Whale watching in New England
This is a video of the highlights of our whale and dolphin watching trip off the coast of New England. We were privileged to see the grace and majesty of a 40 ton humpback whale with her calf and 5 different 60 ton fin whales. We were also very lucky to be joined by a large pod of atlantic white sided dolphins which added sheer enjoyment and fun to the whole trip! Thanks to Pete, Jonathan and Melanie from Granite State Whale Watching (Rye NH) for this wonderful experience.

Whale Watching off the coast of New Hampshire
An absolutely beautiful day to watch whales off of the coast of New Hampshire. We were so lucky to be aboard the Granite State Whale watch boat on a super Saturday in July 2012. The Sky was totally blue. The Weather Fair. The Sea Life was dancing upon the water. A Glorious Day was had by all!

Dead Whale Washes Ashore in Rye NH, 6/2016
An dead humpback whale washed onto rocks near Rye State Park, Rye Beach, New Hampshire, June 27, 2016.
The 45-foot whale was identified as an 18-year-old, 30-ton female named Snow Plow. Local scientists reported that she died decades before she should've and so (at the time of this publishing) their first priority was figuring out what killed her.
With the help of heavy equipment, marine biologists led a days-long necopsy at the scene and sample tissue and organs were removed for analysis. Parts of the skeleton were preserved but the remaining 30-tons of blubber and tissue were trucked away to landfills. These were considered hazardous waste, contaminated with mercury traces found in the ocean water.
This was the first time in 16 years, a whale has washed ashore in New Hampshire.
