AFRIKA Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Nationalpark Safari
Nördlich von Richards Bay Begegnungen mit Elefanten, Nashörnern und weiteren wilden Tieren auf einer Jeep-Safari im Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Nationalpark.
Our First Safari in South Africa
We left the boat at Tuzi Gazi Marina in Richards Bay for a few days and traveled up to St Lucia to see the Cheetah Conservatory and the river tour of Hippos and Crocodiles. Then on to the iMfolozi and Hluhluwe Game Reserves.
Trip to Richard's Bay 2019
A look at a typical weekend getaway. Good company and good vibes.
2 waterfalls then Amapondo Backpackers, Port St Johns // South Africa Safari Day 6 of 25.
We leave Mboyti Camp site #AmapondoBackpackers in Port St Johns.
But first we take a detour to two waterfalls: #Fraserfalls and #Magwafalls.
The road to Fraser falls is a mere #jeep track through the veld indicated by a dilapidated sign on the side of the road, which leads to the edge of the Fraser gorge and a view of the Mkozi river falls into the gorge.
I was surprised that we were the only people viewing the falls, until Johan from Mboyti Mountain Bush Camp arrived with his clients. He offered for us to join his convoy to Magwa falls.
We followed them 8km through a tea plantation (Magwa tea plantation – the last tea plantation in South Africa) on the rough gravel roads
There were a few more cars at Magwa Falls and many local children offering to guide you across the river. With my recovering ankle, I was most grateful for Johan’s assistance across the river and up through the bush to the viewing point.
We continued to Port St Johns. The town was a mess after the protects in the preceeding days and the laundramat we’d planned to use was closed.
Amapondo Backpackers was a breath of fresh air for our trip, terraced on the slopes overlooking second beach. The food was awesome and crystal cottage was the most comfortable night’s sleep we’d had so far.
We went to the beautiful isolated beach #silakanaturereserve until sunset, before heading back to Amapondo backpackers for a delicious supper.

South Africa Day 11 - One Safari Game drive and Port Elizabeth
A short capture of our eleventh day in South Africa.
In the early morning, at sunrise, we went for the last game drive at Mavela for this trip. A beautiful morning drive with lots of wild animals, as every drive at Mavela.
In the afternoon we left Mavela and headed to the airport in Richards Bay. It was time for us to leave Zululand and head to Port Elizabeth on the south coast where we spent the evening by the boardwalk.

The Ultimate Vacation: Safari and Shark Diving in South Africa
June of 2017 we got to take The Ultimate Vacation: An epic 2 week trip to South Africa where we went on Safari, went Shark Diving, and explored Victoria Falls.
Our trip started in Cape Town South Africa where we hiked Table Mountain, ate in camps bay, visited wine country, and did some shark diving with great white sharks.
Part two of the trip was spent up in the northern part of South Africa at the Londolozi game reserve where all of Gabys dreams came through. She finally got to go on Safari and see all the lions, leopards, elephants, hippos, and giraffes. We did Safari with Londolozi which was simply stunning and made for the ideal vacation. We can not recommend Londolozi enough!
Part three of the trip, we hopped a plane over to Victoria Falls where Gaby got a little scared crossing a bridge. After a day at the falls we made got to Safari around Chobe National Park.
For all the details check out Gaby's recap of the entire trip on her blog here :

C2C4C Jetski Expedition South Africa
On 21 April 2010, six adventurers on Yamaha WaveRunners left from Ponto De Oura, Mozambique, with the aim of making history by being the first to travel over 2800km's of South African coastline in order to increase awareness and raise funds for CANSA as part of the Coast2Coast4CANSA (C2C4C) campaign. On 12 May, just over three weeks later, the intrepid jet ski adventurers and CANSA ambassadors safely and successfully reached Alexander Bay and the Orange River mouth -- the border between South Africa and Namibia.
During their treacherous mission, the pilots, Barry Lewin (SA Surfski paddler), Jason Ribbink (SA Surfer & Big Wave Rider), Lance Klusener (SA Cricketer), Mark Addison (Marine Conservationist & Shark Expert), Olivia Symcox (C2C4C PR & Media director), Brandon Ribbink (World Lifesaving Champion), Bennie Benson (cancer survivor) and Russel Symcox (Dolphins Cricketer) experienced some of the most extreme ocean conditions possible, getting battered by 7 metre ocean swells and 40 knots winds outside Richards Bay on just the third day of the mission.
After enjoying perfect conditions in the Eastern Cape, the team was once again put to the test when they reached the Cape of Storms. Rounding Cape Point and making inroads up the rugged and wild West Coast was made all the more difficult with the huge seas and strong winds that the team once again had to deal with. When blessed with a rare window of favourable weather, the team made one final push and rode a mammoth 346km on the final day to reach the mouth of the Orange River just before sunset, having left from the isolated and nearly inaccessible Brand se Baai over nine hours earlier.
The 1511 nautical mile journey involved more than just the six-strong core jet ski crew, as they were accompanied by four Toyota support vehicles manned by support crew members, medical and safety personnel, a television and media production crew, media liaisons and logistics coordinators. The support crew included Rob Evans, Liz Symcox, James Zikhali, Kelvin Trautman, Sharron Wharren and Sean Willis.
During the journey, the crew stopped over in the major South African cities of Durban, East London, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town, and made use of the opportunities to promote cancer awareness. On these particular stop over days, the fundraising and awareness objectives were accomplished with the valued support of the local CANSA offices, as well as with the assistance of the sponsors in each locality.
The mission deservedly attracted much media attention, with interviews with local radio stations and regional and community newspapers a regular occurrence. Additionally, with the assistance of CANSA, educational visits to schools, hospitals, clinics and special care facilities were also be organized, all designed to promote awareness about cancer and draw attention to the objectives of the C2C4C campaign.
