Snow Driving Colorado to New Mexico in WInter | Winter Vacation | Day 6
Car Trouble due to extremely cold temperature ; frozen radiator ; opaque windscreen buying defreezing liquid near Chama, New Mexico at a Chevron. We face a number of challenges on Day 6th of USA Winter Road Trip when we drove from Durango , Colorado to Taos , New Mexico , which ended in this winter heaven .
*SUBSCRIBE* to support.
Even with our Subaru Forester with all wheel drive and x-mode and traction on, we could not dare to go through a road full of thick black ice and snow on top. Brakes were not working from time to time. Driving in winter with snowstorm is some challenge and if you get through, quite an experience.
We planned to reach Santa Fe the same day after Taos Pueblo. Please subscribe and be tuned for the next video about amazing Pueblo residents and life.
Videos in this playlist are rough, shot in adverse conditions and mostly through a handheld camera out of car window. They are also meant to be, to give a feel of the journey. Some times roads are long and slow to give perspective of road trip and what we experienced. If you have to skip , go for 8:01

Day 6 On The Colorado Trail
These are my Day by Day videos of my 46 day thru-hike of the Colorado Trail in 2014 including the Collegiate Peaks Loop,(East and West). The Colorado Trail is a long-distance trail running for 486 miles (782 km) from the mouth of Waterton Canyon Southwest of Denver to Durango Colorado.
The Trail is divided into 28 segments and 5 segments that make up the Collegiate West which runs for 80 Miles, Its highest point is 13,271 feet above sea level, and most of the trail is above 10,000 feet. It is often considered one of the most beautiful trail mile for mile in the United States.
I was new to thru hiking and didn't have any of the proper equipment, so I researched all the gear I’d need, trained really hard and completed the trail with no big issues at all.
I researched the trail and couldn't find any detailed videos on what the water sources look like, where to resupply, the weather, campsites and how the terrain changes so much in a day.
I made it my goal to capture the trail and my experience on it, in hopes that it will inspire others to get out and explore their own trail just like I got inspired by other people's thru hiking videos.
This is the largest group of videos about the Colorado Trail, and will be a great resource for anyone planning a trip on the Colorado Trail.
Hope these videos help you with planning your adventure on the Colorado Trail.
Thanks for Watching!

Chevrolet Presents 'Mountain Movers' Series on Nat Geo
When ESPN Winter X Games course designer Chris Gunny Gunnarson and award-winning television producer Jason Carbone set out to create a behind-the-scenes series of action sports competitions, they knew they needed to team up with Chevrolet. The brand has been part of Gunnarson's action-packed life since he bought his great-grandmother's 1964 Bel Air at the age of 16.
These days, Gunnarson, owner and president of Snow Park Technologies, personally relies on a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD dually to handle heavy duty work in harsh conditions -- the kind that will provide real-life drama on the new National Geographic Channel series, Mountain Movers, set to premiere this spring.
When athletes like Shaun White, Louie Vito and Danny Davis perform freestyle tricks in the halfpipe, it is one of the most exciting things you'll see in sports, said Chris Perry, U.S. vice president of Chevrolet Marketing. Mountain Movers is a great fit for Chevrolet, because it's authentic. The show's hardworking, dedicated crew overcomes the odds each week using skill and creativity to design and build world-class winter action sports venues.
Jason Carbone's Good Clean Fun (Tia & Tamera, Run's House, Life of Ryan), is developing and producing the series for NGC. From the first time he met Gunnarson and was introduced to his world, Carbone knew that he had to capture for television the real-life drama of these men defying the fiercest that Mother Nature can dish out to create the pulse-pounding competition courses for the world's most popular action sports events.
Snow Park Technologies works in the most remote locations under extreme conditions, exactly the type of programming NatGeo is famous for, Carbone said. From avalanche control to building a half-pipe in blizzard conditions, Mountain Movers is going to take the viewer to locations and place them in experiences that are truly one of a kind.
Gunnarson and his Snow Park Technologies crew have designed and built more than 250 competition courses, including all of the Winter X Games in the United States and Europe, World Snowboard Championships and the Winter Dew Tour, among others.
Mountain Movers will show Gunnarson and his crew creating innovative snow sport venues in epic settings, where the hazards of winter weather, avalanches and working with heavy machinery present constant challenges.
Building snow parks is tricky business under the best of conditions. Mountain Moversis about taking on the big challenges and having the right tools to get the job done, Gunnarson said. I know Chevy trucks can handle the heavy duty work we do, and in the nastiest environments a mountain can offer because I use them every day.
