Denver. The city provides school year residences for its large college-age population; there is a local music circuit which is influenced by its college town atmosphere and is home to a number of well known microbreweries. Bike to Work Day in Fort Collins Colorado
On June 25th 2014 I participated in Bike to Work Day in Fort Collins Colorado. There were lots of cyclists and several stations and booths setup with food and information about local businesses. Tour de Fat (Fort Collins) - In A Colorado Minute (Week 226)
--- ---
Tour de Fat is a traveling celebration of beer, bikes and bemusement organized by the employee-owned Fort Collins brewery New Belgium and taking place in almost a dozen cities around the USA throughout the summer (next stops are in Denver, San Diego and Tempe).
This week (on August 30, 2014), Tour de Fat Fort Collins happened - bringing together 25,000 people to ride their bikes in the parade, wear colorful costumes, drink beer, watch bands and other performers... and tell us how cute our dog Whiskey is (sorry, couldn't help it... she really is cute).
According to a New Belgium blog post, $80,000 were raised for local biking nonprofits. We tried to do our part by drinking our fair share of Ranger, Fat Tire, Shift and the new Tour de Fall beers.
The video I put together is not a comprehensive overview of all that went on that day. It skips all the bands on three stages, all the nice people I met and fun conversations we had and that crazy delicious sandwich from the Jax stand (and the disappointment that the Moe's stand was already out of food). But this should give you an idea what a fun, sunny, colorful and beer-induced event this was.
The bonus of attending the Tour de Fat in Fort Collins for us was to jump in the Poudre River for a refreshing dip and then ride home on the fantastic bike trails along rivers and creeks with the view of the Rocky Mountain Foothills and a random Kingfisher just hanging out. Quite different than making your way home from the Atlantic Antic in Brooklyn...
The upbeat song is the instrumental version of Honey Trap by Jason Matherne.
