সুন্দরবন হলো বঙ্গোপসাগর উপকূলবর্তী অঞ্চলে অবস্থিত একটি প্রশস্ত বনভূমি যা বিশ্বের প্রাকৃতিক বিস্ময়াবলীর অন্যতম। বাংলাদেশের খুলনা, সাতক্ষীরা, বাগেরহাট, পটুয়াখালি ও বরগুনা জেলা জুড়ে বিস্তৃত। সমুদ্র উপকূলবর্তী নোনা পরিবেশের সবচেয়ে বড় ম্যানগ্রোভ বন হিসেবে সুন্দরবন বিশ্বের সর্ববৃহৎ অখণ্ড বনভূমি। ১০,০০০ বর্গ কিলোমিটার জুড়ে গড়ে ওঠা সুন্দরবনের ৬,০১৭ বর্গ কিলোমিটার রয়েছে বাংলাদেশে। সুন্দরবন ১৯৯৭ খ্রিস্টাব্দে ইউনেস্কো বিশ্ব ঐতিহ্যবাহী স্থান হিসেবে স্বীকৃতি লাভ করে।। মোট বনভূমির ৩১.১ শতাংশ, অর্থাৎ ১,৮৭৪ বর্গকিলোমিটার জুড়ে রয়েছে নদীনালা, খাঁড়ি, বিল মিলিয়ে জলাকীর্ণ অঞ্চল। বনভূমিটি, স্বনামে বিখ্যাত রয়েল বেঙ্গল টাইগারছাড়াও নানান ধরণের পাখি, চিত্রা হরিণ, কুমির ও সাপসহ অসংখ্য প্রজাতির প্রাণীর আবাসস্থল হিসেবে পরিচিত।

Sundarban is the biggest mangrove forest in the world. Sundarban is in South West part of Bangladesh, in the district of greater Khulna.
The Sundarban Reserved Forest, occupying an area of around 6,017 square kilometres or 600,000 hectares, represents 51 percent of the total reserved forest area of Bangladesh and as such forms a rich and diverse ecosystem with potential for sustainable natural resource management.
The main tourist point is Hiron Point (Nilkamal) for watching tiger, deer, monkey, crocodiles, birds and natural beauty. Katka is for watching deer, tiger, crocodiles, varieties of birds and monkey. Morning and evening symphony of wild fowls. Vast expanse of grassy meadows running from Katka to Kachikhali (Tiger Point) provide opportunities for wild tracking. Tin Kona Island for tiger and deer. Dublar Char (Island) for fishermen. It is a beautiful island where herds of spotted deer are often seen to graze. Here land and water meet in many novel fashions, Wildlife presents many a spectacle. No wonder, you may come across a Royal Bengal Tiger swimming across the streams or the crocodiles basking on the river banks. With the approach of the evening herds of deer make for the darkling glades where boisterous monkeys shower Keora leaves from above for sumptuous meal for the former. For the botanist, the love of nature, the poet and the painter this land provides a variety of wonder for which they all crave.

