Tīrau, corrugated-iron capital - Roadside Stories
A giant dog and sheep tower over the main street of Tīrau, just two of a series of sculptures and buildings made from corrugated iron -- a common building material in New Zealand. The quirky sculptures were designed and erected by Steven Clothier of Corrugated Creations as part of an effort to revitalise the town from the late 1980s.

Tirau - Jump On John
The township of Tirau have decided to make lots of things out of corrugated iron as their town 'thing'. So there are lots of signs for all the businesses made out of this. Also at the visitors centre they have some whole buildings clad in sculpted corrugated iron. One is a sheepdog and then their are two sheep. It is pretty cool.
We had a heck of a time finding a good spot to jump off that would have the corrugated iron sculptures in the shot. In the end we settled on this rubbish bin which was pretty solid because it is made out of steel.
Thanks to Mark Stinson for being the jumper and Michael Stinson for working the camera.
