I have spent the last decade living in Toronto and during these 10 years seen a lot of night clubs and bars come and go. It was very difficult to make a Top 20 list of my favorite establishments that I consider here to stay.
Toronto, Canada is massive and counts over 400 bars & nightclubs thus I recommend planning out your night carefully especially during the winter months and take an Uber or Lyft between the districts. The most prominent nightlife entertainment districts are King St West, Queen St West, Ossington and the Docks.
Start off you Toronto nightlife adventure with local food and drinks at one of the many social bars like the Rec Room and Tilt Arcade Bar at which you can play video game arcades while you can drink.

Munch on mindblasting food at Belfast Love, a popular social bar with beer tables and billiards. Alternatively, grab a fancy meal at Baro, an upscale restaurant serving incredible dishes, try ordering their 'Big Ass Steak' haha! If you are on a budget check out The Dime, all their dishes are served for $5 each and are quite delicious.
Amazing bars and nightclubs on King St include SPiN for cocktails and ping-pong, Everleigh, hookup bar The Citizen for its large dance floor, Maison, Thompson Rooftop and the giant nightclub Uniun for its fistpumpin' EDM.
Top of your nightlife at one of the high profile bars & nightclubs in the city like Rebel, Drake Hotel and CODA. Now on the downside, remember that the Toronto nightlife is short-lived with bars closing at 2:00am and clubs at 3:00am which could feel like a rushed evening.

Skinny home in Toronto as prototype for parking-space homes?
When Cyril Borovsky bought a 16-foot-wide strip of land in Toronto sandwiched between two bungalows, he knew the only way to fit more than one bedroom on the tiny footprint was to think cubically. Using a steel frame and performing much of the work himself- with just a boom lift and makeshift pulley-, he went up four floors.
The final 1,300 square foot home fits 3 bedrooms and 3 baths on a 16-foot-wide lot. Borovsky recognizes that his lot is unusually thin (“not quite the skinniest in Toronto, but almost”), but he thinks his home could be a prototype for turning laneway parking into homes.
The Rob Ford Story - the fifth estate

Now the two most powerful men in Canada's largest city are locked in a struggle only one is likely to survive. the fifth estate's Gillian Findlay has more on the man who has become the world's most controversial mayor - and the real story behind that first notorious video.

The main area lends itself well as a cinema space, games room, or an additional living room. Pot lighting and above grade windows keep the bright and open theme found through the upper levels, along with Suntouch in-floor heating as your first experience to the lower level.
A separate walkout to the backyard allows for nanny suite conversion or easy access for indoor and outdoor playtime.
The yard, constructed By Earth Inc, is complete with a contained pea gravel dog run, permanent turf from Versatile Grass, an incredible play structure complete with climbing wall and tree house, and moonstruck systematic lighting. Relax, entertain or barbecue on the Thermory baked ash hardwood deck with plenty of additional storage. Spending your time here would be an absolute joy.

Murder in Cottage Country - The Fifth Estate
It's a dark tale of people vanishing, mystery, and suspicion of murder: Nearly two decades ago in a secluded part of Ontario's cottage country, four elderly people disappeared without a trace. Police spent years searching for bodies, clues and answers. To this day, the seniors have never been found -- and no one has been held accountable for their disappearance.
Now, in a joint investigation with The Walrus magazine, The Fifth Estate uncovers long-secret police documents and new details about the people who went missing, the suspects police had in their sights and clues to what may have happened.

Gambling on Addiction : How Governments Rely on Problem Gamblers - The Fifth Estate
When it comes to gambling, Canadians have plenty of skin in the game. Last year, we spent about $13 billion on legal, government-run gambling. That's more than we spend on movies, hockey tickets, and Tim Horton’s -- combined.
Everybody knows that provincial governments in Canada love those gambling revenues, but the dirty little secret is just how much government casinos rely on problem gamblers to fill government coffers. Experts say that as much as 50% of that gambling revenue comes from problem gamblers. So who here is the real addict? Are provincial governments in Canada actually preying on gamblers?
Despite promoting responsible gambling, a new investigation by The Fifth Estate reveals how government programs are failing to keep addicts out of their casinos, while reaping a windfall from those who make it in.

David Reiner : Disappearing Act (2008) - the fifth estate
Over the years at the fifth estate, we've chronicled our fair share of misdeeds, chased our fair share of scoundrels and con-men. Here's one that stands out for us. Back in 2008, Hana Gartner followed shady bookkeeper David Reiner from Toronto to Uganda. Reiner had vanished after stealing almost a million dollars from twenty-one non-profit daycare centers.
