Du Fu's Thatched Cottage is an idyllic 24-acre (97,000 m2) park and museum in honour of the Tang Dynasty poet Du Fu at the western outskirts of Chengdu, adjacent to the Huanhua Xi, (Flower Rinsing Creek). The Dufu Thatched Cottage is a must-see attraction in Chengdu - it was the home of one of China's most famous classical poets: Dufu. It is a simple cottage without much in and of itself, but people come here to pay their respects to his work and his genius, because his work is greatly respected here in China, and really, all over the world to those who know anything of Asian literature. There is a cool little park, a couple of small lakes, a little river, and a lot of greenery! It's a great place to come hang out and see what people are getting up to here :)

Du Fu was a prominent Chinese poet of the Tang dynasty and has been called the Poet-Sage by Chinese critics. In 759 Du Fu moved to Chengdu, built a thatched hut near the Flower Rinsing Creek and lived there for four years. The thatched hut period was the peak of Du Fu's creativity, during which he wrote two hundred and forty poems, among them My Thatched Hut was torn apart by Autumn Wind and The Prime Minister of Shu.

Thatched Cottage of Du Fu, Chengdu
Du Fu is a famous poet of the Tang Dynasty. Due to the outbreak of An-Shi Rebellion, he fled from Chang'an to Chengdu together with his families in December, 759AD. In March of 769 AD, he built up a thatched cottage at the bank of Huanhua Stream with the help of his friends. Upon completion, he named it Chengdu Thatched Cottage. There he lived nearly four years and composed about 300 poems.
Since the thatched cottage is located near the Huanhua Stream, it is also called Huanhua Thatched Cottage.