বাংলাদেশে নতুন একটি দ্বীপের সন্ধান পাওয়া গেছে। যদিও এটি আজকের ঘটনা নয়। বহু দিন আগের ঘটনা। তবে নতুন করে এই দ্বীপটি নিয়ে বেশ চাঞ্চল্য সৃষ্টি হয়েছে। ৭.৮৪ বর্গ কিলোমিটার আয়তন বিশিষ্ট নতুন এই দ্বীপটি সমুদ্রপৃষ্ঠ হতে প্রায় ২ মিটার উচ্চতায় অবস্থিত। খুলনার মংলা উপজেলার দুবলার চর হতে ১০ কিলোমিটার দক্ষিণে বঙ্গোপসাগরে অবস্থিত এই দ্বীপটি।
ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের উপাচার্যের কার্যালয়ে এক সংবাদ সম্মেলনে বঙ্গবন্ধু দ্বীপের গবেষক অধ্যাপক মো. শহীদুল ইসলাম বলেন, ‘এই দ্বীপটি প্রথম আবিষ্কৃত হয় ১৯৯২ সালে। মৎস্য শিকারি মালেক ফরাজীসহ দুইজন জেলে প্রথম এই দ্বীপে নামেন। বঙ্গবন্ধুর একনিষ্ঠ ভক্ত হওয়ায় তিনি সেই সময় ‘বঙ্গবন্ধু দ্বীপ’ নামে একটি সাইনবোর্ড লাগিয়ে দেন। এরপর দীর্ঘদিন এই দ্বীপটি নিয়ে আর কোনো খবর ছিল না।’
অধ্যাপক শহীদুল ইসলাম বলেন, ‘সম্প্রতি ফেসবুকে একটি পোস্ট দেখে দ্বীপটি গবেষণার সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়া হয়। দুইজন সহকর্মীসহ ২৯ সদস্যের একটি দল নিয়ে গত ১১ ফেব্রুয়ারি ওই দ্বীপের উদ্দেশে আমরা রওনা হই। দ্বীপটি মংলা বন্দর হতে অনেকটাই দূরে হওয়ার কারণে সেখানে আমাদের পৌঁছাতে ৩ দিন সময় লেগে যায়। দ্বীপটি নিয়ে দীর্ঘ ১৬ দিন গবেষণা করার পর আমরা ঢাকায় ফিরে আসি।’
গবেষণার ফলাফল সম্পর্কে এই গবেষক আরও জানান, ‘গত ২৫ বছরে আবিষ্কৃত এই দ্বীপের পরিধি অনেকটাই বিস্তৃত হয়েছে। বর্তমানে দ্বীপের আয়তন ৭.৮৪ কিলোমিটার, যা সমুদ্রপৃষ্ঠ হতে দুই মিটার উচ্চতায় অবস্থিত। এই দ্বীপে সর্বমোট ৯ কিলোমিটার লম্বা সাগর সৈকত রয়েছে। দ্বীপটিতে আমরা চোরাবালির কোনো চিহ্ন পাইনি। অন্যান্য সাগর সৈকতের তুলনায় এই সৈকতের পানি এতোটাই স্বচ্ছ যে এখানে সহজেই ভয়হীনভাবে সাঁতার কাটা সম্ভব।’
বঙ্গবন্ধু দ্বীপের এই গবেষক আরও বলেন, ‘এই দ্বীপের প্রধান আকর্ষণ হলো লাল কাঁকড়া। দূর হতে দেখে মনে হবে যেনো লাল রংয়ের সৈকত। এই সৈকতে আমরা বিশাল জঙ্গলেরও সন্ধান পেয়েছি। সেখানে আমরা গবেষণা করে অবশ্য কোনো সরীসৃপ পায়নি। সরীসৃপ বাদে আমরা সব মিলিয়ে প্রায় ৬০ হতে ৭০টি জীববৈচিত্রের সন্ধান পেয়েছি। তবে আমাদের গবেষণা স্বল্প পরিসর হওয়ায় পুরো জঙ্গলে পুঙ্খানুপুঙ্খানুভাবে গবেষণা করা সম্ভব হয়নি আমাদের পক্ষে। আমরা যতোটুকু অনুসন্ধান করেছি তাতে বাঘের কোনো চিহ্ন না পেলেও হরিণের কিছু চিহ্ন আমরা পেয়েছি।’
সংবাদ মাধ্যমকে দেওয়া এক প্রতিক্রিয়ায় অধ্যাপক শহীদুল ইসলাম আরও জানান, ‘দ্বীপের গবেষণা বিষয়ে সব কাগজপত্র আমরা সরকারের নিকট দাখিল করবো। কারণ আমরা মনে করি অন্যান্য সাগর সৈকতের তুলনায় এই সৈকতের সৌন্দর্য কোনো অংশেই কম নয়। এই দ্বীপের আশপাশে অন্তত ২০ কিলোমিটার পর্যন্ত কোনো মানববসতি নেই। যে কারণে এই দ্বীপটি অনেকটাই সুনসান। এজন্য সরকারি পর্যায়ে এই দ্বীপটির আন্তর্জাতিক প্রচারণাও প্রয়োজন। এমনকী দেশের মানুষও জানে না যে এই দেশে এতো সুন্দর একটি দ্বীপ রয়েছে।’
ওই অনুষ্ঠানের প্রধান অতিথি ছিলেন ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের উপাচার্য আ আ ম স আরেফিন সিদ্দিক। তিনি বলেন, ‘দেশের মধ্যে এতো সুন্দর দ্বীপ রয়েছে, তা আমার কাছেও অজানা ছিল। বেশ কয়েকদিন আগে গবেষকদের সঙ্গে বৈঠকে আমি এই দ্বীপের কথা প্রথম জানতে পারি। এই দ্বীপে পর্যটক বাড়াতে হলে সরকারি পর্যায়ে প্রচার প্রচারণার প্রয়োজন। তাহলেই সেখানে পর্যটক আসবে।’

Sundarban Bangladesh || The land of Royal Bengal Tiger
Bangladesh is a peaceful country. It has the most beautiful attractive places. Sundarban is one of them. It's the largest mangrove forest in the world. The forest are full of flora and fauna.
The Royal Bengal Tiger is the main dominant animal.
The Sundarbans
The Sundarbans mangrove forest, one of the largest such forests in the world (140,000 ha), lies on the delta of the Ganges, Brahmaputra and Meghna rivers on the Bay of Bengal. It is adjacent to the border of India’s Sundarbans World Heritage site inscribed in 1987. The site is intersected by a complex network of tidal waterways, mudflats and small islands of salt-tolerant mangrove forests, and presents an excellent example of ongoing ecological processes. The area is known for its wide range of fauna, including 260 bird species, the Bengal tiger and other threatened species such as the estuarine crocodile and the Indian python.

We heard the most awaited Island called Bangabandhu char. Many people want to join with us but we select only some. It was a spectacular experience for us. We explore the island and have wonderful time but when we come back and enter to the Dublar char , we can not do so for two hours because of low water level then water level increase and we go.
We are enjoying a lot,if anything went wrong, forgive us for the mistake.
So my wonderful friends, Let's go Dublar char (Sundarban) and keep watching as we wanted to see all of u the beauty of the way of Dublar char.
Sundarban is an exception beauty of Bangladesh, we don't know that how much we justify the view but we try our level best.
The main thing is that we know the fear and at the same time the speechless bloom blows our mind.
