Grainne Mulvey Plurabelle - Dublin City Gallery The Hugh Lane - Sundays at noon concert series
Grainne Mulvey Plurabelle - Dublin City Gallery The Hugh Lane - Sundays at noon concert series 2014.
The unexpected always happens, Especially to me. said George Bernard Shaw. In Ireland, the unexpected occurs always for good reasons.
Rushing to Visit the Dublin City Gallery The Hugh Lane Gallery in Dublin 1 on Saturday with a friend of mine 10 minutes before the closing time, we discovered that the following day we could attend the Sundays at noon concert series and its Project Evolution presented by the Association of Irish Composers. Musicians Susan Doyle (flute), Paul Roe (clarinet) and Ryan Malloy (Piano) and Adrian Mantu (Violoncello)
This is a part of the concert played on Sunday, January 12th 2014 by Paul Roe (clarinet) and Ryan Malloy (Piano) .
Grainne Mulvey (B.A., M.A. PHD -University of York)) has written this piece of music for St. Patrick's day.
Grainne Mulvey has pictured the opening of this concert as followed:
The opening consists of a deconstructed jig in retrograde form based on an exploration of the timbers of both instruments (clarinet - Paul roe and piano - Ryan Malloy), distinguish the tunes by octave displacement and disjointed rythms. The sections culminate in a cadenza passage for piano, which evolves into a Klezmer-style approach, slowing and ten speeding up with the final St Patrick's Day jig bringing the piece to a close.
The titlePlurabelle is a dedication to James Joyce's novel the Finnegans Wake, where Anna Livia Plurabelle appears in chapter 8 of Book 1.
The 'Anna Livia Plurabelle' chapter of Finnegans Wake (pp. 196-216) is one of the best known and most popular in the book, and was almost certainly Joyce's favourite.

Musicians and Lovers exhibition by Frank O Dea. Sol Art Gallery Dawson St Dublin . 21- 27 Oct 2016
Dublin based artist, Frank O'Dea presents a new collection of his colourful paintings in his exhibition at The Athena Room @ Sol Art in October.
'MUSICIANS AND LOVERS' offers an array of subjects in both ordinary and exotic locations. His choice of bright, vibrant colours and textures has lent itself to his work in recent years. The musicians are observed, usually sporting a colourful hat, either blatantly or discreetly observing an attractive female or playing their guitar in a cafe or bar. Frank's unique and recognisable style brings these subjects to life on the canvas.
O'Dea was born and raised in Dublin, where he still resides and works. He has been the owner and artist-in-residence at Balla Bán Gallery, Westbury Mall in Dublin city centre since 2010. He has had solo exhibitions at the Crow Gallery, Ranelagh Arts Centre and Gallery 27. His artwork can be found in both private and commercial collections worldwide.
