CATHERINE PALACE | BEST Palace in St. Petersburg, Russia
Today, Katie and I visited Catherine Palace just outside of St. Petersburg, Russia. It was an incredible day and one of the better palaces we've visited around the world. Extremely beautiful and opulent!
This palace was owned by Peter the Great, then Elizabeth the I, and then Catherine the Great!
The Amber Room was a highlight and very interesting to see. It has great significance in the history and the original room was stolen and never recovered.
We enjoyed touring the beautiful gold rooms and palace grounds today. Peterhof may have incredible fountains, but by comparison the palace itself at Catherine Palace is much more impressive!!
Make sure you buy your tickets in advance and likely join a group tour to keep things easy as this palace lines up for HOURS out front. It's not worth the wait if you can just walk in with a tour guide.

TRAVEL VLOG : Saint Petersburg, Russia in one day itinerary
My first trip to Saint Petersburg, I took a night bus from Moscow, I slept on the bus and arrived there around 8am. It was 12 hours trip though! hahah But I didn't really feel that long because i slept so well until the driver woke me up telling that was the last stop. lol Also I was lucky because the weather was good at that day and I started my day with having breakfast somewhere close to the bus station and then I explored the city just on foot because most attraction sites there are just walking distance. I visited only some main attractions and i feel like that's not enough...anyway, I had to fly back to moscow that night because the next day was my flight back to my country. Maybe in future or soon I will be back to Russia and visit saint petersburg again.

ST. PETERSBURG TRAVEL GUIDE - Best View in the City!
On our first full day in St Petersburg, Russia, we spent the morning exploring the city with Free Tour St Petersburg -- a free city sights walking tour. It was great and we have many fun facts and details to share all week in our St Petersburg Travel Guide!
After the free tour, Katie and I went to find the best viewpoint of St Petersburg, which happens to be at St Isaac's Cathedral! This is the ONLY place in the city that you can get up high and view everything from above.
The majority of St Petersburg is built on marsh/swamp land, so they cannot build high tall buildings, which means most areas are quite low profile. The cathedral is one of the taller buildings in the city and hosts an amazing vantage point!

Hotel Saint-Petersburg is located in one of the most beautiful places of the city: Pirogovskaya embankment, just in front of the famous cruiser Avrora. The hotel has a magnificent view of the river Neva, historical center of the city, including Isaak and Peter and Paul Cathedrals. Finlyandsky Rail Terminal is situated in 10 minutes of walk from the hotel, getting from the hotel to the Pulkovo airport takes around 40 minutes. One of the main advantages of the hotel is an immediate proximity to the most popular sightseeings of Saint-Petersburg.
History[edit]
Hotel Saint-Petersburg was built in 1967-1970, architects of the project were S.B. Speransky, V.E. Struzman and N.V. Kamensky. Foundation of the hotel with a symbolic name Leningrad was a great breakthrough not just because it was one of the first hotels of that size built after the war and also due to the advanced construction technologies put into practice. The hotel was excellently equipped, on the second floor guests found themselves in a winter garden with a breathtaking view of the historical part of the city. In the Mirror fort that looked like a glass cylinder was located a two-story restaurant, where events for the VIP guests of the city were held. During its history hotel Saint-Petersburg has received lots of celebrities. An exchange bar was opened in the hotel, which was an absolute rarity for Russia of 1970s. Special appeal of the hotel were Cabaret performances that were extremely popular with guests and residents of the city.

Trans Siberian Railway - FIRST CLASS Train Tour
What is it like to travel FIRST CLASS on the Trans Siberian Railway? Join us as we travel from Russia to Ulaanbataar Mongolia on the Transsiberian train. After having travelled in second class and even a shorter ride in third class, we decided it was time to up the ante and travel in luxury (for once). In this video, you'll get a first class train tour as we show you our wagon on the overnight train!
We've fallen in love with train travel and the Transsiberian railway has really stolen our heart. After travelling more than 5000 km by train through Russia, we're finally going to Mongolia. We're super excited to reach Ulaanbataar (Ulan Bator in English). Our train journey has taken us from Tallin in Estonia, to Saint-Peterburg and Moscow to the middle of Russia, Yekaterinburg. Afterwards we travelled 56 hours on a train to reach the heart of Siberia in Irkutsk where we visited one of the highlights of Russia, Lake Baikal.
