Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) - ???????? SEOUL WALK
Just the other day, I walked around the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP), recently opened on March 21st to the public, located at Dongdaemun History & Culture Station (Exit 1).
In this video, I include footage from around dusk as well as footage during night time.
This amazing, modern landmark is built on the former sight of the Dongdaemun Stadium, a stadium built in the 1920's by the Japanese during the Japanese occupation of Korea.
In the video, I state that Seoul won a World Design Capitol designation in 2011... the correct year is actually 2010.
At this location, there are several ancient Korean relic sites as well as a partially restored area of the old Seoul fortress wall. These ancient sites were buried by the Japanese to make way for the sports stadium.
Keep watching as dusk falls and I enter night time with the entire plaza being lit up by all types of cool, colorful and animated LED lights.
The DDP is set to become a future hot spot for fashion. Seoul is aiming to have this plaza become the fashion capitol of Asia in the future.

Hi guys! In this video I'll give you a personal tour of Dongdaemun Design Plaza (동대문디자인플라자) from the subway station (Dongdaemun History & Culture Park) to the LED Rose garden. What to do at DDP Seoul? This is where you'll find Hera Seoul Fashion Week, the biggest design market in Seoul, and exhibition after exhibition. Top off the evening enjoying the 25,000 LED flowers. So let's go inside the building, and explore everything from the Design Lab to the Museum.
This famous building was designed by the late Iraqi British architect Zaha Hadid and is really a landmark building in Seoul which put the city on the map as a design city.

Since its foundation in 2014, DDP has staged diverse cultural events including exhibitions, fashion shows, product launch shows, forums, conferences and various cultural events.

Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) is the newest and most iconic landmark of the Korean design industry. Located at the center of the Dongdaemun area, the DDP will serve as a key venue for design-related shows and conferences, exhibitions, and other events and gatherings.
Designed by world renowned architect, Zaha Hadid, DDP is the world’s largest atypical architecture. The DDP is comprised of five halls: Art Hall, Museum, Design Lab, Design Market, and Dongdaemun History and Culture Park. The Art Hall is the primary launch pad for the Korean creative industry. The hall is a key venue for conventions, trade shows, exhibitions, fashion shows, concerts and performances. The Museum Hall brings together Korean design and global trends. The Museum Hall is comprised of five sections: Design Playground, Design Dulle-gil(trail), Design Museum, Design Exhibition Hall, and the Design Rest Area. The Design Lab serves as an incubator for rising Korean and international creative product designers. The Design Market is a multipurpose space that combines culture, experiences and shopping. This hall is open 24 hours a day to provide added convenience to visitors of Dongdaemun Market, the town that never sleeps.
The Dongdaemun History & Culture Park is the newest park in downtown Seoul. The park gives a glimpse of how the area was once used as a military training ground during the Joseon dynasty. The park seamlessly extends onto the rooftop of DDP, making it a truly unique park in Korea.
