Hiking Dublin Mountains Way : Travel Vlog #3
This past Saturday a couple of friends and I conquered a small part of the Dublin Mountains Way. We hiked from Tallaght all the way to St. Anne's Grave Yard, and from there we stopped following the trail and just walked straight back to the town. My calves are still sore, but the views were worth it!

★ CAMPING // ACCOMMODATION ★
In general, because of the trails proximity to the city, there we don’t have any camp spots to recommend. If you do camp along this trail, make sure to follow the Leave No Trace Principles, and ask landowners for permission.
Dublin city itself offers an unlimited amount of accommodation, if you’re willing to travel back into the city from your mid point of the trail.
As of yet I haven’t found any accommodation that is both right on the trail, and falls somewhere in the middle. Near Glencullen there is:
★ PUBLIC TRANSPORT ★
To Shankill there are multiple routes, including the buses 145 and 155, as well as the Dart trainline.
To Tallaght there are also numerous transport options, including the red line of the Luas, and buses 27, 77a, 54a, and many more.
To the Scalp there is the 44 bus, and to Glencullen there is the 44b.
Also, in general we find getthere.ie to be a very useful website for finding routes if you have a specific start point and destination.

Dublin Mountains Way 55k
A road and hill trek through the hills and suburbs of Co. Dublin, from Shankill in the east of the county to Tallaght in the west and onwards to the south county suburb of Mount Merrion . Normally 42k, but extended to 55k in this presentation.

As shown on RTE, an insight into the Dublin mountaineer bus which picks up at Sandyford and near Tallaght luas stations and brings you to all the wonderful facilities the Dublin mountains offers. The bus operating at weekends costs just €5 all day and info is available from dublinmountains.ie

Massive No sign in Dublin Mountains
The giant 'No’ sign that was put up on the Dublin Mountains was removed, according to the group who erected it.
The pro-life group says that its volunteers took the sign downafter the farmer who owns the land where the sign was received phone calls about it.
The sign was located around the region of the Hellfire Club south of the city. The group said that there was a bull grazing in the field where the sign was put up.
One of the people involved, Brian Flanagan, said that 10 volunteers had put the sign up on a farmer’s land on Montpelier Hill.
He said that the sign was made of plastic white polethine, the same material as the sign at Ben Bulben, and was worth “a couple of thousands”.
But after the sign had been up for a few hours, the farmer asked them to remove the sign, as he was receiving phone calls from people about it. At around 1am this morning, four volunteers had taken the sign down.

Dublin DREAM? - a mix of sea, city and mountains
Dublin is a city limited on one side by Irish Sea and on another by Dublin Mountains. This time I've went to explore the mountains following the Dublin Mountains Way. It's a 42 kilometers trek which crosses the Wicklow Way. I've started in Tallaght and finished at 3 Rocks leaving myself the rest for another day.

Strange Lights in the Dublin Mountains
Strange lights appear in the mountains on certain nights. No sound of helicopters and flickers on and off as to not be car lights. Lights are rather high on the mountain and move fast. Can someone shed some light on what this light could be?
The Bohernabrenna Reservoirs
BOHERNABREENA RESERVOIR
Dublin’s Outdoors truly unfolds before you as you enter the Glenasmole Valley, home to the Bohernabreena reservoir and the Dublin Mountains Way which hugs its shore. Views of the highest peaks in the Dublin Mountains including Seefingan, Corrig and the highest, Kippure can be enjoyed in this area, which shares a border with the Wicklow National Park. The peaks of these nearby mountains contain archaeological sites stretching back up to 5,000 years and afford spectacular views of the city and Dublin Bay.
Both the River Liffey and the River Dodder rise in the Dublin-Wicklow Mountains nearby and the Dodder flows through the reservoir. Walkers can also enjoy riverside walks along the Dodder from the Dublin Mountains out of the reservoir and back towards the urban areas of Tallaght, Templeogue and Rathfarnham through the nearby parklands at Kiltipper and Dodder Valley Park.
