The Durgapur barrage and the Rondiha dam are prominent tourist destinations in Durgapur in Bardhaman.
The Durgapur barrage holds the key to water management after it flows in from the Maithon and Panchet dams of DVC.
According to the irrigation department officer, large-scale silting in the Damodar near the barrage has shrunk the water storage capacity.
The authorities have banned loud music, alcohol, thermocol plates and plastic at Rondiha dam and Durgapur barrage in West Burdwan and selfies on boats by picnickers to check pollution and untoward incidents.

Durgapur Barrage is built across the Damodar River at Durgapur in Bankura district and partly in Paschim Bardhaman district in the Indian state of West Bengal. It was constructed by Damodar Valley Corporation mainly for the purpose of irrigation and also to supply water to Industrial township of Durgapur. The irrigation and canal system was transferred to the Government of West Bengal in 1964.
