Leominster: Hiking the Doyle Estate/Community Park

My friend and I decided to hike the trails of the former Doyle Estate, sandwiched between Merriam Avenue, Lindell Avenue, and Route 2, Leominster, Massachusetts.
While this estate looks small on the road, it's surprisingly big, especially in a part of the city, surrounded by (sub)urban life.
We also poke fun at a sign we read before recording, that there are dangerous elements within, and ran with it.

The friend and I hike the Red Trail (on the map, it was red), in the Doyle Conservation Center (the Estate), Leominster, Massachusetts.

Leominster: Hiking Notown, to Mount Elam Road (Via Monoosnoc Trail)

We are going on an adventure, hiking through Notown, a long-dead farming community that failed to prosper in the 1830s, in between Leominster, Fitchburg, Westminster, and Princeton (Massachusetts). To get there, we utilize parts of the Monoosnoc Trail System (Blue dots).
The goal was to find old foundations of the former buildings, but didn't go too well in that department. We did see one of them on video (a second after shooting this). Best to try in the late fall to early spring, when the vegetation isn't covering everything.
Still was a fun adventure for my friend, and myself.
We also talk about random stuff, and the edited parts are left at that.
Brookley 5k On the Runway - Doyle Park
For those of you who may not remember, the beneficiary of last year’s Brookley 5K On The Runway was Doyle Park, a 24-acre community park owned by the City of Mobile and located in the Brookley/Dauphin Island Parkway neighborhood adjacent to Mobile’s Aeroplex at Brookley. Doyle Park had fallen into disrepair and offered patrons a few picnic tables, a rusted bent playground, and unusable baseball/softball fields.
A lot has changed over the last 6 months. Your participation, along with the generosity of our race sponsors, several grants and many donations from various companies and individuals, has made a significant impact on the park renovations and will soon be making a difference in the community, the lives of children and families who live in the area; in fact, the Friends of Doyle Park recently purchased all of the playground equipment that children will enjoy for years to come. Again, thank you!
But our work is not complete and Doyle Park will again be the reason we run! Come join us for a great run for a great cause.
Lancaster, MA: Dover Impulse Hydraulic Elevator @ Lancaster Public Library
This is the Dover Impulse Hydraulic Elevator, at the Lancaster Public Library, Lancaster, Massachusetts.
This does not stand out, as I passed it initially, until I discovered, and didn't record, the MPE next to it.
Upon opening at the Lower Level, I realized this is the same one KONEelevatorman111 recorded, but unlike him, I had no issues with being at, or IN, the Lower Level.
This one actually rides well. Not perfect, but very good.

Leominster: Monsterland
A walk along a stretch of Old Mill Road, which once was a place known as Monsterland.
In the 40's or 50's, a guy stalls out near the railroad bridge, and saw a monster come out of the woods, and started to violently shake his car, and fled for his life. This guy was drunk at the time, but his story, and many others about weird noises in this area, started the Monsterland craze.
In the late 80's, a developer created Legate Hill Estates, which was a 100 home development, which straddles the railroad tracks, and more recently, a condo complex was built on the other side. Some say that WAL*MART is in Monsterland as well, others say that it's not far enough into the woods like the bridge, to be part of it.
Near the end, we examine the graffiti in the small tunnel, and walk the last few hundred feet of what used to be a thrilling place.

Leominster: Hiking the Lincoln Woods Wildlife Sanctuary

I have not been in this small wooded area for more than 35 years, so it's about time we revisit, and this time, hike the entire thing. It can take about 45 minutes if you go at a leisurely pace, but I went faster.
As usual, and many can tell you this, maiden voyages always go wrong, from mixing up landmarks, like the Lassie League fields that this borders (thought Pop Warner Football, as well as the eye could see far away), to missing a turn or two, as a trail changes direction without real warning, and one side of the system isn't marked well enough (too barren, can't change the barren part).
Overall, this was a fun little hike. with a couple adjustments needed, like more dots on the barren spots, so as not to go off the trail. There's a couple intersections that got me confused, thinking I repeated something I didn't, but that's just me and my maiden voyage follies.
The sanctuary is on the corner of Union and Tisdale Streets, just about 100 feet or so past the intersection on the left, coming from downtown.

Leominster: Hiking From Mt. Elam Road, to Crow Hills (Westminster, MA)
Due to the very late start of nice weather, the hiking videos started late, as this was recorded June 13, 2015.
We hike from Mt. Elam Road (Notown Reservoir), and do some overlap of a trail, ultimately hitting new territory on our way to Crow Hills in Westminster, next town over.
Wasn't much to see, but it was a great hike.
There is an audio edit, due to a bad joke. We try to keep it proper, but doesn't always happen. One other is borderline, but kept it in.
Either I forgot about holding the camera, or the image stabilization failed at one point, as the floating block went everywhere. It's a short moment, as well as a black dot earlier on.
This is also the 1st hiking video I've uploaded at full 60fps.

Worcester's Camp Kinneywood
WORCESTER, MA — It has been another summer chock-full of outdoor activities at Camp Kinneywood, the 80-acre Maine-like property of Girls Inc., off Olean Street. Young ladies from Worcester and beyond have been enjoying a mix of swimming, boating and hiking. It's our little treasure, hidden away, said counselor Meaghan McCarthy. This is a drone shot of First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church of Fitchburg, Massachusetts taken September 2015 by Dave Svens of Fitchburg Access Television. You can see the long, elliptical Upper Common park that is the commanding view of the church building. The Upper Common land owned by First Parish was sold to the city in 1882 so long as it remain a public park. The church was built in 1837; the third meeting house of the congregation founded in 1768.

We come back during the Holiday Stroll Festival, and revisit the Dover Impulse Hydraulic Elevator in City Hall (Leominster, Massachusetts).
We enter at the parking lot, but because the elevator was blocked, we pick it up in the Basement level.
It was fairly busy, as I played the role of Elevator Operator for a few extra trips.
It ends at the Gangplank entrance, which was unusually dark.
