Biking Portland Maine - Casco Bay Bridge; Commercial St; Eastern Trail; Graffiti Wall; Tukey's Brg
A cyclist POV of traveling from South Portland, over the Casco Bay Bridge, down Commercial Street in the Old Port, onto the Eastern Trail, passing the Graffiti Wall, up onto Tukey's Bridge, and connecting to the Back Cove trail. Nothing dramatic - just a taste of biking in Portland Maine area. This was relatively early on a Sunday morning so no big crowds yet, although a cruise ship was in port.

Here's a quick clip of the view from my afternoon ride around the eastern promenade trail in Portland, Maine. This location was super relaxing and beautiful, but I was rarely home to enjoy it.
Back Cove Trail - Portland Trails
One of the oldest and most popular of the trails in Portland, Back Cove offers great views of the Portland skyline. Ideal for walking, running, biking (road/mountain) and dog walking. There are benches and two water fountains (seasonal) along the trail. Portable toilets are available in the parking areas at Preble Street Extension and Payson Park.
Loop trail with stone dust and paved surfaces–mostly flat with a slight rise along the stretch that parallels I-295. The Back Cove Trail connects to the Bayside and Eastern Promenade Trail under Tukey’s Bridge.
Portland Trails - The Bayside Trail Opens
The long awaited Bayside Trail that connects Deering Oaks with trails along the Back Bay and Eastern Promenade opens with various local officials commemorating the event.

The Shipyard Old Port Half Marathon in Portland, Maine is a very popular event that starts in the Old Port district on Portland's famous waterfront. The course starts on the pier at the Ocean Gateway Terminal and includes many Portland landmarks including Commercial Street, Western Promenade Park, Harbor View Memorial Park, Munjoy Hill, Eastern Promenade Trail, and a complete circuit around Back Cove. This race is already a summer time tradition in Maine!
