The famous Dukan Lake is one of the most beatiful sites in the Kurdistan Region. Surrounded by yellow and green hills, the bright blue lake is ideal for swimming, boating and fishing. The lakeshore resort contains several hotels, a selections of cabins, restaurants and other facilities for visitors. A visit is highly recommended.

DescriptionLake Dukan is the largest lake in Iraqi Kurdistan. It is located close to the city of Ranya, and is a reservoir on the Little Zab created by the construction of the Dukan Dam. The Dukan Dam was built between 1954 and 1959 as a multi-purpose dam to provide water storage, irrigation and hydroelectricity.

Tow beautiful places located north Iraq, Sulaymaniyah. This place has 2 lake one call Dukan and the other one located on the other side of the mountain call Ranya Darband and it's made from rain and a line of the river Dijla that comes from Iran.
Dukan dam | Bellmouth Spillway in 1988 and 2019
The Dukan Dam built between 1954 and 1959.
In 1988 for the first time it was full and got to discharge throughout bellmouth spillway. Also for the second time in 2019, it got full again and discharged throughout bellmouth spillway.

The Dukan Dam (Sorani Kurdish: بەنداوی دووکان Arabic: سد دوكان) is a multi-purpose concrete arch dam in As Sulaymaniyah Governorate, Kurdistan Region of Iraq. It impounds the Little Zab, thereby creating Lake Dukan. The Dukan Dam was built between 1954 and 1959 whereas its power station became fully operational in 1979. The dam is 360 metres (1,180 ft) long and 116.5 metres (382 ft) high and its hydroelectric power station has a maximum capacity of 400 MW.