Added Michael Cascio, executive vice president of programming for National Geographic Channel: Mountain Movers will have all the elements that National Geographic Channel loves in developing great TV: insane feats, high-intensity projects, hazards around every corner and engrossing personalities. Chevrolet is a perfect match for this adrenaline-packed project and we are looking forward to rolling out each action snow sport episode for our television audience.
General Motors is a co-producing partner for Mountain Movers and key advertiser across the National Geographic Channel program schedule. Chevrolet is the lead media partner of Mountain Movers, which includes integration.
Mountain Moversis expected to appeal to young male fans of adrenaline-fueled winter sports competitions that typically feature high-flying snowboarding, skiing and snowmobiling. TV viewership for these events is on the rise. The 2012 Winter X Games saw a 32-percent increase in viewership from the previous year, including a 17-percent increase among males ages 18 to 34.
Oleo Ranch Spring Creek Pass Ranch For Sale, Colorado Ranch for sale
Completely surrounded by National Forest land and bordered by wilderness on one side, the Oleo Ranch near Lake City, Colorado is a mountain resort without peers. Fully operational as an off-grid property with a main ranch house, bunkhouse and seven roomy rentable cabins, Oleo Ranch has a fabulous reputation among guests, many of whom return year after year. Located squarely in the heart of some of the best hunting and fishing in Colorado, the Oleo Ranch is well-positioned to maintain its coveted reputation for customer satisfaction for generations to come.
Situated at 10,500 feet between Slumgullion and Spring Creek Passes, Oleo Ranch occupies 165.4± acres of mountain meadows, aspen groves, spruce forest and riparian lands bordering Cebolla Creek. The creek itself is one of the ranch’s finest natural assets, as it offers 1.5 miles of excellent small stream fishing for wild brook and brown trout that grow up to 16 inches, with many in the 10- to 13-inch class. Cebolla Creek boasts excellent water quality and a huge aquatic insect base that keeps its trout fat and happy. Both beginning and experienced fly fishers will find much to love about Cebolla Creek. In addition, 5 small ponds have been developed along the creek that can support larger trout, some of which reach trophy proportions.
Oleo Ranch is also a natural corridor for enough trophy big game to excite even the most jaded of hunters. With the abundant water on the ranch, the property is a magnet for elk, mule deer and moose. Rare indeed is the day when one or all of these species is not seen on the ranch. Oleo Ranch is located within Unit 66 and very near Unit 76, both of which are limited draw units renowned for trophy elk. A very limited season is available for moose in these units, but the moose population is thriving, and hunting opportunities are certain to increase in coming years.
Accommodations on the ranch have been designed to maximize the wilderness setting and experience. Eight log cabins are scattered throughout the property, and range from 800 to 1200 square feet, and can accommodate from 4 to 12 guests each. Electricity does not exist on the ranch, but all lighting, heating and refrigeration is propane-powered. This makes Oleo Ranch a perfect place to literally and figuratively unplug, a feature it uses to the best advantage for those seeking a retreat from the stress of civilization.
Recreational opportunities surrounding the ranch are legion. Wildlife photography and fishing on the ranch can occupy full days by themselves, but with National Forest in every direction, the possibilities multiply exponentially. Fabulous public fishing is available just a short drive to the south on the Rio Grande, and to the north, on the Lake Fork of the Gunnison River. OHV riding is legendary on the Alpine Loop, about 30 minutes away, and secondary trails are available almost on the doorstep of the ranch.
Hiking and horseback trails reach from the ranch directly to the neighboring La Garita Wilderness, which offers incredible solitude, mountaineering among many high Thirteeners, and one Fourteener, 14,014-foot San Luis Peak. In addition, the famed Colorado Trail and Continental Divide Trail wind just south of the ranch. Of course, fall photography when the aspen blaze is second to none, and the complete absence of light pollution makes the ranch one of the finest dark sky locations in the United States for astronomical viewing. In the winter, the ranch is located directly on a groomed snowmobile trail system that spreads over 100 miles on both sides of the Continental Divide.
The charming small mountain towns of Lake City and Creede are just down Highway 149, 17 miles and 36 miles away, respectively. Both offer dining, artisans, medical centers, Victorian architecture and rich mining history. The Creede Repertory Theatre is world-renowned, and Lake City is the hub of the Alpine Loop Scenic Byway that accesses some of the most spectacular country in the Lower 48.
At M4 Ranch Group, we believe that the Oleo Ranch is a unique find. Off-grid and yet comfortable, private and yet accessible, the Oleo Ranch blends with its beautiful San Juan Mountains setting perfectly. It could further be developed into an amazing fishing and hunting resort, a family or corporate retreat, a wilderness base camp or simply be kept as it is. If you’ve forgotten the beauty of a place that simply works with its surroundings rather than against them, we’d love to introduce you to such a special place at the Oleo Ranch.
