Jewel of Lockhart - On The Square in Lockhart TX
April 18th 2019
I took a three day writing retreat with my husband in Lockhart, TX. We rented a wonderful AirBNB in the country, ate BBQ and visited the library, which happens to be the oldest operating library in the state of Texas. I love that it’s so close to home. I got myself a library card too which only cost 10 dollars for out of city residents. The old building was so beautiful and now connects to a just as old Masons building that was donated. For more information about the library’s history visit this awesome travel and historian blogger here:

Some advice on that. Read everything the host has on there carefully. Make sure you filter what your wants and needs are during your search. A lot of people don’t want a shared space and rent a room in a home with people in it instead of choosing a place that is the entire space to themselves, it’s a common mistake. Read EVERYTHING including the house rules, amenities and reviews. Ask questions if you are unsure and to make things clear.
Remember to clean up after yourself because they leave reviews in exchange as well.

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone.
I cannot teach anybody anything, I can only make them think.
